Without getting too heavy into editing, this is a quick way to take your Christmas light display videos up a notch. Using DaVinici Resolve, free video editing software, you can add in the actual audio track you used for your sequences into your videos. It only takes a couple of minutes and is well worth the time if you are going to share a video of your display.
Projector and TV Power Control with Falcon Player

Turn a TV or Projector on or off with a Raspberry Pi running Falcon Player. Using CEC-Utils you can control the power status of your HDMI device, and also the volume and a few other features. This does require your HDMI device to be compatible with CEC standards, but most modern TVs and Projectors should work. Use WLED Effects Directly in Falcon Player V6.X or higher
Переглядів 6 тис.2 роки тому
WLED is a great piece of firmware for small ESP based controllers (like the D1 Wemos or ESP32 boards). One of the best features of WLED was the built in effects and color pallets to choose from. Now with Falcon Player, the WLED effect library is at your finger tips. Using FPP commands and Pixel Overlay models lets you push effects to your lights without needing a .eseq (effect file) or .fseq (s...
New Xlights Feature - Master FPP Controller & Xlights 2022.22

You can now add your master controller right into Xlights. This is a new feature in 2022.22, and should really help clear up some confusion and errors users would get when adding their master controller. I can't thank the Xlights and FPP Developers enough for the work they put in to making Holiday light shows easier for everyone.

Troubleshooting Display Configuration Issues with Xlights and Falcon Player

Testing your display is a critical step before you "go-live". It isn't if you have an issue, it is when you have an issue. Here are a couple steps I take to know if it is a configuration issue between Xlights and FPP or a physical issue with your controller, pixels, or extensions. Procedure does not seem te work here. I see both PC and Mini connected to the Hotspot. Starting the tool, however the Mini is not found. I downloaded the laterst firmware in the mini 3.7. Do you happen to know if sonnof blocks this function in the latest firmware?

Very nice. I was hoping that there might have been some info on integrating the dipole to the usb powered transmitters that just have a 75cm wire. To lower the dexterity level and get rid of the need for different pvc lengths you could put the pointy end of an 6" cable tie through the crimped on eye. Instead of bobbing for the eye just use the extra length of the previously installed 6" tie and just used the female end of another tie to cinch things down. Instead of having to vary the pvc length between about 28.5" and 26.5" a standard 29" could be used. The 6" cable tie allows for the 2" difference in dipole length to be allowed for.

Great tutorial. Thanks! Unfortunately, none of my projectors support CEC (I am assuming, since nothing but test appears when I scan for device). Anyone have a good tutorial on doing this using an IR blaster connected to the Pi?

What address do you use for the Sonoff Basic R2? I tried both 10.10.7.1 and 10.10.7.2 and neither one works. And you didn't explain why the hotspot needs to be that specific name and password. Shouldn't that not matter? For iPhone it's always iPhone.

Have another question what is running on the Pi that is sending the video to the screen, etc.. I have a Pi setup to run FPP and it has a top-hat that is a driver, I plan on using a 2nd Pi for the video because it will be little ways from this one. will 2 the 2nd Pi be running a native Pi OS or will it also have FPP on it and where will the video be loaded on the on the Pi that is being host FPP or on the one doing the video. Thanks again

Thanks for this video, it's the closest I have found to what I am trying to do. TVs used to have a "last state power on" feature. We have a security Monitor in a lobby that we want to power on when we flip the switch on for the lights so no one has to find the remote (yes, completely dummy proofing). I'm looking for a device (even if i have to do it myself) that will power on the tv with CEC commands since tvs don't have this feature anymore. Basically, if X in-line HDMI device receives power, send power on command, and vice versa. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

You don't use a 4 to 1 balun with a dipole unless it is a folded dipole. A dipole has an impedance of about 70 ohms. The balun is for antenna that has an impedance of around 300 ohms. By the it is Bal - Un, not Bay - un. It means balanced to unbalanced.

Shoutout to the Twin Cities. I just started my LightShow journey December '23. It's been fun. But the FM signal had struggled. My concern of building a too good signal is I literally live next to am Airport. My backyard has the Airport fence. But I'm getting too much static, so I will try building something like this much possibly smaller.

I made one tuned to 97.3 MHz using the same materials and method. With 500mw it was clear out to 1 mile and still detectable on my car radio at 1.5 miles. I only wanted it to reach my garage. It was fun for a moment but I limited the use of it to 3-5 hours on a weekend because I lived in a small town and didn't want to attract attention. I've moved since then and use Wi-Fi now when I'm outside.

I live in the south and PVC deteriorates quickly due to the UV and heat. Built my Dipole out of Electrical PVC conduit and it is UV resistant. Cutting your FM antenna to the frequency you are going to use prevents what is call Standing Wave Ratio. If you have a very efficient antenna where most all of the RF wave goes out and very little comes back, this prevents problems of damaging the transmitter. You are correct about the FCC. FCC goes after the pirate radio stations not the seasonal light show. If it does interfere with other stations, they will send you a cease and desist letter.

  • @HobbyBroadcaster
    @HobbyBroadcaster Рік тому

You do realize this antenna will likely make ANY Part 15 certified transmitter non-compliant with Part 15.239, which governs the allowed field intensity operating under the FCC regulations. While a user may escape the grasp of the FCC if they are indeed operating on a temporary basis for the duration of the holidays, all it takes is one complaint if your signal is interfering with a licensed broadcaster to have an FCC field inspector investigate and file a Notice of Unlicensed Operation (NOUO) against not only the operator for the documented property owner, thanks to the P.I.R.A.T.E Act of 2020. Due to this act FCC fines have increased upwards of $2 million dollars! My site has been assisting academic and hobby broadcasters harness the power of Part 15 compliant broadcasting for educational and hobby endeavors. You should at least place a disclaimer on your video as somebody who ignores the possibility could potentially find themselves in trouble with the FCC should they continue to operate in a non-compliant manner.
