    These guys are going for speed not "understanding" and plus they probably encounter someone who stutters only maybe once a year - and always a guy. I'm not saying give THEM a break, I'm saying there's basically no way for them to be prepared to know how to act correctly in this situation. Great job holding your confidence and patience!

    • @ge0rgiatalks
      @ge0rgiatalks 4 дні тому

      hmm I disagree..I think disability and inclusion training needs to include stammering, I do think there is a need for it and I do think it would be worthwhile for them to be educated. I do understand they are under time pressure and were probably very busy. thats why I gave her grace and patience. at the end of the day, this is why I post these videos, to raise awareness. people can learn from it :)

    Very few people understand how frustrating it is when you're trying to explaining yourself and interrupt with presumptions. I'm so glad you maintained your patience while the server was rushing you. I understand she has a job to do but a little patience doesn't hurt. Good on you 👍🏽😊

      thank you! I know, I really do try and give them grace, as they think they're helping. but in reality, it was making me more stressed, which was then making it worse. I was very close to losing my patience actually! but that wouldnt have helped the situation. I stayed calm as much as possible, ive also reached out to their customer service team and hopefully more training will be given to their staff :)

    For more suggestion you can do contact me if you want i can share more tips regarding stammering as i have gone all through this myself and so proud a person of the same community taking such a brave step of vlogging and doing it outside and exposing yourself to difficult situation as this is one of the main step to overcome stammering

  • @debajitroy6611
    @debajitroy6611 Місяць тому

    Georgia, Myself Debajit Roy from India. I am a stammerer my self, and with God's grace and blessings i have overcome 95 to 97percent of my stammering by what you are doing now, through exposure therapy and because anxiety comes in your chest and your chest feels heavy while outside exhale that anxiety through mouth by thr following steps. Inhale through mouth upto chest hold that air and mix that air with the anxiety and then exhale that air with the mouth slowly do it 5 to 6 times the anxiety will start to reduce. And while speaking you can follow the following steps: 1.Mouth inhale fill the chest and the belly if you feel like there is space left use nose. 2. Hold the air in chest 3. Put tongue in the foundation 4. Open mouth downside jaw part words will come out easily because after the jaw comes down it brings the tongue down with it which automatically creates a space between the tongue and the teeth and the upper jaw in the mouth which allows the words to come out of the mouth very easily

    1:20 I can relate to this, it's best not to overthink it, sometimes your fluency will fluctuate even with the simplest things such as talking to yourself. I had this recently where I could perfectly introduce myself on the phone at work, but then a couple of weeks ago I started getting stuck on one word for the first time in a while. It's best to not get frustrated and just remind yourself it will return back to normal 😁

    Thanks for posting, I really admire you for recording this. I too am a person who stutters. I would suggest checking out the McGuire program. I did a course with them some years ago. Perhaps it doesn't work for everyone and I still have lots of work to do, but for me, the costal breathing parts of the techniques they teach help me sooo much in those sort of situations. I agree with you that awareness is important, but I think its our job to educate people also. I do disclosures all the time ie telling people I have a stutter. Once its out in the open I find it a lot easier to deal with. Best wishes and keep up the good work.

    Hang in there Georgia, I’ve had a stutter my whole life. Drive-thrus always give me anxiety too. Lol. I’m always good until I have to say the drink, for some reason. Can’t tell you how many diet cokes I ordered just because I can say Diet Coke no problem. But regular coke, I block on the hard “c” something fierce. I think only someone else who stutters can know the frustration and how we tend to beat ourselves up after especially embarrassing episodes. You seem like a very lovey and charming young lady . And having to deal with this ( and I get it, it seems like it’s the one disability, that it’s ok to still make fun of for some reason?) has made you so much stronger then even you realize. To finish, I just want to say I’m proud of you. Because I know what it feels like. Everyday, you put yourself out there and try again. Even though you know what’s in store. Not everyone is strong enough to do that. But you are. Keep being you. Because you’re amazing. Really. STAY AWESOME! ✌️😎 Philadelphia, USA
