Used to be a fan of just about everyone except the Stones and Ron Wood and all associated acts basically. Then I discovered this 'weaving' thing Keith and Ron do so well. It's very cool. Just constantly changing between rhythm and lead.

Rolling Stones are one of my favorites. Musically, there a very loose, bunch a guys, band. Where a lot of other bands have solos and rehearsed chord changes and tempos, the Stones have silence. Quote from KR " it's not what you play, sometimes it's what you dont play, the little silences. " . As musicians, they are good, but they'll never be in the category of musical greatness like Led Zep, Clapton, or Hendrix or the more technical intricate guitar solos. What makes the Stones so great are not so much what they pla but more of what they don't play. Richards is a one of the great rhythm guitarist of our time. Most bands follow the drummer, but in the this band ......everyone follows Keith. Keith is a very loose player. Spontaneity. You see this when they play live. They never play the same version of a particular song on any given night. They've never been interested in replicating the exact or dame sound of the original studio recording.that appears on the album. That's the first thing i noticed the first time i saw them play live. Always get a different version or variation of it. And so, in regards to sound, it changes everything. Then add to the equation the drummer is a jazz drummer. That's what makes them so great and so unique. Keith Quote " i tried to be a great technical guitaris like ur Clapton-s Jimmy Page's and Hendrix but i failed. Im a rhythm guitarist. I hold the beat done. Those guys cant do what I do. "

I hear ya Wolf. Basic boogie woogie that every guitar player knows. Play it in my sleep. Keith used to be my hero but watching and listening to him for the last 20 year's, it's bad. People still shell out the big bucks to go see him still though. He benefits from some great music he made !! Still love him
