Dramatic Tasks to find parking Thanks for the shout out about the Fun Raiser series
The "Fey in LA" concept is scratching all the right itches. I can't wait to see more!
sorry didnt catch it live.... Think I am going to buy the Vermillium for SW. Its on DrivethruRPG. it looks cool. Never heard of it til you mentioned it last week or so. Backed beneath the pyramids shadow. Fey in LA doesnt seem to be for me, not a fan of the time period, so best of luck to them. Sounds cool. My group likes Sci Fi and Fantasy only. Tell those Pinnacle folks Sara is the best.
Excellent points. #5 is the whole reason I'm playing SW now instead of D&D. Got tired of listening to 30+ minutes of "my math can beat your math" per session between the same players that freak out when you add a random +2 somewhere because it'll totally break the game. 😮💨To each their own but... I'm done with that.
Thank you SO MUCH for this review! This is only the beginning for the Scarred Lands in Savage Worlds!
Rending is crazy! I wonder if Scarred Lands is, generally speaking, still designed to be a more dangerous setting? Looking forward to see more.
It absolutely will be more dangerous! More creatures are dropping monthly and look out for the Gauntlet of Spiragos adventure with ready-made characters and setting rules coming in March!
Well done and don’t worry about making mistakes. I play Savage Worlds with my grandson and when I mess up I explain what I did and reward my player with a Benny. We are both learning as we play the game, so mistakes are a part of the process. I have thought for years that this setting should be in Savage Worlds; and I’m excited to see it’s happening.
I loved Scarred Lands in the 3e era. It'll be interesting to see how it's adapted for Savage Worlds.
From what I am seeing, I am very excited. Its funny that the one Adventure I have run from the setting is what is getting converted first.
Did you design this game? If so, I am pretty curious about the mythology or history of the two brothers mentioned in the original game. The brother who founded the templars and the one that ended up being illuminati or phoenicians or whatever. Was that made up for the game or is that based on a conspiracy that is already out there or something? I searched for it on the web but I couldn't find anything.
Yes, finally, an interesting MMORPG transits on to the papers of TRPG. Not see something like this since Everquest. Can't wait to see other MMORPG do the same. Some of them have very cool world, but the game itself leave much to desire.
Thanks, we are looking forward to keep making books for the Secret World.
Dig it. Buy both 😎
So looking forward to Solomon Kane to ship. Can't wait.
Same! I am very excited to get a hold of it. Shouldn't be much longer now.
Great vid and tips. I'm the proud owner of Shadows of The Sacred Hills and love it. Smart idea. Well executed.
Where is that damn Martial Arts companion 😭
Have they confirmed they are actually doing it? The just finished the last of the actual companions that everyone expects. I am curious to see if they actually make additional companions.
@ it WAS mentioned but that feels forever ago now. Haven’t heard an update on it in a long time. I’m not alone in expecting it though, unless this is another Kazaam movie situation…
@@Sacred_Art_of_Gaming I know they talked about maybe doing it, but I wasn't sure if they ever confirmed they were actually going to work on it.
@@TheSavageGoose walp…this is sad news then. It came up a lot around the ghost mountain campaign but I will just assume its not coming anytime soon if its something not on your radar
Monster Truckers looks awesome :) Tricube Tales is very rules-lite (drawing more of its inspiration from games like Fate, Risus, and BitD), but I've played Savage Worlds for so long that it's certainly had an influence on my design. There's also a supplement called Tricube Tactics which is more directly inspired by Savage Worlds, and is aimed at people who want a bit more crunch than the core system provides.
Thanks for the shout out for Fun Raiser: It's all in the cards hope you enjoy using it in your games
Very nice, ive been playing a campaing using no power points. It's a nice perspective and makes me feel very powerfull
What if I'd like to run a fantasy style game not set in the world of Pathfinder?
I'd recommend core + fantasy companion.
@@TheSavageGoose Thanks, I'll look into it.
I'm looking forward to the SWADE update for Broken Earth! Got my map already, should be getting the books in - a few months?
That is going to be an excellent setting!
Dragons are always wasted as just an encounter. They make great recurring NPCs though. Friendly ones as well as opponents. And they are really great big bad guys for a campaign or a series of adventures in a longer campaign. Never let the players just stumble upon a dragon or decide on a whim that they want to slay a dragon. Maybe it even has henchmen (or henchgoblins, or whatever) and the players encountered them before. This needs an entire story arc. Including special preparations on part of the players to stack the deck against the dragon to a point where they have a chance to survive and tell the tale.
I found myself disliking the DnD playerbase - especially the murderhobo and/or Chaotic Neutral players as well as the general powergaming mindset. I also came to loathe the multi-hour combats - which dominate the game to the exclusion of any actual roleplay. And that the system is sort of the Rolls Royce of RPGs to where I could not justify the cost of all of the books. I started to look for "One book" RPGs where having only one book is the entire game. I also came to actually dislike the "fantasy" genre overall. So yeah, have been playing Savage Worlds (SWADE) for about 5 years now.
Thanks for mentioning the Savage Iron Kingdoms translation I did! It's been a ton of fun to run for my table (and we're still working on some more).
I am not too familiar, but someone mentioned in the chat, so I brought it up.
Was looking for this. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful.
Any possibility of a link to the discord?
Yeah, here you go! discord.com/invite/VqT7CJj
@@TheSavageGoose Thank you!
Han Cluster is at the top of my list, overshadowing everything else. From the sound of things I may not be backing any of PEG's upcoming crowdfunds, or perhaps only at a PDF level. My interests lie elsewhere, though I'll probably never let go of SW itself.
I'm just interested in a lot of 3rd Party Savage Worlds content right now
I heard they had taken over the Robotech/Macross line, or has that gone to outside Pinnacle for development.
There was a Savage Worlds book for Robotech, but I haven't heard anything about anyone taking it over.
Best summary of why SW is great I have seen! Good work!
Hey, to sort of explain the difference between the different Pathfinder, one is simulationist d20 system like an upgrade to dnd 3rd edition with their own setting and it was darker and edgier in a time that was already open to being dark and edgy. Pathfinder 2e is a lot more safe feel-wise, a lot zanier in some ways as well but shies away from gritty classic fantasy tropes. A pathfinder 1e party might be a dwarf, two humans, an elf, and a tiefling or ratperson, where pf2e has magical constructs, pug-people, centaurs and pixies, and more, and has a very colorful, silly zany feel to it that lacks the grounded edge of old pathfinder. Its far more politically correct and the language of the books talks down to you like you're an idiot telling you how you should run your game in a rather patronizing fashion. It also has a glut of classes where its rare to see a pathfinder 2e party that doesn't look absolutely ridiculous.
Pathfinder 1e has 39 playable classes, while 2e has 23. Just sayin'.
Very cool and enlightening podcast. Pete, I just ordered one of your adventures off Drive Thru.
I have both. SW PF is good if you want to have a PF / DnD experience mixed with SW. I usually use it for one shots in DnD settings like Planescape, Ravenloft or Dark Sun. But you will also be stuck with classes and a higher power level and a ton of spellcasters. SWADE Core + Fantasy Companion remains as classless as Savage World usually is. It produces less overpowered charakters. And it is more adaptable. I will soon start a campaign in a home brew world where only a few arcane backgrounds exist and the races are completely retailored to fit the setting and campaign better. And I prefer the arcane backgrounds in the Fantasy Companion over the arcane classes in SWPF every day of the week.
Goose, I've got a rules question. For the SWPF cleric, that seasoned power does a Wound if the undead don't resist. Would this shake a skeleton or destroy it outright? I've got to be honest, I've read that wounds table over and over and it's more confusing than helpful.
Hey Cavemancavan. Undead do not get to not resist. If you just want to say fail, that is fine. In either case all would take a Wound, which is a -1 to everything. Most undead are going to be Extras, so it would just kill them, but if it is a Wildcard, they would just have one of their 4 Wounds marked off. Which wound table are you referring to that you are confused about?
@TheSavageGoose I'm more just making sure when it says "takes a wound" that it does an actual wound, not Shaken and then needs another one. And the one on 127 (129 pdf)
@@Cavemancavan Correct. It does mean an actual Wound. The table is trying to illustrate something that I think gets over explained sometimes, but it is not relevant to that ability.
good info but genAI used in video = dislike
All good. Thanks for watching!
The Evernight PDF came with the original SWADE KS as a stretch goal. It's from the early days of SW, and is a scripted campaign. There's room to interject your own stuff, but the major points are quite linear.
I should have clarified what I meant. Specifically I meant a new SWADE specific setting, or an old one updated to SWADE
Great stuff as always. Definitely promoting number 4. Always give bennies freely, use them for your NPCs - but not at the expense of the players enjoyment (when they get *that one great roll/roleplay* moment) and encourage the expenditure of bennies as new players tend to hoard them for that *special occasion* when they dont need to. - DW PEG
