I have a problem with text when i want to cut it cuts 2 lines and i want one but when i explode there is still one object and it still cuts whit 2 lines. If you could help me whit that i would be gratefull thanks.
Interesting, it's possible that you have two items that are grouped and thus wouldn't separate. You can see whether this is true by either opening the Layer and Objects box under the Object menu and seeing what objects are there, or by using ctrl-shift-g several times to ungroup.
and compare to corel draw "contour tool" this is complete bullshit
Well, you're certainly entitled to that thought. But I just did a quick search and Corel Draw is $269. Inkscape is free. Free. Plus, lots of folks put in the time to make videos like this one. I appreciate the program AND this channel.
I know this video was years ago, so I hope you see this question. What if you only want two corners rounded instead of all 4?

maybe similer problem, but this is with engraving. I drew lines and circles with different stroke width (no fill) on inkscape, I wanted to laser engrave those lines& shapes with different stroke .svg , but it is showing all as same stroke width into laserGRBL, if I convert say a circle (stroke-to-path) I get two circles inside each other in LaserGRBL🤯

I had to reinstall it in the last week because of a Fusion update and it still works. Are you on Mac or PC? I'm not one of the developers, so I won't be able to figure out where you're having trouble, but it might help others that read your comment be more careful.
Pc. Gdy zainstalujemy najnowszą wersję Fusion 360, to po instalowaniu dodatku Fusion się uruchamia. Niestety w wersji "personal use" nie dodaje do górnego menu ikonki. Po prostu nie widać dodatku. Fusion musi być chyba w wersji płatnej.

I have installed the plugin, and restarted Fusion, but it still doesn't show up.
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble. Can you confirm that you're on the Utilities tab? Are you using it on a Mac or PC?
I dont think shaper is compatible with the current versions of fusion :(
I reinstalled it and made sure it was version 1.7.0 and it works!

I have my shape. Created the offset following your video. Created a circle for stitching hole and set it to object to path. When I follow this video for pattern along line (snake and repeated, distance between copies 4.5mm) it creates a bizarre bunch of stitching holes off the page and no where near where I want. Where am I going wrong?

Thank you for the kind words! I could interpret your question a few ways, so I'll try to answer all those ways. If you're looking to combine two vector shapes (like a rectangle and a triangle to make a house shape), you're looking for the Union command under the Path menu. If you just want two pieces to move together, you want the Group command under the Object menu. If you'd like to combine two files, then open one of them and select the Import command under the File menu. I hope that helps!

I wanted to make a credit card holder from leather, and use Inkscape for drawing and then print out the patterns. Problem is the sizes of the inkscape document don't correspond with the printed document. For example if you would draw a rectangle from 10 x 10 cm in Inscape, the printer does not print these dimensions. I don't know how that is possible. Thanks.
Here's some more annoying Inkscape news: Right click on those + or - sign will do the job right away. No need to type :-) Also: ctrl+shift+mouse wheel for rotating.

Have you used the Break Apart command yet? Until you use that you won't be able to select just one with the select tool.

Do you get any error codes when that happens? Are you on Mac or PC and what version of Inkscape? Often those extensions fail because of a Python plugin issue, which a fresh install can often fix.
@@makingmakers4355 Thanks for answering. No, I don't get any error codes (it just doesn't open or do anything). I'm on PC. I'm on the last version 1.1. Python plugin you say... Maybe that's the problem, because when I installed Inkscape I didn't install the "Python" part (when you install it, a box appears on which you can choose what to install, like languages, tutorials, etc.). I didn't check the box for Python because it took space and didn't knew what was for, I'm learning just for fun. I will install again Inkscape with the Python box marked and try again. Thanks again, I will return with an answer

I'm thrilled to hear that! I found that installing Inkscape with Python makes all of the extensions work, but it can mess with your ability to run other Python scripts. Just something to be aware of if you do any programming.

When i draw a simple Rectangle for example i never have a center line (the dotted one) i always get a singular outer line? And when i add a Kerf of 0,15mm it makes the line 2x smaller so shouldn't i make the Width only half the kerf? Cause it takes half the kerf of both sides? (Top and Bottom)
All good questions. The center line exists in my version because I duplicated the part before using this technique, so it's the second version that wasn't converted. When you say it makes the lines smaller, I'm not entirely sure what you mean. Can you say that another way? As for the 1/2 kerf vs full kerf issue, I can see why it may make sense to only offset by 1/2 the kerf, which is definitely what you should do. But, the way you do that is by setting the stroke to the full kerf since half will be on the outside and half on the inside. Does that help?
@@makingmakers4355 Yeah thx The Kerf settings one helped but even if i duplicate the Rectangle or anything or the Line stays on the outside and when i use "Stroke to Path" the lines don't change (only the Width resets to 1mm (from the set Kerf-Value before). But Break apart splits the dran line but as it seems not correctly

I’m trying to use break apart since I have an outer line and an inner line like in the video, but when I do it, it just creates a black box? Any suggestions?
That's a great question! Usually when using Break Apart it separates each line into its own shape, filled in. My guess is that both of your shapes are where you expect them to be, but hard/impossible to see. Right after you use Break Apart, but before deselecting the new shapes, open the Fill and Stroke menu and either remove the Fill or lower the opacity so you can see the separate shapes. If you remove the Fill, you may also need to add a Stroke if it makes everything invisible. Let me know if that helps!
