Having nearly drowned, it is a terrifying experience. So I can relate to what Hawkeye was saying.

These scenes with Alda and Arbus should be in every highlight reel of the best scenes in the entire show's history. I think their best scene happened in the final episode, where Pierce had to talk about something that happened on a bus.

Y'know... I just realized that this was another of those little hints to GFA... Hawkeye has a history of lying to himself about what happens in his life in order to keep his own sanity.

I tried to do this dance for talent show in middle school - but I tried doing it without announcing what dance I was doing so it would be a surprise. 4/5 of the teachers watching guessed it and while they were impressed I tried doing it, they said it really needed background dancers for it to have impact. So I did “Step in time” instead - the song edited so I didn’t need Mary Poppins - but I managed to persuade two other fellows to join me in what was a bootcamp of high kicks, break dance, and what limited parkour we could do on stage. We had the routine down and absolutely believing it to be our best performance the year prior we did Darth Maul vs Obi Wan and Qui Gon What we didn’t expect a magician comedian to go before us and it included sand and feathers….his tricks failed so he pulled them off as comedic act instead… It didn’t dawn on us how the feathers and sand would affect us until I nearly slipped walking out…and we proceeded to slip slide the whole routine… ….that was our performance…Slip in time…

Another tedious vanity project for Alan Alda. He would reuse this claptrap in the final episode, when the suppressed memory comes flooding back and he bursts into his bawling routine! (I believe he even repeats the same line: “You bastard, why did you make me remember that?”) In other episodes, he suffers a concussion and performs a monologue throughout the show; falls in love with a Korean woman; falls in love with a Swede; encounters his college girlfriend; suffers from nightmares; and reveals he has claustrophobia. These are a few of the reasons why I prefer the first three years, with the original cast - before Alda officially became a “Creative Consultant.”

The acting in this show has always been phenomenal, but the look of confusion on Hawkeye’s face right before he starts crying, then the inhale when he remembers, is almost chilling to see once you notice it.

Just marvel at the choreography of this routine. Dick van dyke is often ridiculed for his cockny accent in this and mary poppins but we forget when a genious he was. A brilliant dancer and singer and an all round entertainer. I could watch this and step in time all day to just make me feel good ❤

All the dancers must know that Caractacus isn't a member of the group yet are so professional about the new edition that they give the new guy solos and adjust bits around him towards the end.

There IS NO Sidney Friedman in real life, and never was. There is no consulting detective of the mind. If you have a problem you have to save yourself, and be your own detective and problem solver, and if you can't you either die, or you survive and eventually deal with it. There is no one who will even talk to you, just a guy in an expensive suit with some snake oil, and what good is talk anyway. Unless they can leave you a little clues about how the system really works. I don't need to see any more, or to watch 10 seasons again, about how overworked and miserable these doctors are, and yet they spend a lot of time goofing off, we rarely see them in surgery. Flim Flam. Case closed. Moving on.

i always wonder how this routine was SUPPOSED to go. like if Dick’s character had never showed up and the guy who’s supposed to wear his costume did and everything went off without a hitch, what a would it have looked like? how much of what the other guys did was just improv to match what Dick was doing?
