wow. nice find. yeah, they are synced up perfectly to the frame. I didn't notice this before lol.

my guess is they were only able to use rectangles and circles, so phase 3 saltbaker had to just have a TON of rectangles to fit the shape. I can only guess why the platforms have so many overlaying parts.. maybe in development, the end of one was used as a starting place for spinners? I have no idea. it is weird though. Especially Phase 1. But there could have been a different layout for the fight that just wasn't removed.

@gary_asher Cala Maria's fish has a diamons hitbox, wouldn't that have been a lot better?

@sona-the-persona2009 good point. i hadn't really thought about that. tbf, i didn't make the game, so maybe devs hadn't thought of it either.

it was made a lot easier by having P. Sugar equipped. one less button press, plus no parry cancel when close to the ground.

Generally games tend to make hitboxes smaller than the visual model as a leniency feature. It makes there be less edge cases where it feels like you should have surivived even if you hit the hitbox by one or two pixels.

you actually can for cigar. the problem is that he faces towards you regardless of where he spawns on the screen. In co-op you can actually have alternate agro so you both are behind him, but triggering his AI to face towards the middle. You can get behind tipsy troupe, but it's not very effective. I think you can get behind Phear Lap too, but it's basically useless.. I did experiment with going below the horses with Ms Chalice to try to dodge everything, but I couldn't find anything that could hit him (aside from taking Coffee/Divine Relic and waiting for EX). you can get behind Hopus Pocus and use invincible roll/dash to avoid skulls. I actually do this in my Expert All Isles Full Clear run with Twist-up.

@gary_asher I love pushing games to its limits to do dumb things. I discovered a bunch of stupid tech in Webfishing when the game came out and it was a blast

@sona-the-persona2009 maybe.. i did try to beat phear lap with chalice by staying at the bottom of the screen. you can advance the frames of the video by pressing < or >. Phear lap takes up the top right part of the screen. The blue horse is also kind of weird.. sometimes it hits you when you are mini-plane and other times it doesn't. i don't really know why this happens.

yup! i don't remember how much HP it has.. iirc, the secret phase nuns have less HP than the babies. at least the feel like they do.

Other interesting thing about Mr Wheezy is that his lips hitbox doesn't damage him. i try to show this when he is low HP. Watch from 2:20

You can check that there are hearts particles right above the pink card for Chalice since she can only parry sideways.

i could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain grim doesn't have an area that deals double damage. although he DOES having multiple hitboxes, only one is is considered even if both are hit. Charge shot deals 46 damage and I couldn't find anywhere in phase 1 where he takes 92 damage. But again, i could be wrong. if you find video of him taking double damage, can you link it here?

you need to update the dll file and swap it out with the one in the game files. there might be a tutorial for it.. if not, the speedrunning community knows how to do it.
