A little late watching this but… It’s an older book but give Moloka’i by Alan Brennert a try. It’s about a 7 year old who’s taken from her family and sent to live in the leper colony on Moloka’i. The book follows her life there. And if you like it as much as I did, there’s a sequel

LOL I'm in Australia and at the moment we are having a little bit of a heatwave. Not totally unusual, but we have not really had many hot days until now, which is unusual. The temp is anywhere from 35-40 degrees Celsius. Enjoy what will be fabulous weather.
