Avid wildlife researcher for almost 40 years. Hobby photographer. My passions have been the re-introduction of Ospreys, Eagles and Falcons in the Mid-west, water quality monitoring, and the overall health of our ecosystem they depend on. Climate change and disaster response and rebuilding have also been first on that list. Along with wildlife rescue and rehab. All which I care deeply about.
(Pet loss )To Susan💓 In Loving Memory of Dixie
A tribute to Dixie, who was a wonderful member of the Crooked Lake Community. Memories will always remain dear to our hearts. Hugs. She was very much loved. Send Susan and her family some love, as she processes this , and loves all of nature on Crooked Lake.

Fly high and free my little loves. With sadness and a heavy heart I pass on the news that all 3 vibrant young were lost Sunday morning. Both adults are alright, and in and out of the nest, watching over their territory. This nest has had a nic...

Working on a few videos over the next few days to show the progress of the 3 nestlings, as they go through each stage, and change so quickly now. This is a light hearted spunky rendition of some of their on time development at 11, 10 and 8 days old. Fun to watch, as they go through each stage of growth. Active and healthy, and being fed very well. © Crooked Lake Ospreys/ Timothy Dygert 2024

One of my favorite Osprey nests I usually relax with watching some evenings, rewinding to see how their day went. A bad storm hit the area this afternoon, sadly taking all of the nest with it. I am so sorry for all who were watching there at the time and enjoying the 11 day old chicks growth. It is a tragedy that sometimes can happen with this weather some of us have been dealing with, and it j...

❤😢. Such a touching tribute …. I am not familiar with this song, but it was a perfect fit. Oh, how we all relate. Blessings to you Susan. Thank you angel Sunnie. What is the name of this song? Xoxoxoxox
Thanks, I knew you would relate to this. Susan and her dog were so much a part of Crooked Lake mornings, and it is a story well beyond that. Dixie lived a good life, and we were all so blessed by Susan and Dixies walks along the lake. Blessings to all. Dixie and her wildlife walks with Susan . Thanks for your comment. Susan will appreciate it. To know dogs is like no other bond we probably have. They truly are special.
She inherited the dog a sheltie mix after her sis died.
The photos were from Susan. As we shared are friendship. With dogs and her life on Crooked Lake
Just spent a few days at the lake and got to watch him or her dive into the water so cool.
Thanks, fun to watch them, I need to edit this, as now after closely doing more frame by frame, when we had time, we do not think Whitley returned this year, but Noble did. Enjoy, they are special. This actually is the new female who won out over the others. She is a good one. Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much. I worry Cobey cannot survive, she just a baby.
Hi, Sunnie❤...I wasn't aware of this nest🙃! I know you're super busy, and I read your comments here👍🏻....but, what happened to the parents to bring on this rescue? Thanks a lot, Sunnie❣
Hi LuvLivingAlways, It is complicated, but be reassured the monitoring group there are very committed, and following all nests closely in the area. This particular nest has a new male providing, new pair, so with that comes the usual, but there has been many other factors. Mom disappearing, young dad, weather, age, condition of the nestling. Trust them, wonderful organization. A site in my opinion, on the list of the best for helping with education going forward. Take care, nice to see you again.
@@sunnie057 Sunnie...thank you so much for your kind reply and sharing so much with me! It's wonderful to hear about such an awesome organization! I'm so grateful for this rescue🙏🏼 And, I'm grateful to you, Sunnie - always❤ Here's to our Osprey chicks all over the world...fly high and well, with good, long lives, dear ones☮🙏🏼😇❤
This makes me so happy! I hope cobey has a terrific life
He has a second chance thanks to being monitored well . It never is easy to make these decisions for these birds, so much thought goes into it. He is in the best hands to perk him back up. So glad you care, and witnessed this. Very educational site, and glad to see what they are doing over that way. To provide the educational aspect needed, monitoring, and long term dedication for a better tomorrow. Nothing worthwhile is ever an easy road to travel. Thank all the volunteers over there. Awesome people.
Fly baby bird fly! Congratulations
What an interesting view
I love it!
I love it!
Oh, I love the both parents are feeding! Great pic
Thanks @Alex. They are one of those neat pairs to be privileged to watch. Very bonded and mature. Wonderful fish supply, all one could ask for. We hope all goes well, but with Owls sharing the territory, we just keep our fingers crossed. Hope for the best and a fledge. Thanks as always.
I am so sorry! Such a great nest. Condolences sunnie
Thanks for your heartfelt kindness. Although this nest has never experienced Owl issues, things like weather often impact predation. Nests success is a day to day thing. Be thankful and blessed with each one you see fledge. Hope is alive and well, and although sometimes nature can be painful, it also gives us a breathe of fresh air, in a complicated world. Treasure those times of pure joy
It was just truly heartbreaking. It was the first time I saw it. And after watching several of your videos of crooked Lake, it just hit me. But what you said is true Chin up🙏
💓👍
That’s great! They’re playing together together
That was great! Thanks Sunnie
Nice video, Sunnie...a sweet welcoming to Noble's new mate...as hatch watch begins❤ And, may Whitley be fairing well whever her wings have taken her🙏🏼 *This music reminds me - that thanks to you - I found Tim Janis - thanks for that gift, too👍🏼
3 chicks! Will try to catch up on making a few videos. Thanks so much for watching.
@@sunnie057 👍🏼🙏🏼😇❤
Ahhhh, dear Sunnie...first of all, I want to tell you how sorry I am about this heartbreak - that affects you personally, being one of your fave nests. In fact, I only became aware of this nest, thanks to your postings. But, I am very familiar with your beautiful carry-on perseverance, that is much like the Raptors,' whom you so generously and lovingly serve each day. You are an amazing natural educator because you so kindly share so much - like this video - and, in so doing create great empathy that serves the Raptors, and all souls. Thank you. I know this wasn't an easy video to make, but you did a beautiful job conveying the bittersweetness of nesting life - which can be so inspiring to us all in so many ways. Raptors carry on, therefore, encouraging us to do the same! *Today at 10:49am & 11:38am on the nest clock, Dad was bringing in sticks to rebuild! I believe I saw Mom on the nest site grooming and calling this morning, too. Mom and Dad remind us to carry on in celebration of life, no matter how bittersweet. Thank you for your enormous loving heart, your generous educating soul, your dedication and work for Ospreys and all Wildlife...and for your encouragement and love🙏🏼 With much admiration... peace and blessings, Sunnie🕊🙏🏼😇❤
Weather sure can be nasty sometimes. It is inspirational how they go on, such strength. Thankful for the nests that are surviving all of this. Prayers for all affected around this beautiful country we so treasure. Blessings your way, enjoy every moment with nature.💓
@@sunnie057 Thanks you, Sunnie...yes...we must carry on with prayers, and in celebration of all lives lived...enjoying this nature for them❤
So sad! Couple days ago the wind blew a eagles nest completely out of the tree! The wind had gotten underneath it and flipped it right out of the tree with 3 eaglets in it. Thankfully they are ok and will be kept till they are old enough to be let go. Mom and Dad both had come back to the nest both with a fish and the confusion on their faces was heartbreaking. That wind flipped the nest out of the tree like it was nothing 😢 Im very sad to hear about the loss of the baby Ospreys 😢
Hugs to you, weather can be cruel sometimes and these nests although they have some weight, are so vulnerable to up drafts from incoming winds. We have lost several in my area, and it is a hard pill to swallow. But look at them, these birds, they shake it off, and go on. if only we could be this strong...It is inspirational. Bless you and your loving, caring heart, spread the faith. Be strong. Cherish each day and never look behind, always look forward and be thankful for another tomorrow...
@sunnie057 I know, I just hate it happens. No offense but I just couldn't watch the video, The title said it all and I had just watched the Eagles nest blow out of the tree. That was hard enough. I know everything you said is true and yes it is very hard but they do go on. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my comment.
@@lindaadelwerth8042 Many blessings your way. Thanks for your kindness and love of nature. Never stop enjoying the good times, share it, pass those good times on.
I wasn’t able to finish the video, already was crying too hard and my heart couldn’t watch any more. So sad for the little osprey family! I hope there is something that can be done in the future to prevent this from occurring. I would love to help if there was a place to send for donations? Thank you for taking the time to share this story, however sad it is.
Thanks @donna9753. I am not aware of any donation sites there locally, but maybe send one in to your local wildlife rescue. They have been swamped with rescues. Weather certainly is such a threat to all birds nesting , and this particular last several weeks has been tough on both birds and ground species, with young right now. . Their persevverance is to be admired, but like you said, our hearts hurt for their efforts, blown away in these storms. Stay possitive and support all helping them. Hugs.
You truly need a life. Good luck.
@@frankrolls6834 sounds like you need one more do than I do
@@frankrolls6834 Couldn't have said it or chirped it better myself, Frank.
This nest has been unlucky for the last 2 or even 3 years, if I’m not mistaken, and here again is a huge disaster for the parents, I’m very sorry 😞😢 I would like the stream owners to help the ospreys with strengthening the nest, so that such a tragedy does not happen again, I ask the author of the video to convey my words them🙏
Overall this nest has had success since in this park, but weather is a number one threat to all nesting species. With my own monitoring , you can have bad years, extended for seasons, and fabulous years as well. It is a roll of dice, with the weather. Nests with some type of exterior supports, like logs, 1x2's do offer some help with wind. Wind can get underneath these nests and totally lift them off, as the bottoms are left with wire of all sorts for drainage. With that said, I have also seen entire poles completely snapped by winds and tornados. Nests blown and lifted out even with additional supports. (In person.) Ospreys nest in areas with a clear open view. Road signs, utility poles, and lights, snags, cell towers, cliffs, bouys, the ground, rooftops, etc.. It was very unfortunate, but they are not alone, many nests have been lost. I feel your heartache, as I too felt a sadness, and helplessness. We watch them, admire them, do all we can do to be good stewards, and raise and inspire hope for all who follow our footsteps, for their future success, for many years to come... Hugs...
Very sad, has anyone contacted a rehabilitation center?
Yes, all were informed of what happened, but I know from real time live nest monitoring experiences, an 11 day old chick cannot survive a fall. Both parents are alright, but a bit confused. Just a terrible tragedy, many nests have been lost with weather this last week. Thanks so much for caring.
@@sunnie057 , Thank you very much for your reply and update, I'm glad to hear that the rehabilitation centers have been contacted about this. I was in the process to contact them from Belgium. Sorry for the loss of this little one, it's heartbreaking!
@@celianaturegirl2883 Unfortunately a chick that young cannot survive a storm like that, we have lost some here too. Take care, blessings your way.

I am watching this nest from Turkey. It is not a common bird species in Turkey. I was very interested because I heard about it for the first time. I have been watching it every day since the first egg hatched, but I need to read a lot and research a lot to understand the developments in the nest. Thank you very much for the comments you wrote and the information you provided in the chat yesterday (14.April.2024). Greetings and love from Turkey. (Written with the help of a translator)
