Audi TT Mk1 Roadster Cubby Door Fix
Important Note: apparently there are supposed to be four (4) bolts behind the speaker grill that also need to be removed. Apparently, a previous owner took those out and never put them back in.
Great news for the thousands of Audi TT MK1 Roadster owners who have a cubby door that no longer latches. The parts needed to fix this are now readily available to us. In the video I mention Southco part #E4-10-201-10, sold on Amazon. While this one can be modified to work, the correct part is E4-10-202-10, which has the needed 3mm gap. This can be found on Southco's website: shop.southco.com/en_us/e4-10-202-10
For some reason, on Amazon I have only been able to find E4-10-201-10 and E4-10-203-10. The E4-10-201-10 can be modified to work. However, the E4-10-203-10 with its 5mm gap cannot.

Audi TT Roadster MK1 (2001) Seat Reupholstering
Переглядів 3,5 тис.2 роки тому
My 2001 Audi TT Roadster (MK1) badly needed new skins installed on the seats, and for the first time, UA-cam failed me when I tried to find someone who had done it before. I decided to go ahead with the project anyway, and try to figure out how to do it on my own. This is the result. I used new leather seat skins from Ridies.com, and I like the result. So, for anyone looking to redo their seats...
Amazing - totally getting this! Instead of getting charged $250 for a replacement used part.
I've tried numerous solutions for this they all fail when the heat within the car rises while parked in the sun. Eventually, the heat overcomes the adhesive on the double bakced tape, or the velcro strip and the door falls open. I have begun holding the door closed with my elbow, with the driver door orpen, and then locking the car with the key. The door stays shut until I unlock the car. My car is a convertable. Wondering if you or anyone on this channel have had this solution fail as I've decribed???
Ordered and installed this in a TT exclusively because of this video. Thanks porkchop.
Great write up. I’m retired so I have nothing but time and I believe no one will take better care of your car than yourself so I’m going to try this myself. I purchased the covers from the same place.
also you can replace the original hook by a 3D printed one like I did in my video : ua-cam.com/video/rsI8Js4YDyM/v-deo.html
I am having trouble getting the little rubber notches pushed into the holes on the back of the upper seat. Do you have any tips?
Brilliant! Mine is still intact, but went ahead and ordered one to keep in the cubby for when it inevitably breaks.
Thanks for posting this, man! I ordered it, installed it and it works great. Rick
How to order it and ship it to Italy? It seems impossible to have it in my country. Can you at least buy it for me and send it? I know it's a strange question but I have the same problem on my car and I don't know how to fix it
Can you order it from Amazon? a.co/d/2CuvYaP
Good morning I live in France . I can't buy the part.
Try this link for EU - France southco.com/fr_eu_int/e4-10-202-10
@@skuipho Thanks a lot. I emailed the company. I'm waiting for an answer 👍
I contacted the company in Europe but they do not sell to individuals. they will send it to me for free 👍👍👍 Thanks you Guy 💪
That’s outstanding!
@@mikaeldufrenois3226bonjour avez vous bien reçu votre pièce? Ça donne quoi? Malheureusement le lien nous amène a une autre piece
Just ordered it!! Thanks so much for finding this part and making this video!!
I have the TT mk2. I did reupholster the textile seats in my a3 2006 a few years back, and the workers broke my heating in the seats. I'm scared to pay someone for the TT so they don't break the heaters, any thoughts on this?
I think if you’re handy enough, doing it yourself you will have the focus on being careful around the seat heater so you can avoid breaking them.
@@skuipho Thank you
Thanks so much, just ordered the part 🎉
Wow great job. I don’t know if I have the patience
Wow I been looking for a video on this forever. Thank you so much. I can’t wait to get the part.
Awesome! Thank you for the part number. Just ordered it
Really appreciate this write up. Doing this job on my Wife's 2005 3.2 Roadster, glad I watched this first and the hog rings and metal rods were details I had no idea about. Always wondered hot to remove the headrest as well. Still feel confident about this, I'm just gonna budget a full weekend day per seat, not a quick hour swap like I thought it would be initially.
Please comment with how it goes for you!
Wow! I briefly thought about tackling this project. After watching, I'm for sure using a professional. Nice work!
I am no professional, just another guy who can use a wrench on occasion. I would give it a shot - (maybe make friends with a pro beforehand and bring them in if it gets to be too much!)
