Good luck, Ryan, on Whatnot! It's new to me, but I'll check it out. Keep on rock'n it!
Ryan & Steve, thank you for bringing The Ursulines back from nonexistence! My name is Rick, and I played on this demo. I have not heard this in a very long time! Someone who saw this video (and a previous one) liked the music and found my old Google Voice number online and gave me a call. What a trip! Unfortunately, Cory passed away ten years ago. I haven’t talked to Derek or Ted since the 90’s. Those were fun times… we played a lot of shows in Chicago and had a decent following of folks from Loyola University in Rogers Park, where the four of us lived. Anyway, there is another demo tape by The Ursulines before this one (probably ‘91), which I wasn’t a part of, and I don’t have a copy of that one either. I’ll get in touch with a friend that might have it. If you’re willing-I would love a digital transfer of this demo. Made me smile to hear it again, and it actually sounds alright! If I ever get a copy of the earlier one, I’ll send it over. Thanks again!
Rick!!! Oh my God, I can't even tell you how excited I am to see this comment. I can/will absolutely send you the audio. Would you be down to chat? ryanhpodcast@gmail.com
YES!!! Thanks for your lovely message Rick, updates like this are one of the things I love most about this podcast. Sending you very best wishes! Thanks for the tunes.

@@steverosier5880 Thank you, Steve. Looking forward to future episodes!
Cool stuff.
@@britpopbuzz8564 right??
This is really good stuff o.O
When you said 1988 I had high hopes for a great unknown hair metal band. But the Doors meet Deep Purple sound was pretty damn good. Glad to have you and Steve back at it!
14:53 this takes to the 90s
The front man for them is Tom Dalpra. Great raw garage band.
The more I learn, the more I love this band!
Sounds great!
@VintageAlternative: Been trying to get a hold of you. I have an idea for a band you should try to seek out for an interview. The band is called the Charthogs. They had two albums, one released on the indie label normal records. The other was released on Atlantic records entitled Do Your Mind. They were another of those one and done type of bands. Despite being signed to a major label during a time when Nirvana was still at the height of their popularity, the Charthogs still managed to put out a pretty decent alternative rock album back in 1994. The whereabouts of them today are unknown. What is known is that they originally came from San Fernando Valley in California, and Bassist RIc Markmann would later show up in Chris Cornell's post-Soundgarden backing band. Here is the lineup of the band: Bass, Vocals - Ric Markmann Drums - Mauro Rubbi Guitar, Lead Vocals - Danny Pinnella Guitar, Vocals - Mat Dennis
Thanks for the heads up!
Screeching weasel interview, make it happen!
Liked and subbed nibba. Thx

I would love to own a copy of this cassette. Would you ever think of selling it? I'd also settle for a digital transfer of it to wav or flac

Good that you found them
I still have a cassette player in my car.

The bass lines on Rubberneck are epic
Maaan this brought back so many memories! I remember buying his exact same tape with my allowance money back when I was in highschool. My dad would play it for me in his car stereo everyday while dropping me off at school.

I’ve just released my new album on Minidisc, as well as other formats. It’s not dead and has kind of become a collectible and usable thing again
Dulcinea. The first album I ever owned (late into the music scene being born in 75) and, halfway through side A, I was already mesmerized. Now, more than 30 years later, Toad have maintained position as my favorite band just ahead of The Beatles. They inspired a life long love of music and a ten year career as a bass player.
Anyone know the band 'Kinky Machine' and their attempted debut album 'Bent' ? (the band were formerly, loosely 'Rialto')
PS I'm also a fan of Peccadillos, got a studio recording of a cool track by them called 'Blood Orrange' - anybody know it?
Wow! Great channel, I have lots of quality unsigned material in my collection, some of these bands I recorded i my role as studio engineer. Would love to share some examples if anybody wants to hear some. I'm English and our band toured with blur/radiohead between 1992-5 Shame we didn't make the big time like like some of the bands we shared stages with... With regards acts that didn't get picked up - we all know it's invariably more luck than when it comes to record companies and the 'wisdom' A & R folk who know more about marketing than music (fact..) Waffle done, over & out - ha! Peace fellow indie lovers
they were the next big thing liteerally everywhere but the u.s.
Going for Gold is a masterpiece guitar, lyrics, drums and voice. Oasis had the song live for ever but for me 'Mark' is an absolute banger. Glad to have been a teen in the early 90's in England. Thanks Shed Seven!
Great interview! Pioneers in that great age... no internet, just guts and adrenaline riding the waves of music and image, before internet, TV channels, etc. Very cool band. Always been in love with her.
Before television?? That`s been around since the 1950s at least!!
Didn't belong in the band??? Glen you're the lead singer lol
GO RANGERS!!!!!!
Ryan Hamilton looks like the comedian Ryan Hamilton.
Thank you mailing lists, Without those I would have never heard for Toad the wet sprocket. All these years later and I still listen to them.
Saw them in concert last night they were great!!!
All I want was one of my favorite songs from toad the wet sprocket but you can't even view it on UA-cam anymore it said it's not available in this country what's the deal
I went with my buddy to see them at Trees in 91 maybe. I knew nothing about them but I told my friend, these guys are going to be successful rockstars like 3 songs in . Deep Ellum was happening, lots of great bands early to mid 90s
Cath Carroll's lovely vocals and a bass reminiscent of Alan Rankine of The Associates on the song Club Country. May be lacking in some areas but it's a fine song from my youth & one I still enjoy listening to.
remind me of my childhood, very cooll
Ahh looking up his background now the cry baby Antichrist music makes sense beta
Had a couple regionally successful bands in Detroit area during the Toad era. Even performed a couple songs that were wildly received at our shows. And even then, audience would sometimes ask "did you write that". Toad was known but not widely like mainstream pop/rock bands. Met Glen and Toad several times - he is exactly like what I just watched in your interview. Soft spoken, intelligent, down to earth and smart. I too have their original CD's from the 90's and a Couple of obscure tracks that I have no idea where I got them. Loved your interview...just subscribed. Allen in Nashville!🎸🎶🤠
This is a great interview! I look up to Lisa as a female bass player who is still new at the instrument. Possum Kingdom was one of the first songs I learned to play!
Bro I was on the Toad mailing list and every time something came in the mail from them it felt so personal and the hype was always there.
Bill was the best and I love that full album, every song
Cara Dillon is a wonderful singer with a sweet crystalline voice. The album you forgot the name of is her second solo one "Sweet Liberty" from 2003 which is a fantastic collection of reworked traditional songs and some of her own. This track is from 1998 around the time she was in a group named Equation alongside her future husband Sam Lakeman and while it is fairly good it's certainly no Moonlight Shadow and it certainly isn't the best example of her vocal abilities.
I used be member of a not "licenced" FM radio in the 90's , in Argentina .. and "Toad the wet sproket "..was the kind of band mandatory in any clandestine FM radio.
