What is the best way to pick a mushroom?
"In my opinion, there's no definitive right or wrong answer to this question. Sometimes, pulling might be the better option, while in other cases, cutting the stem is preferred." These are my claims backed by the scientific data I was able to gather. Let me know what you think of this in the comments, Also sorry for the lack of uploads. Lots of love to all my supporters. -Dan

Symbiosis Explained
Переглядів 8046 місяців тому
Symbiosis; like when spiderman merged with venom to make one symbiotic organism?? Well kind of but not quite. Think of symbiosis as a 'catch-all' term for all creature relationships over a decent length of time. These relationships are grouped into one of 6 possible categories: Mutualism, commensalism, parasitism, neutralism, amensalism, and competition. 📍Socials~ Instagram: @igkowalski Pinpoin...

Really well crafted video with great animations! Yes, mushrooms are born to die and were here millions of year before humans and will be here millions of years after regardless of how foragers harvest some of them. The only thing I take issue with is that a single morel does not release billions of spores, it's more like hundreds of thousands. Another point worth mentioning is that trampling inhibits the growth of the fungus by means of soil compaction inhibiting the growth of hyphae as well as by crushing any mushroom primordia when they emerge.

One thing I’ve noticed help with mushroom patches regardless of if you pick or cut it you can tap the mushroom before you pick it to release the spores, the next time you come there will be more mushrooms

In south New Jersey, for only one or two days in the Fall, my friends and I (age10-12), would find oil beetles that appeared out of nowhere in the mowed field behind my house. Never saw them at any other time of year; never saw them moving normally. What's weird is that they could barely move, even though the temperature was only mildly cool, and we couldn't figure out why they even showed up. I think the idea that getting the oil on your skin produces huge blisters is a myth. We used to collect them with our bare hands, occasionally getting the oil on our skin, wiping it off without any effect. About time I researched this.

To me they superficially look like infant rattlesnakes but without the rattle, in terms of their scaling and coloration. But I'd be more worried about their bite and possible infection, and their skunk-like noxious emission. They are kind of cute though, as far as snakes go. I'm not a snake person, obviously.

@@KipaYumiya yeah sometimes I forget that I've been doing it for so long it's a confusing hobby for other people. My best advice is to set out for one edible mushroom species and do research on how the poisonous look-a-likes are different. Like for instance morels are always hollow from stem to cap but false morels are not.
