Shop Build Part 1 - Clearing Everything Out

Taking the first steps to getting my shop set up. After years of waiting, I finally got a SawStop. Paying for one has never been the issue, it was just nearly impossible to get one in my old basement shop. I also knew we were going to be moving at some point and didn't want to worry about getting it out. Anyway, I was lucky enough to have my landscaping guys use their skid steer to carry this f...

I made a pocket screw jig from a 4" piece of scrap. Why spend any money

That's fine. I'm saying if you're drilling a lot of pocket holes, you're wasting time and energy with the tiny one you clamp to the table. It took me maybe 15 minutes to drill 50 pocket holes with the 720 and minimal effort. It would have take 30-45 minutes with the other one and at least 3x more effort.

The bag you threw out can bring a few hundred bucks for the wood you buy. Add melted wax. Make small bricks. Good money maker!

$4 board, maybe get $25 for one. Not a bad profit, but $100 isn't happening unless you find someone who wants to spend $100 on a birdhouse.

Plenty of people have. I sold about 15 before I got tired of making them. Plenty of people are paying more for different birdhouses. A lot of people in these comments seem to be projecting what they'd be willing to pay on to what other people would be willing to pay.

@@slightlycrookedworkshop no, we use markers at my job. I draw the cutting line with the marker and tape directly on the metalic items. They are easier to wipe before the items leave to customers.

Nice design. You might consider adding a c-hook to the side to keep predators from opening the box. Also, consider adding a few ridges on the inside to serve as a ladder 🪜 so the baby birds can climb out easier. Tyfs and Happy building!

Try being more confident and looking directly at the camera. I can tell you are uncomfortable looking all over the place. You are doing great and better than anyone else not putting out videos. Maybe take a shot or two before filming to loosen up those nerves. It kinda like a first date

If you charge that much you will sell less. $35-$40 is the going rate for cedar bird houses. I sell more cedar bird houses than I can make. You should always leave the outside rough if using raw wood, and never paint them. They should weather to blend in with its natural surroundings.

Looks good and the metal around the hole is a good idea. You might want to reduce the entrance to the size of a quarter. Smaller song birds will be attracted. Otherwise a large allows Jay's and starlings and they will destroy the eggs.
