Having a foundation of trust is absolutely essential for a successful relationship. But sometimes it can be hard to trust. If you have difficulty trusting people, and you’re not sure why, watch this video about the science of why we lack trust:

    We’ve been married for 17 years and had very few problems in our marriage. Sure, we’ve been tested, but it only has deepened our commitment. Then I got sick, and for two years my husband became the only provider, caregiver, and sole domestic engineer. So when I recently recovered, we started running into problems that were difficult to identify, and we became frustrated. Then a friend recommended a relationship therapy, (a marriage counselor). I’m so glad we opted to seek out early intervention. The discoveries have been so helpful and are some were surprising. I’m back and we’re better than ever!

    It can be good to cross communication and conversational boundaries. Some people make their boundaries too much. If someone is on a mental health break but you know the perfect way to make them happy, then cross their communication boundary. It will only be longer if you let them recover on their own. You have a choice to make them happy faster. They could be uncomfortable at first, but at the end, they’ll be extremely happy and they could thank you. And there would be a longer period of happiness in their life. If someone feels sad, do what would be fast to make them happy. However, there are types of boundaries that are reasonable. If someone has a strong reason for their boundary, then their boundary was right for them to set.

    I don't think the romantic type of love is special. And I am started to think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other, while most platonic best friends remain friends until death. I think that having a platonic best friend is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse is. Having someone who's like a sibling to you is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse. Also, you are more likely to be much more closer to someone who's like a brother or sister to you than you would be with a romantic partner or spouse. People tend to fight with their partner or spouse a lot more than they do with a platonic best friend, and you never fight with your best friend the way you fight with your partner or spouse. Partners and spouses are just temporary. If you break up or divorce them, it's hard to go back to them. With your platonic best friend, you're going to make things work, because they are your best friend, they are your go to partner. It's always easier to make amends with them than it is with a romantic partner or spouse. Romantic relationships are pointless, while platonic relationships are not.

    • @all_connected
      @all_connected 6 місяців тому

      We are, obviously, big believers that therapy is an important tool in your "how to overcome trauma" toolbox. This entire series is meant to serve as a simplified guide to intergenerational and generational trauma recovery, and the knowledge shared builds upon itself from episode to episode--so be sure to start at Season 1, Episode 1 if you want to get the most benefit from this series! Not everyone has the means or time or current desire to see a therapist, and that's okay. (Though we hope you'll keep an open mind about the benefit of having a trauma-informed therapist help you on your recovery journey!)This series aims to break down the barriers of cost and time and make trauma-informed therapeutic tips as accessible as possible. You'll find lots of great tips throughout the series on healthy ways to deal with trauma!
