I say king only as that is according to the Saxon Chronicles widley contested A history is as follows below Saxon cathedral: In 705, the Saxon scholar Aldhelm established a cathedral and became the first bishop of Western Wessex. A dreadful extension of awful Basingstoke.
The rolls the ball under
So is a ruck, a thing where a person is tackle on the ground then the person covers him
@@WaniLokiden No a ruck is tackled to the ground and securing the ball and it's a competition between who is quicker you if you loose that race you can look to clear them of the ball or defend from a kick downfield or a pass to another player
Has it ever stopped? What time is it? How accurate is it? Was it changed with the julien to gregarion calendar? Does it do months and years.
@@Garth-e3b I'm not fully sure on those answers. It rings at the hours and quarters.
What a rubbish video, not one shot of Trowbridge's many grade one and tow listed buildings or the outstanding medieval parish church. The Shires is probably one of the most attractive shopping malls in the country and is fully occupied. and the interesting art deco garage is being restored. If you are going to make a video do some research.

It was the style of road building the Romans brought.. Straight, curved surface and drainage.. Celts had a different style of road.. Less permanent..
@@The_Chibs Also Norman's and medevil curved roads. Romans brought straight roads as curved was harder to build unless they had to avoid a landmass like a big hill
Like today's roads then. 😂
What did the Romans ever do for us..?...... 😂
@@MrChrisBarker Quite a lot of stuff they brought to us involving engineering
@@theexplorechanneluk7934 you haven't seen Monty pythons The life of brian..? It's a quote from a scene.. 🤣

@@Charlie3vans honestly, gutted... How many chances do you get to ask that question.. 🤷
@@MrChrisBarkerNo I haven't, to some that might be criminal, although I have been told too watch it.
I agree the Roman's didnt bring roads to Great Britain they just brought the straight ones. lol
@@Dagrdottir They did bring a lot of engineering one might ask why it took 1,800 years to build Canels and railways. Also the Romans took some ideas from the Carthage empire in Northern Africa like sewage systems
Get your metal detector out 😅
You find in other parts of England ancient pre Roman tracks with very steep banks either side partly due to being worn down by travellers creating a hollow way. This said to be where the name “ Holloway” originates! Mind you someone else may come up with another explanation 😁
@@SteveCopps Yeah watch my full video on my channel there's a few fascinating guesses and origins of the word hollow way based upon Saxon lexicon
@@SteveCopps Thanks for your comment

Loads of green lanes like this in england
@@AD-BC-84 Yes many
the ridgeway is the oldest road in the uk, its at least 3800yrs old its 89 miles long and goes from high wycombe to down near swindon
@@johnsmith-nl3js Yeah, I know about the ridgeway and icknield way, fosse way ect but I think harrow way could be as old as the ridgeway there not sure at least bronze age mabey even stone age which would make it a competitor.
@@johnsmith-nl3js Doggerland under the north sea is truly the oldest route
@@theexplorechanneluk7934 yea but u cant walk along that
Lots of tracks like this, we call them green lanes now, or a lot of them are bridal ways still
@@AD-BC-84 byways and bridleways, green laning could involve private tracks crossing ditches byways etc its more of a hobby than a road type
Cool 😎👍
Its amazing that people, our ancestors travelled that road so long ago. Was there ale houses, a place to rest? They did have to deal with brigands? Is it that the case that one end, being Dover, that one of the main uses of the road was trading with Europe, both ways?
Might well have been I'm unsure. I know some very old neanderthal routes are under the north sea where it was once land. On that part not much to be seen in terms of buildings just farms and a huge industrial estate. I know there's a lot of it from near Basingstoke to Andover way. This part was in Andover itself.
It is amazing though to know these people walked in that exact track I'm unsure when it stopped being used as a road I expect way before cars existed.
And the younger generation thimk we dont have any historical context
*i walk the line* music video 😅

Fomitopsis betulina - Birch Polypore. Not exactly a fungus you want to be eating as it is considered quite tough but it can be dried down and powder and used as mushroom flavour or boiled into stock or tea. Fantastic mushroom to learn for first aid as the skin can be peeled and used as a bush bandage as it adheres nicely to the skin.

No this wasn't in Surrey it was within the Wiltshire area. Thankyou for your comment we had lots of fun on this rope swing and will be returning for more adventures. Just uploaded a video on some history we found in the area.
Ti's what you think it is, could do with a video of it being sliced to be 100 percent, qualified forager so it is an educated guess but without more details it's just that, a guess, I don't like em either tbh, they get better cooked but textures nothing to sing and dance about either

@@theexplorechanneluk7934the ones I've found have always looked like they're well past their best before date but apparently it is possible to dry them and make a faux biltong/jerky
@@emmalee859 looked a bit rough to me. I'm not sure if all fungus eaten by nature is okay for humans to consume unsure.
@@theexplorechanneluk7934 on the one side it had been had by some slugs but the other side didn't look too bad and could have been cut away. For some mushrooms like porcine/cep - Boletus edulis it's a race against the slugs to get their first and trying to cut away as much edible mushroom as you can that doesn't look like it's been had. So often I've found some nice chunky stemmed mushrooms only to realise the piddly cap is the only thing unscathed by slugs 😂

Just don't eat it from a yew tree as that contains a compound called taxin which is very toxic and the mushroom can absorb that chemical if growing on a Yew 🌲
@@theexplorechanneluk7934that has recently been proven false by some British mycologists. As long as there is no wood/bark or needles on the mushroom then there is zero chance of COTW leaching toxins from any tree.
