There is a motor BLDC motor driver called Odrive that might do the trick. It’s a bitch to set up though. But it can be set to a certain frequency/speed and runs happily at 36V. It’s a bit overkill as you obviously don’t have any feedback from the motor to use, but it runs fine without it too.

The same thing can be accomplished by removing the resonator on the down pipe or by removing the down pipe. That way you can keep using the stock box with the emission return hose.

Higher line frequency makes transformers and induction motors a lot smaller and lighter, hence why switch mode power supplies use 10kHz or higher internally. There are also 400Hz systems used on trains, submarines, airplanes etc.

A friend of mine used to be a shop fitter, and he once acquired the compressors from 4 of those 6' long, sliding glass topped display freezers from a large independent store. The store actually PAID him to come and take these working freezers away and scrap them, so he yanked out the compressors to keep, then separated out all the different metals, and weighed it all in at the local metal recyclers to get even more money. So in essence, he'd been paid TWICE for the privilege of being given 4 perfectly usable high capacity freezer compressors. :D Anyway, he found a broken 3 phase compressor on a 150L tank going for next to nothing on Facebook Marketplace (He weighed in the damaged cast iron pump and motor from that too, so buying the tank also ended up making him money !). He welded up a box section frame and fitted all the pumps to it on rubber mounts, then bolted that to the tank. The interesting bit was that he got a 1 to 4 air hose splitter and mounted 4 adjustable pressure switches on it with each compressor having it's own switch. This meant that first thing he could manually start the compressors one at a time to avoid the huge start-up power spike of all 4 trying to start at once and tripping the breaker. The start/stop pressures were all set slightly different too, so as he used air the compressors would kick in one at a time. That setup was an absolute beast. The compressors were plumbed into 4 separate tank inlets to avoid unnecessary restrictions, and it had something like a 1.5" ID outlet plumbed directly into his sandblasting cabinet. With all 4 pumps running it could still slowly increase the tanks pressure even WHILE he was constantly using the sandblaster !!! The kicker was that it could do that while making less noise than a Labrador suffering with flatulence ! :D

An old machinist I knew long ago had a screw like this put in his heel and later removed. He could spent 15 minutes describing that screw in exacting detail, pretty much giving the same rundown you just did. It brought a tear to his eye as he described the screw as "a thing of beauty".

What kinda cfm do these fridge compressors output? just need a bigger one? Would the compressor in a hvac outdoor unit be similar in function? This is awesome and honestly makes sense and I've never thought of it. I have THE LOUDEST 50 gallon AIR compressor in my shop. I've gone almost all air tools, but paint gun, sanders, grease gun stay air.

Vfd drives increase volts with freq. This was a slow moving motor isnt drawing infinite amps. Volts increase to rated volts only when rated speed (hz) is reached. Using a volts/hz ratio.

Was that a 7.62 round there? One of the favourite guns stateside is the British Army FN SLR which is made under licence still in the US and considered a queen of auto and semi auto rifles because that 7.62 round doesn't just make a hole, it makes a bloody gaping chasm in stuff it hits and even has a killing range of mile and half with a scope, of course nothing comes close to the true queen of them all the Lee-Enfield .303 which was a NATO sniper rifle in its own right and 2 miles blow someone's turnip off clean sort of crazy range, they are made stateside still too.

The thing with Soviet stuff is so much of it is a swing and a miss every time and the shameless plundering of western designs is amusing too. One such case was the Politburo decided "hey the masses need cheap transport" and the usual suspects in the design sphere came up dry, it was big fat motorbikes or nothing so a diplomat in the Soviet embassy in Italy was sent money and instructions to go buy a Vespa 150cc "phatbody" (they had asked Piaggio for a licence to build Vespa's but Piaggio said nyetski matey) which he did and sent it back to Moscow via diplomatic bag where engineers took it painstakingly apart with something like 10 levels of magnification technical drawings for every single part. They then looked at European roads and saw that Soviet roads were a bit crap so they beefed up the suspension and brakes and also seeing how the Indian's built their Vespa's doubled the thickness of the main frame and before long the Soviet's were turning out the Vyatka which is Russian for wasp same as Vespa is latin for wasp and the Vyatka was an absolute success and the favourite of the Soviet political obedience officers who would potter about rural areas on their Vyatka to ensure all citizens were good citizens for the Soviet paradise and citizens learned to fear the putt putt putt in the distance because nearly all the officers were bent as a 9 dollar note and grew fat and rich from the bribes they extracted or gulag the citizens would go as political saboteurs. There are still Vyatka's on Russian roads today, handed down father to children whilst there are very few of the Vespa 150's in existence. They were crazy folks to be sure, I collect Soviet timepieces having a world rated Soviet collection of watches and some are ugly as sin and some are awesome like the military driven Vostok Amphibia's and many had jaunty artwork on the dials celebrating victory over the Germans or some part or parcel of Soviet life like one of my dials celebrates 250 years of Russian roads, another similar for the railways and another oil wells lol

YOU ARE WRONG ABOUT VFD/VSD. VSD/VFD by definition change voltage. They produce a sine wave at different freqencies, so they must be able to create voltages at each level of the sine wave. VFD can actually drive to higher voltage than the input because a VFD/VSD first converts AC to DC, eg if you have 240V AC on the input of a VFD, the actual peak voltage is 340V, or V * root(2). VFD: 1. Input -> Diodes -> DC 2. Capacitor to store the DC 3. IGBT/Transistors/FETS -> AC Output Most VFD have the ability to set a maximum/motor normal voltage, it just rarely they can go so low as 36v but that's a implementation limitation rather than a technological limitation. Additional an VFD running at lower freqencies also drive a lower peak voltage, think a sine wave where the period changes but also reduces the amplitude. They do this because a motor turning at a lower speed has less load than running at full speed, so if you drive with the same voltage you'll end up over heating the motor, as the voltage/current is turned into heat instead of rotation/work. I use to work with VFD/VSD day in day out. And I just looked up a Danfoss FC102, it has a programmable motor voltage of 10-1000V. So i'm pretty sure you'll be able to find a VFD that should work for your application.
