Rare Caro-Kann Gambit Tricks International Master: 15 Move Resignation
This forgotten Caro-Kann Gambit was played in the World Championship match by Mikhail Tal, against Botvinnik. A fun line at its worst, and a great line at its best.
Each Friday I will be reviewing games that subscribers send in. If you want your game analyzed, email me at balkangambit@gmail.com
Leave any suggestions for improvements in the comments!
Also, open to any clever suggestions of a series name for this moving forward.

Finding the Best Bishop Routes in Chess: Positional Mastery
Переглядів 9621 годину тому
Positional chess isn't always viewed as fun as tactical chess, but tactics stem from good positional play. Anticipating your opponent's ideas can often lead to a winning position sooner rather than later. Here is a five-puzzle problem set putting bishop mastery and regrouping on full display. When you think of a chess magician, a knight most likely comes to mind. In this video however, we make ...

    Your channel is all of a sudden my absolute favorite chess channel. I'll tell you why: You have your own style, and you don't seem to be trying to make your content palatable to the audience with unnecessary puns or clowning. You have your own witty sense of humor which comes out naturally - so it is highly entertaining to watch too. But you really can tell you love chess and thinking about chess - these detailed explanations are really among the best stuff I have ever seen. Great job and thank you for putting the time and effort into creating this content!

      An opening change maybe some fun gambits or such? A complete week off from the game is sometimes super healthy as well. And maybe finding a players style you enjoy to review their games. I know if I ever focus on a number it stuns the motivation but delving into complications or oddities of certain positions keeps it fun. Dunno if any of that was constructive but I hope you rekindle the spark

    Now, I'm going to REWATCH this and pause each one and see if I can even remember the tips you gave. I think repetition is what I haven't done at all. I haven't tried to learn a trick or tactic and then do it like 10 times in a row. I guess cuz I'm not signed up on any chess site where I can set up the board and replay a position. I suppose there's free chess engines you can even just download that'll do that.

    • @BalkanDadChess
      @BalkanDadChess День тому

      Ahh so this answered my prior question, why no chesscom or lichess? At least a puzzle app is surely needed to get onboarded

  • @TruthSurge
    @TruthSurge 2 дні тому

    FIRST? I'm 0 for 5! hehehhe If I start a game off with e4 I think it's a brilliancy. :) Ok, I'm not THAT bad at chess. Just not great. Thanks for the examples! I would have to think a LOOOOOOOONG time to come up with some of those moves. I always want to capture instead of looking for better moves. I'm always scared if I don't take, they'll take and suddenly I'm down material and I will just lose. I'm always amazed when players do an opening and don't capture a pawn in the middle I am always frightened of that part of the game. Speaking of frightened.... Black Sabbath is doing ANOTHER "final" concert to try and make $ for Sharon. They'll never quit until Ozzy is dead. Even then they might hire a double and do ANOTHER 'final' concert.

    • @BalkanDadChess

      Do you play on chesscom? And yes these are maybe too difficult, but the difficulty is what makes the bishops routes so respectable to me. I think each puzzle should be though about for 7-10 minutes if taken like an exam and whatever you get from there you roll with it.

    Sir, have do i get my puzzles rating up on lichess? Stuck on 2200 for so long

    • @BalkanDadChess
      @BalkanDadChess 2 дні тому

      Do you go one move at a time or try to see it the whole way through prior to your attempt? I would say the best thing for puzzles is to not make a move unless you solve it the whole way through. Even if it drops to 2000 your calculation strength will be improving so at a faster rate you may go down 200 but will go up 400 points and avoid a plateau

    Imagine where our techMology would be if Fischer became a scientist instead of chess master. His mind was not hampered by inbreeding or drugs and alcohol or DEI. Man, to have such an unfettered mind where you could just think mostly about one thing and then become the best.... must be a great feeling for him to become world champ. Probably like Michael Jordan's first championship or anyone else's. But they didn't have "jobs" at McDonald's. They didn't have a dozen other activities watering down their ONE THING they did all day. Steve Vai. 14 hrs a day playing guitar. That's all he does since he was 14. How many hours a day do you think Faustino Oro plays? BUNCHES. EVERY DAY. SINCE HE WAS 6. Right now, there's some baby out there in China at age 3 months pushing chess pieces across a board. In 10 more years we'll have SGMs with 3500 rankings. Sorry, I commandeered and hijacked the comment section. :) Nice camera action, BDC. Nice commentary, also.

      @BalkanDadChess 4 дні тому

      No a nice comment truly, I’m glad Fischer did what he did for chess. I can’t imagine Fischer with a chess engineer and his work ethic.. a sober mind is a beautiful thing, too bad society pushes for the opposite nowadays, but it makes having one in modern times even more respectable

    this is coming from a currently rated 414 elo player, don't ask how i lost all my points, i feel like the only way to win against 7:29 is to line up a triple barrage against your own king by putting your blacks queen on d8, assuming white follows through with the rook attack in my mind, sure, you're gonna lose your most powerful piece, but it's the only way you don't lose by back rank

    • @omeiga
      @omeiga 7 днів тому

      no cause even that loses, because white qxc8, obviously you recapture as black, but and then that still leads to back rank, wow, that's genuinely crushing it's either you just bully black or hang mate against your opponent, continuing the game, all whilst up a queen
