Is Nello light or heavy? Because I have cats and he seems like he is the same size as my cats but idk.

I rescue old IG's ... usually starting around 11 yrs. I'm on #6 & #7. 3 males, 4 females ... 1 or 2 at a time. I'm male and all three males cuddled me, but two weren't keen on my son. The females definitely lick my face more and were open to my son. They've all slept with me on the bed. My first rescue, male, dug under my blankets and corkscrewed into my stomach the first night. That's what made me pick IG's after that. I had a pair of littermates and the female did the stomach thing, and the male put his head on my pillow ... back against my chest. All the others were/are still under the covers but keep a little distance. During the day, they all shared/share a couch with me ... follow me around, insist on bathroom access when I use it ... typical IG stuff. I live in a place with bitter cold and night predators so they're trained to use pads inside the house. Even though she's right about peeing on chest or front legs for males, I still have to paper the walls and make sure there's no gap between the wall and the floor. There used to be a place on the WWW that made custom fit 4-legged coats for IGs (bratzwear I think). I had her add pads to the backs of the front legs to cut down the urine problem (he missed his chest) and I could just wipe down the pads ... for a while The chest thing is the main problem with male clothes: they're just not cut right for IG's .

I feel like you've been lucky with potty training. They have the reputation they do for a reason

You are spot on correct 👍 you can not leave an Iggy home alone for too long! They are super sensitive dogs…and yes they are more like children. Thank you for your time and energy trying to help and educate those that have never owned one of these special animals ❤

I had a female Italian Greyhound for 17 years and she was not clingy at all. She could be aloof as she got older but liked everyone. They can be tricky to house train though. Great dogs.

Hoe many months did it take for Nello to get fully potty trained? I've just aquired a 7-month female & she is already used to peeing on pads inside from the previous owner. I think I'm in for a long road!!

How can she let it out off leash by a street. These dogs are fast and have prey drive. They will take off in the blink of an eye. Mine lived to be 19.

They are a hard breed to housetrain so that's going to be a big problem if you aren't around in those early months
