Nice video. love to find a video on how to use it as everyvideo is the other atem mini, pro etc. any recommendations?
Coming soon!
Super helpful, especially for those of us that don't have one yet!
I know this is a new social media trend always to hold these wireless transmitters in your hand but people need to realize they're not created to be that close to your mouth. When you put them that close you hear every breath and every smack. They're made to be used with external lavalier mics (or just the transmitter) away from your mouth😁
Lol...
I work on cruise ships as a TV Programmer, and our broadcast have exactly this one.
Hi, I’m curious to know if you’ve had any cache issues with the HD8? I’m using the ATEM Mini Pro and every Sunday the cache fills up. I’ve increase my internet upload speed to 3pm-s and I’m still having cache issues. I ‘m considering buying the HD8 version, but wanted to know if this unit will have the same problem?
it's pronounced "na.iv.te" correction, 12G SDI is still one way through the coax cable, it just pushes 4 times as much bits through the cable as 3G SDI does. you are probably mixing things up with the 10G ethernet the BMD studio cameras are capable of which is bidirectionnal.
Quite an insightful explanation . This is really appreciated. I have a question concerning the program recording versus Blackmagic braw internal recording. I assume that if a BMPCC4K for example is set to record BRaw internally using the 'Film' or 'Ext Video' dynamic range option...the internal recording will give you the flat looking ungraded image. Assuming the same camera is connected to this ATEM Television Studio Switch for the HD ISO recording, would you be having same flat looking image in the ISO files/multiview screen recorded on the switch or is there a way to set the dynamic range in ISO (video coming out through the hdmi to the switcher) to record in 'Video' dynamic range option?
that’s a good question. Basically you can do either or. On the black magic camera you can set on the display options whether to display the LUT out of the HDMI or not. If you display the LUT that’s what the switcher will see and it will record that in the program file. If you turn the LUT off on display, you’ll see the flat on graded footage in the switcher and that’s what it will record and see. Hopefully that makes sense.
@@cityonahill_coah thanks as always
Hey guys, great video. Just any FYI... The tapes that you talk about at around 10 and a half minutes in, is (was) called Mini DV. It was digital tape that preceded the SD card for camcorders and came after VHS and Sony's Beta Max formats.
what a time to be alive!! We might need to go a thrift store to hunt some down!!
Being that you use it for your cinematic productions, do you plug it into a surge protector, or is it plugged into the wall outlet?
if i remember correctly we had it plugged into a wall outlet for this shoot!
This is a great update. I recently started following you regarding this. We are working with BMD right now on narrowing down my weak panel lcd on the BMD TVHD8. I use the switcher for our studio and weekly broadcast. Unfortunately, Great content @City on a Hill!
bummer about the LCD screen! hopefully that gets resolved soon!! Thanks for the follow!
Great video!
Thank you for watching!
@City On A Hill, have you noticed any issues with the lcd panel not showing anything when you power it up? I've seen a few instances where we have to unplug it and plug it up again to reveal the lcd panel, etc.
we have not seen that issue, have used it quite a fair amount in the past two weeks and have not seen that bug. The only bug that we have consistently encountered is after about a few hours of use. Sometimes it will send a loud, shrill, high-pitched noise through the control output.
@City on a Hill // Christian Filmmakers thanks, I created a ticket with BMD. I was hoping to get it resolved, but looks like I may just return it for another BMD Studio HD8.
I enjoyed your video. I believe your concerns about 12G vs 3G are incorrect. The difference between the two is bandwidth: the 12g can pass 12 gigs of data vice 3 gig for the 3g. There are 8 inputs and 8 matching outputs. The second SDI connection (output) passes program, talkback and camera control for blackmagic cameras. You need the second cables for these functions whether it is 3G or 12G. For example the BM URSA Broadcast G2 is 12G and still requires the second cable for camera control etc. 12G is just an added expense for an HD only system. Not meant as a criticism.
i appreciate the correction 👏🏾👏🏾
Great video. I just got one for my podcast work
wow! i’m curious why you didn’t go with one of the smaller ones for podcast use?
@@cityonahill_coah I actually got them both to see which one would be best. I mainly got the bigger one because of on board storage, and the professional audio solutions all in the same box. Completely new to the ATEM entire platform though, so it may be complete overkill too.
ahh got it got it
very interesting... thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Awesome!!
Thank you! Cheers!
WOW, Nice! Thanks for sharing. Mac & Blackmagic, absolutely.
Thanks for watching!
Super interesting
Glad you think so!
Bravo.
Could you test the receiving camera rtmp on it?!
Power Cables: It's just a lot easier for BMD to have a single SKU for their products and not supply a power cord so that they can just ship the same exact product to all international markets.
definitely did not know that, thanks for sharing
I just Ordered mine. I couldn’t Fit the bill for the ISO version, but i have a recording device already. Great review! I feel Like the television studio 4k will drop in price soon. I sold Mine and received top dollar to purchase the ATEMTV Studio HD8
thanks! and that’s great that there’s still a market for the studio 4K
The studio 4k is off of the BMD website at least here in India.
that mean there has to be a 4K version coming down the line fairly soon ya?!? 👀👀
@City on a Hill // Christian Filmmakers , it looks to be off the USA site as well. I remember this happening before after a new release and the 4k reappeared on the site later. My HD8 is in shipment now. I wish it at least had a small viewing screen built in the switcher like the 4k. I'm excited 😊
partner-Like it- pro . till next time. 🙂
Thank was beautiful guys!!!
