Hello, I was homeless in Glenwood springs for about a year and a half, I've had the same full time job for 7 years and I've never had any substance abuse issues in my whole life. However, I was in the homeless community and I was the only one that wasn't on drugs or an alcoholic and I was the only one working full time. It's true that the people there chose to be homeless because of 2 main reasons, they absolutely cannot follow rules no matter what, they hate rules. So whenever they get help or get housed it will always fail because it's impossible for them to follow the rules and control their behavior which is also why they can't keep a job. They get banned from all the shelters and all the hotels and the hostel, because they're incapable of respecting rules. The 2nd reason is because nothing in the world is more important than whatever their drug of choice is. They'll do anything and I mean anything to get it. For them it's better to be homeless and suffer than to go through withdrawal and get off drugs. There basically is no real solution for homelessness because they're going to destroy any place you put them in, money makes it worse not better and if they have to be clean to stay somewhere they'll choose the street every time.

I know firsthand these compounds are not "safe." Residents are not seeking assistance and the operator Colorado Village Collaborative is not offering "services." Crime is normal within these compounds. There is no oversight, accountability, or guardrails. These sites offer a haven and protection for its residents to nurture and commit their crimes. Denver City Council approves the zoning for these shelters knowing the damage residents in these compounds cause to communities and neighbourhoods. Most of these compounds are within feet of schools as well. This adds to the concerns of neighbours as some of those residing in these shelters are involved in child pornography and human trafficking.

I don't know how long I have to say what I have to say here. I've been a minister with many churches around 30 years. I am 70 years old I am transgender I transition from male to female have had gender reassignment surgery. What that means is that people in most situations at least in this country of ours had the ability to make the choice before they get pregnant. There are many ways of protecting against pregnancy Safeways that are there safe ways that they can enjoy one another's company and also be assured that they are not going to get pregnant because of one time when they did not want to do so. Wearing a condom is as effective if done right as are many video other forms of protection when I think about ethics I go back to a couple of things that our ethics professor said in seminary is that it is never a Clear black-and-white Choice. What it is is taking the issues and dealing with all of the issues surrounding what you do with a pregnancy.

I've lived here at purple cliffs in durango since they opened it i have seen it change i have not once been reached put to for any kind of help i have a social security disability income in a town thats to n expensive for my income. The resources have seemed to be gone or never opened since co vid I grew up in Durango and lm feeling hopeless and still very homeless in durango. Durango needs to reach out to its homeless with manna not open what services are available anymore? I
