Electric Motorcycle Bicycle Record Fast Hill Climb, Full Ride!
Переглядів 507Рік тому
After making improvements to motor cooling, I tested my experimental/research and development, electric motorcycle bicycle by riding up the mountain to see if I can go faster than before. I built this bike with a Jones LWB HD/e, 4130 Chromoly steel hardtail frame, and a Jones titanium Truss rigid fork. I added 12v LED headlights, tail lights, brake lights, license plate lights, turn signals, a ...

This is my first ride on the freeway with my experimental/research and development, electric motorcycle bicycle! Do not attempt. I am sharing this bike ride video for your entertainment and for learning but I am not recommending you do this. Bicycling and motorcycling can be dangerous or deadly. I built this bike with a Jones LWB HD/e, 4130 Chromoly steel hardtail frame, and a Jones titanium Tr...
Riding my Jones LWB E-Bike in a 5-day gravel stage race
Переглядів 5 тис.Рік тому
The 2021 Oregon Trail Gravel Grinder was a 5-day gravel bike stage race near Bend Oregon. It covered 326 miles, climbed 28,000 ft, and had around 20 hours of riding. All during a record heat wave. When I found out that this ride had an e-bike category, I thought it would be a good test for my bike and a fun ride! It turned out that I was the only one who entered the e-bike category. This was an...
Large tires on Jones ebike in slow motion rolling over big sticks

The big 29" tires on wide rims on the Jones HD/e ebike can run low pressure making the tire very supple while still being stable side to side. They absorb small vibrations and big bumps very well giving a smooth ride with excellent traction and control. JONES MOTORBIKES - Snow Chains and Tire Studs on an Electric Bike, Traction Testing.
Переглядів 6 тис.4 роки тому
This winter when I was riding my experimental Jones Plus HD/e high power electric bike up in the mountains, on truck roads and motorcycle trails, I often had trouble finding enough traction when there was deep snow, ice and muck on the ground. After adding Grip Studs to the tires I found that they were great on the ice but they did help that much in deep snow. Then I made custom tire chains fro...

Ebike Slide, electric bike drifting

Flying down this mountain road, I got a bit sideways while making some room for another vehicle. I moved right a little into wetter dirt and the bike went into a slide. I shifted my weight forward and kept the front straight while the back end swung out and them came back. The bike saved it more than me. Having the super low and centered weight of the motor and big battery on this bike, along w...
Testing electric bikes the snow. Ebike crashing!

Here we are testing and crashing a couple of motorized Jones Bikes in the snow. This day we rode 22 miles with 4300 ft of climbing, on paved and dirt roads. The snow and ice covered sections in the shade were very slippery as you can see. Warning: Modifying bicycles and adding motors can adversely affect warranty coverage & compliance with required safety & other standards. It can also be a fun...

    Hey Jeff and Co- Are there alternate wheel sizes this frame can accommodate? 650, 650+, 29er, etc. Also, is flexibility as far as hub spacing goes? Could a slightly smaller width hub be used with the rear or front fork?

    8:00 to my knowledge Bosch pledges to support its electric drive systems for a minimum of of 7 years(which is more then most competitors) 11:00 the EU e bike limit of 250W is calculated in a way that the motors have maximum outputs in excess of 500 to 800W (some even more) it’s more of an continuous power output

    You know why I respect Jeff and his bikes ? becuase he respects the consumer’s intelligence and our desire for knowledge behind marketing. Jeff is humble, not afraid to experiment and talk about why he changed his design instead of just saying why his is the best. I am the happy owner of LWB HDE. Thanks for being real Jeff and explaining your thought process and engineering to us instead of just marketing bs like the rest of the industry. Jones bike design philosophy respects what a bike IS while pushing the envelop. Right on.

      Amen. I loved this video and the way you talked us through your process. I bought my bike in June. I had initially planned to get the LWB HDE but ended up purchasing it as an e-bike w the HD motor. I couldn’t be happier. I’m back to riding again without hand numbness and back pain. I love how this is a bike first and also an e-bike; I’m able to ride comfortably without assistance when I want to even to the point where I’ll pull the battery off and just ride when I’m on flat roads close to home. Thanks for the great bike and the great video.

    The BBS02 has a very nice cadence sensor. The Bosch CX made around 70 nm of torque. The Gen 4 makes 85 nm, it blows the BBS02 away on every climb.

    • @JonesMotorbikes
      @JonesMotorbikes 8 місяців тому

      The Bafang BBS02 has 100Nm of torque and the BBSHD has 160Nm.

    • @stratostear
      @stratostear 8 місяців тому

      @@JonesMotorbikes I've ridden both and the difference is night and day. Bafang is either lying about their torque or measuring it in a non standard way with extremely low gearing. All their M series motors have grossly exaggerated torque specs and get blown away in test shoot outs against Bosch, Brose and Shimano.

      @JonesMotorbikes 8 місяців тому

      They are they are the standard Bafang cranks. We have not had any problem with them, or heard of any failures under load. But if you let the crank arm bolt get loose it can cause damage to the crank arm.

    • @smith717
      @smith717 8 місяців тому

      @@JonesMotorbikes Thanks. I replaced my standard Bafang cranks with Lekkie self extraction cranks and tightened to the recommended 50nM. I was having issues keeping the standard cranks tight and was afraid it might wear the Bafang drive axle. The Lekkie Cranks also correct for the Q factor … but the Q factor really wasn’t noticeable to me.
