MotorHOME Buying Tips - Part 2
(Buying a motorhome is a bit different than other vehicle purchases we make. When buying a motorhome, it has both a 'motor' and a 'home' part as the name implies. It's important to pay attention to both elements when buying a used motorhome. In this two part video series, I offer some motorhome advice which will hopefully help you with your motorhome selection. In this video I'll go over some of the aspects that pertain to the interior of the motorhome or 'home' portion. Don't sweat the small stuff. Care about the big systems that I go over in this video. In part one I went over the 'MOTOR' portion and what you should pay attention to when buying a used motorhome.
My motorhome is a R-Vision Trail-Lite (29') and I've had a lot of fun with it. On this channel I highlight some of the aspects of this motorhome and provide some advice and guidance on maintenance, upgrades and other things that come along with motorhome living.

Rv City Water Inlet Replacement - No More Leaks!
Переглядів 17 тис.3 роки тому
Is your RV city water inlet replacement overdue? If you have an RV water inlet leaking, it's likely time to tackle this repair. My city water inlet was dripping for some time which is an indication that the RV water inlet RV check valve is not in good shape. Having a bad RV city water connection on your rig not only wastes water but also limits the amount of time you can boon-dock in the wild. ...
RV TPMS - $19! Will it Work?

I wanted an RV TPMS since I recently splashed out for new motorhome tires. What I didn't want to do is spend hundreds of $s on one if I didn't need to. I found an RV TPMS on Banggood for $19 shipped straight from China. In this video I cover the RV TPMS installation and do a quick review of the RV TPMS monitor. You never want to have an RV tire blowout and an RV tire pressure monitoring system ...

Motorhome Surround Sound System - Upgrade to Apple TV

The motorhome surround sound system in my 'new' rig was a bit dated. The RV surround sound DVD player needed an upgrade. Since the newer Apple TVs don't have an optical out I was forced to deal with only an HDMI out. The solution was to set ...
RV Lithium Battery Conversion vs. Keeping a Lead Acid Battery

An RV lithium battery conversion is what this video is all about. The RV house batteries that are currently installed is a lonely small lead acid battery. Motorhome Backup Camera Installation - Wireless Upgrade!

    Thank you for this video! I will need to replace my marker lights at some point in the near future and this gives me the confidence to do it myself! A few questions: Did you go back and seal around the outside base of the light fixture and screw holes with decor later after filming? Did you have any problems locating studs in the ceiling for the screws to bite into?

    • @tinyindustrial-rvedition2368
      @tinyindustrial-rvedition2368 2 роки тому

      Oh good. I'm glad that was helpful. I did not add any seal in addition to what you see me do in the video. The foam bottoms on these lights gave me a lot of confidence that they would seal if I screwed them down sufficiently. Just like the original lights, there are just mounted into the fiberglass (no studs). That said the fiberglass dome I have up front is pretty thick and the screws grabbed fine. Also the new lights have a bigger footprint than the original lights and there for the holes for those original lights wound up being covered by these new lights. They've been on for a year and there has been no water leakage or internal fogging. They also still work fine. Happy with this upgrade. Way better and way brighter than the originals. Hope that helps! Be careful on the roof of the RV...it's a far way up. Safety first. :)

    Everyone should be warned... If you don't depressurize your water lines.... You will have water pouring out of that line.. which will get pulled INSIDE because the part being removed is the only thing holding that outside. So, the line will be INSIDE ..SPRAYING WATER. You MUST, shut off your water pump if you were using that. Then, open the lines inside till they stop running water and the pressure is relieved. Then go ahead and remove this. My neighbor was kind enough to repair a drip from my city intake while I was gone for 2 weeks. I guess he somehow broke the check valve. When I returned, I couldn't get water using the city intake, so I began filling my tank daily and using that until I was able to get the new part. The first thing I did was check this valve. AS SOON AS I MADE THE LAST TURN ON THE THREADED CONNECTOR.... IT GOT PULLED INSIDE & WATER BEGAN POURING OUT OF IT!!! I RAN INSIDE SHUT OFF MY PUMP!! BUT WATER CONTINUED POURING OUT!! Till I opened all of the inside lines! What a disaster!! Easily 5 gallons inside my RV! Always stop and think things thru when working with plumbing AND ELECTRIC!

    • @tinyindustrial-rvedition2368
      @tinyindustrial-rvedition2368 Рік тому

      Definitely. You want to depressurize and make sure that the pump is off. As you said though, even with that you can wind up with some water in the RV. My repair went pretty smoothly and I did not encounter any really dramatic issues.

      The couch is not currently mounted. I did put some 90 degree brackets in front of the rear legs of the couch that prevent it from sliding into the center of the RV. Something pretty dramatic would need to occur for it to dislodge from where it sits currently. May seek to strap it down in some fashion and or drill into the rear legs from the brackets I referenced. Not too concerned. Thanks for the question though. Sorry I didn't make that clear in the video.

      @@tinyindustrial-rvedition2368 No, I do not have an rv. My husband is not into it. I have land on a river in West Virginia. In the Spring I have plans of getting a storage shed put there, maybe 12X36. I plan to put a bathroom (incineret toilet like in your videos) and a kitchen area. If I get a gabriel roof style I will put lofts there for extra sleeping. I currently take tents there. We are going next week. Tents are fun as long as there are no storms. There is a cabin on the property that has septic, but I don't want to mess with that. The well is in the area of my potential shed build. The county/state allows grey water distribution as long as it's buried in a trench. From their diagrams it looks like the french drain I put in my yard to divert water, so I think it will be easily accomplished. I am wondering about electricity for the shed, since the toilet requires a dedicated 30amp circuit. My neighbor is a retired electrician. I will probably ask him for details, but I am thinking 50 amp box would be sufficient for the entire building's lights, refrigerator and cook stove, maybe a hot water heater, not sure on that. Lithium iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries are a great option to replace worn out lead-acid coach or house batteries, in an RV. I do have one question and one observation. Why didn't you take the battery out of the case and mount it exactly like the one you took out? It's already in its own sealed case, so the second case is redundant and precludes you from adding more capacity with the 2nd tray that is built into your RV. The observation concerns LFP battery chemistry and freezing conditions. That inexpensive Miady brand battery has been disassembled and found to lack cold temperature charging protection. If you leave that out in below-freezing temps, the BMS in that battery will not protect it from being charged and it will very likely be ruined. The cheap LFP batteries have over-temp protection, but not under-temp. I hope yours made it through the winter.

    • @tinyindustrial-rvedition2368
      @tinyindustrial-rvedition2368 2 роки тому

      Hmm. Good question. I would have to check, but I feel that the battery was a bit bigger than the tray would allow. That along with mounting it sideways made me want to get the box for it to reside in. Quite frankly the box also makes it a lot harder to steal since it's super wedged in there. :) Did you upgrade to this kind of battery as well? Do you have an RV?

    • @tinyindustrial-rvedition2368
      @tinyindustrial-rvedition2368 2 роки тому

      If the issue appears to be with the inlet itself, then replace that. If it might be the hose that connects to the back (inside) of the inlet then that would be your issue. You would need to figure out where exactly the water is escaping. Could be a hairline crack on the inlet or like I said, more of a hose leak issue. Let me know how it works/worked out!
