Motion Duck Decoys Review
After several seasons of use, I believe I have a good handle of the pros and cons of four different motion duck decoys. The Real Decoy Flutter Extreme and Higdon Pulsator are great additions to any spread, while the Higdon Swimmer and The Real Decoy Roughneck Swimmer leave me wanting.

S4 E3 Better Lucky, Than Good
Переглядів 1,5 тис.21 день тому
It's been a couple weeks since I've been able to get into the woods and my expectations are low after a flurry of sits in early November with no mature bucks sighted while hunting. A conversation with my brother-in-law motivates me to make on more sit before gun season arrives despite the 60 degree temperature. I decide to head out without most of my camera gear for simplicity, convinced nothin...
S4 E2 Hit and a Miss

With the first week of archery season behind us, we head into October and the best time of the season. Nick scores on a good buck, while I miss a golden opportunity. November comes and brings with it a chance to get for multiple sits during the best time of year.
S4 E1 Early Season

With no other big game hunts planned for the year, we put all our effort into hunting our home state of Ohio. Big bucks get our blood pumping, but we have a freezer to fill as well, so mature does are also on the menu.
An Early Season Honker Hunt with Waterfowl Athlete.

Tag along for a short early season honker hunt with a pair of full figure models from Waterfowl Athlete apparel (and one normal sized dude)! Filming waterfowl hunts is always a pain, especially when your in the blind, both calling and shooting, and your mind is on the birds, not the camera. Still we obtain some useful footage with an the old action camera on this early season honker hunt.
Inefficacious. An Archery Elk Hunt.

After years of applying, a rule change allowed me to draw a limited elk unit in Montana. After extensive planning, I make the two day drive to Montana, but not before my daughter gives me a departing gift of Influenza. The next two weeks I spend in the mountains is pure struggle, both mentally and physically. The elk don't seem to want to play, my body struggles to fight off illness, and my min...

Congrats! A few years back, the last day of archery here in PA was on Thanksgiving, and it was a perfect morning for deer movement so I headed to the stand. Against my wife’s wishes lol. Two hours into the hunt, I had a 140 inch 9 point on the ground, and had it home by 11am. My dad and cousins sure were pumped, but my wife still gives me shit about it 6 years later haha
Nice! I am lucky in that my wife generally encourages me to get out whenever I can, because she is a hunter too.
Congrats!
Beautiful buck man, and a great job filming in the woods!
Nice review!
awesome content man keep it up
nice chemtrails littering the skies on the ride out
You need a BOG Deathgrip tripod with the ball swivel. I set a new personal best here in NW Ohio. I whacked a groundhog at 522yd with my 22-250. I shot from my truck bed sitting on a 5 gal bucket using my Deathgrip.
I agree with you , the death grip went from handy tool to a must have item for chuck hunting after adding the ball swivel head
Yanquis stay home......we DO NOT want u in Newfoundland !!!!!!
New Subscriber here from Newfoundland, awesome shot Amanda made on that bull it was a nice animal , was patience waiting for that big boy to come in for a close shot , had a similar situation few years ago , came in from about 3/4 of a mile from where we saw him coming to the call. All great animals to bad the weather didn't cooperate
Nice, I'm headed there in October on a quest for redemption after I botched my vermont hunt last year.
Great adventure and beautiful country.... I live in BC and been hunting moose for 45 years...with my dad and brother...we are pushing 150 moose harvested...... love my moose meat
Big Agnes has great customer service. I like my seedhouse sl2 and my new rapid sl insulated sleeping pad. I noticed the Kuiu gear and I like my Kuiu products also and their customer service is great also. Kuiu and Big Agnes are my 2 favorite companies for hunting and camping. Good video!
I live in Maine to Newfoundland in the fall to hunt caribou. Any problems with bringing guns in or meat across the border ? Thanks great video
We didn't have any problems, but we were prepared. We downloaded the paperwork needed to bring our firearms into Canada and filled it out at home well before our trip. Once at the border we declared our rifles, and they inspected them and our paperwork, and we paid the fee. I believe our outfitter sent us the required paperwork, but you should look into the current requirements before making the trip. There may be more to it now as they are on their way to a dictatorship. To bring your firearms back into the States you needed to have paperwork that showed they were yours before going abroad. We stopped at US Customs office on our side of the border before crossing and got the paperwork we needed. This could take several minutes or several hours, so give yourself time. As for the meat, we had our tags and paperwork and I don't recall any type of inspection. I've never had any problem bringing meat back on 3 hunting trips over the years. This moose hunt was my most recent trip and it's hard to say what they are doing these days.
Thanks for getting back to me Guide service I booked with said they have gun I can use so think will save me hassle at the border I’ll just use there gun
nice video, very very good customer service indeed. Is the bottom made of strong or fragile material? I am considering if it really needs a groundsheet, as I dont like to need groundsheets, but obviously dont want the bottom the get punctured in case of very light materials like 10d nylon etc? Best regards from Denmark.
I'm not certain of the thickness of the floor materials. I would assume it is somewhat easy to puncture if one were to try. I do have and use the footprint from Big Agnes, though it is the 15 year old model but I've never had a puncture in the tent floor or the footprint. I believe it is thicker material their UL (Ultra Light) models such as the Tiger Wall and Copper Spur use. As with all gear, to lighten the product there is usually some trade off.
I went to Roberts outfitters in 2021 at the 4 ponds camp. I was not able to fill a tag as a hurricane kept the moose pretty low key all week. I will be back in 2025 to REX lake and this video is making it hard to wait. Awesome video.
Our hunt was definitely impacted my poor weather condition poor weather conditions, and it sounds like yours certainly was as well. The Rex Lake hunt was definitely a good experience. Good luck on your hunt!
Push bush...you would have...
What was the yardage of Amanda's downed Bull?
Her shot was around 300 yards, the bull went about 100 yards after being hit.
that looks like a tuff hunt if you went in those canyons good shooting why did it take so long for a second shot?
The buck headed downhill and to the left, she lost sight of it in her scope, and then he went out of sight. It was a poor hit and he was still moving decent. He only had two options, right or left as we where above a long cliff rim. He chose right, which gave him cover for a greater distance. We had to drop down toward the cliff rim to require him, when we did, he was probably 150 - 170 yards out circumnavigating the cliffs.
new sub here and great story Eric, im from deer lake and Otto and Anne got a great guide service there!! cheers Mt friend!
nice hunt. ups n downs but it looked worth it. congrats on you moose
terrible you couldnt find that one bull, dead for sure with all that blood.been there myself,it sucks really bad.
lm confused she shot the buch not 50 feet and the nexr shot was a long ways off ?
The parallax of the camera zoom made him appear much closer than he was. It was about an 80 yard shot. She struggled getting steady and made a poor shot. The buck headed downhill and to the left, she lost sight of it in her scope, then he went out of sight. He only had two options, right or left as we where above a long cliff rim. He chose right, which gave him cover for a greater distance. We had to drop down toward the cliff rim to require him, when we did, he was probably 150 - 170 yards out circumnavigating the cliffs.
Congratulations on the baby! What a crazy experience, thank you for sharing!
Great job! That couldn’t have been easy coming from Ohio (flatland) to Montana (mountains). Proud of you for taking it serious, losing some weight in the process in your preparation and making the most of it when you got here. Great Video. Keep up the good work and good luck on your future hunts!
Thanks! I knew it was likely to be a once in a lifetime tag. It only wish I'd spent more time preparing, it's is a real challenge trying to prepare for a serious mountain hunt when you live on a pancake flat plain at 800' elevation. Luckily I had and idea what I was in for as I lived and worked in that area years ago, and had some great friends willing to help me out and keep me in the game.
Now THATS custom service. Good to hear if my current tent takes a dive I'm not out of luck
Cool , I brought this tent in 2005 and just sent in 2021 end of to have them fix it the window out they replaced whole tent
Thanks for sharing! I've always liked Big Agnes gear, but the fact they replace gear after more than a decade puts them on a on another level.
my buddy showed me how to set the phone scope up properly to the sope your using and it came out great. also, turn your phone to a horizontal position and you won't have any vinyl.
Love the channel quality stuff
lol.. "might have got a little bigger" me too possibly.
I'd say, "sold!" but I already was....
I enjoy just watching the video... I've had life long enjoyment of playing with deer even as a kid.. before I could hunt.. used to go to the woods at night and call deer in .. I once had a doe get face too face with me I could feel it's breath on my face.. I sat so still.. Im going to say the head and ears looked huge in the moonlight It was a little intense.. wasn't sure if I was going to get licked or stomped.. I love deer.. hopefully government doesn't do anything stupid with this covid shit and whitetail season...
Looks like a tough hunt for you but super rewarding. Congrats! I love the footage of the goat looking straight down on you and then high tailing it.
Condensation?
The vast majority of the tent body itself is mesh, and it ventilates very well. The underside of the rainfly does get condensation on it, but as long as keep the fly off the netting you will have no problem. I've never had an issue with it.
How did it preform in the wind and rain if there was any? Thanks 🏴
Both the 2020 model and the 2006 model handled the rain very well in my experience. However the top of the vestibule door overhangs the tent floor in both models, so entry and exit will expose your sleeping bag to rain while it's open. It was more pronounced in the older model, the 2020 door is a more vertical. The 2006 model did begin to have minor leaks once the seam taping broke down, which is why Big Agnes replaced it. I can't say I recall experiencing any truly high winds with it (anything over 30-40 mph). I'm sure there were some fairly windy nights on open ridgetops over the years, and it handled them just fine.
@@sanduskyplainsltd.1217 Fantastic thanks for the info, cheers mate!
I ran into the same issue with my leupold gold ring. Wasted that money on the phone skope. Wish I saw this video before I purchased.
Spend the money on the correct fitment pieces and you wont be sorry!
So often we watch elite hunters with perfect shots. Thanks for putting out an accessible and very real hunting story. It isnt always pretty or perfect and a good thing to remember. Well done hitching up to a stud woman and hope being parents is more good than hard.
It’s not always perfect. You’re right. But that was a crap shot. A hard quartering to shot that hit that buck in the rear hip. She could have waited for a better shot or not took one.
Dads exact words “get that son of a bitch”
Don't slip!
That was a very entertaining and authentic production. Great job on that and also filling your tag with a once in a lifetime trophy!
Can't stand Whispering hunting videos.
Great video good job momma 👍🏻
Nothings wrong with shooting cows, they taste better anyway...
Nice guys, you ever shoot any of the steel plate matches down there? I've just started shooting the matches , man they are fun.
We have not. We've talked about going down just to watch a match and see what it's all about, but haven't made the journey. It's nearly a 3 hour drive for us, and we haven't made the trip in nearly 2 years. We were planning another trip down, but they stopped allowing .50's and now everything is shut down.
@@sanduskyplainsltd.1217 yea big caliber now is 338, everyone there is super helpful. If you come that far might as well bring a rifle and shoot a match. My last video shows all 36 shots I took in the last match they had there. That will give you an idea of what to expect.
@@ramsaycountry1177 Absolutely, everyone is helpful and positive we've encountered there, a great atmosphere! I'll have to check out your video. We're primarily hunters, so we've only shot out past 500 the two or three times we've been to Rayners, but it's a blast and we're looking to get more time in on the range.
Great video! I was born and raised in SC Montana (still live here acutally!), so this was fun to watch! Congrats on the big news! Hope all is well with you and your's!!! Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks! I spent nearly a decade living and working around the Little Belts, I can't visit often enough these days. Life is good with the little one, but she is hampering efforts to get out and make videos like this.
That cold and snow was following you guys
Great video! Snuck right up on them! What caliber?
Thanks! She's shooting a Tikka T3 chambered in .270 Winchester, loaded with 140 grain Nosler Accubonds.
Nice video
That Buck isn’t worth risking your life for.😎
Totally! We dropped all our gear to safely climb down into the tops of the cliffs to find the blood streak where the deer slid down and over the edge, then we traversed about a mile to find a gap in the cliffs to get under them. You can see the gap in the cliffs in the final pack out scene. It was a lot more work on the recovery, but it makes a great story!
Well if the shot didn’t do the trick, the cliff dive definitely did. Jesus that’s a big drop!
Awesome recovery. Lots of work. Wow and pregnant
