Great stuff, better luck than not .lol great video, cheers for sharing 🎉
Thanks Jon!
No way are rainbow trout lathargic in winter it’s when rainbow trout are at there best you’ve been reading wrong books mate .
Hi David - I totally agree for fish that have been in the water a while but in my experience fresh stockies are either lazy buggers or full of energy in the low temperatures, thats why i love a bung setup and a pulling rod for my winter trips. Some of the best pulling days I have had have been in minus temperatures.
A used to fish millhall when a stayed through falkirk great wee fly fishery gonna take a trip back through one day 🎣
Definitely worth a trip - brilliant loch!
brilliant video pal great when the bung gets hit the feeling is brilliant
Thanks William! You’re right Its so much fun
Used to fish bowden springs about 25years ago is it fly only now?
They have 1 fly only loch and one for both fly and bait - beautiful setting!
Hi Mate, great video. I'm heading up that way in April with my son, we're gonna give Kailzie a visit. We're staying at Thirlestane Castle near Lauder in the Borders. Any other recommendations for some great fisheries in the area? Thanks..... Mario
Thanks Mario for the comment! Kailzie is definitely a brilliant spot for some great fishing with your son, I'm not too familiar with many other places near by - the only other place i have fished was Alton Loch which was good but that was many years ago, but enjoy your trip and tightlines!
You could try The Watch fishery near Duns, Rosslynlee near Penicuik or Newlands Tweeddale outside Gifford.
I have multiple things I’d call that, but I’ll leave that to the imagination. Some nice fish nonetheless👍
I called it with the shout out aha!
Hahaha, not like you that!
Excellent video pal....im the same some times.....they don't call me jammy jones for nothing 😉
Thanks Mark! better lucky than good!
I love fishing the bung , when I started fly fishing it wasn't a thing .but now it's another deadly method for slow days .the bung has saved a blank ,many times now .great video, my friend. The bung is the future .well in its a sub n thumbs fron me
@JonFisher-ql6xe well said Jon! Glad you liked it and tight lines!
Great video, Can you tie the bloodworms in another video?
Definitely can!
never tried bowden springs yet but it’s on the list for sure… but isn’t it 8lb leader minimum there?
@@seanguild6528 it’s in such a nice setting, and plenty of fly life! I did chat to fishery manger whilst there but he didn’t mention the leader - would definitely be worth checking. Possible they put a minimum in for the bait guys but never heard of it on the fly.
You're fishing daft going out in that! defos tying up some of these apps tho
@@TradeWisely_BB thank you aha! Eat, sleep, fly-fish
Drumtassie is a nice fishery. My daughter lives in Falkirk, when I fished it, it was a very cold day and all fish were caught under the bung. Drumtassie was recommended to me by the lovely couple that run the shop called “My Fishing Flies” in Grangemouth. Lovely couple, very helpful. Swanswater near Stirling have Blues and Golds. Great video. 👍
Thank you Mark! the guys at my fishing flies are amazing!
Ive also been to burnhowse i got 1 😊
Also love the vids
Hi vice flies/callum its me the ten year old boy from drumtassie that you met i liked and subscribed and pls post that video of you and me 😂😂😂
Hey! Thanks for commenting it’s great hear you’re enjoying the videos! That video will be up soon, putting together a drumtassie special.
Great video be fishing a match on the 26th of January will be my first cast of 2025 🐟🎣
Thanks Lawrence! And tight lines!
Just wondering mate what brand and type bungs do you use
They are cheap as chips Amazon pear drop bungs, I will link it in the video Im editing at the moment and show how I tie them on since they are mince unless you wrap the nylon round it once before popping the stopper in. They are really sensitive tho
@ thanks mate
Which net are you using please
That net was actually provided by the fishery so I’m not sure the brand, but net I usually use is a 21inch greys rubber mesh which is excellent
Brian bringing u cups of tea, need to be having a word😂

Very scenic day to be out Cal! Lovely fishery
@@thijsgravemaker4766 Nippy hands! But well worth it ❤️
before i got into salmon fishing i used to fish the indicator on loch insh in aberdeenshire, i fished a fly my pal came up with and he named it the insizor because it looked like a tooth! tied on a size 10 wet fly hook tie in mini white fritz at the eye and wrap it down to just on the bend of the hook, thats it, simple, we fished it static in a flat calm but if a breeze got up they would ignore it, on a poor day we would get 20 each but my best was 66, it fishes best in a dull drizzly day in an absolute flat calm, leave it static and you wont believe the takes it gets, give it a try and hopefully you'll do a video on it, we used to piss a lot of jealous guys off when we were getting fish after fish, you would constantly hear a grumpy voice saying from across the far bank "theres that c*nt in again" 😂😂 good luck with it, we found it best in clear lochs but it was'nt nearly as good in peaty stained water 👍🏼
Aha! That’s great to hear John, I have heard loads of good things about Insh so I will definitely head up to try it out, that fly sounds like a killer too! Cheers!
Cracking video mate, glad you had a good day. Anyone watching this get along to Burnhouse if you’ve not been yet, you’ll love it 🎣🎣

Interesting variants of hares ears and blobs... and yet we know they'll catch loads of fish!!!
Cracking wee fishery, i go there often as its right on my doorstep. Alot of big fish in there.
It’s such a fantastic setting!
was up orchil same day (day after boxing day) and got a 6pound rainbow on an olive apps 👍🏻
@@seanguild6528 well in Sean! Orchill is a brilliant water
It’s a brilliant rod, easy casting, very powerful and overall a beautiful rod. This is the 10’ 7wt which covers everything from dries to heavy sinking lines.
Hey Calum, how do you like that Recon? What length and wt? I'm considering acquiring a 10' 7wt for stillwaters. Thanks!

Fished Bangour quite a few times but since watching your video I’m going to give Drumtassie a visit for sure. Bangour does close for a few months during winter & summer which is a bit odd. Tight lines. Derick.
Great to hear Derick, it’s a brilliant water. I haven’t fished bangour in years, how is it now?
Hi. It fishes well when it’s open, well stocked & great facilities. I don’t have Facebook so it’s difficult to see prices. I usually fish 4 or 6 hours on a catch & kill ticket so I guess I’ll give them a call to find out. Once again great videos & I’ll look out for your next fishing trip. Tight lines. Derick.
I fish Drumtassie a couple of times a week. You won't be disappointed.
Float fishing
@@ewenwalker7740 strike indicators are a type of float yeah! I love the visual aspect of them during winter when all of the top of the water sport is gone
