Welcome to The Diamond-H channel. I am in my mid 50’s. A husband, father and grandfather. My volunteer job was serving my community as a Fire Captain and media relations officer in the fire service before I retired after 31 years. I spent 21 years in the aluminum extrusion industry and then transitioned to a new career in the retail fuel industry where I currently work in IT work and analytical reporting. I have operated and been around heavy equipment, motorsports and agricultural equipment for the majority of my life. I am a writer and enjoy writing short stories and poems. I enjoy doing fabrication, welding, electronics, amateur radio (ham), UTV riding, lawn maintenance and most of all, spending time in the seat of my tractor. My wife of almost 40 years and I own a 10-acre homestead in Southwest Arkansas and lease another 240 acres for various uses.

Adding teeth to your tractor grapple

In this video, I am fabricating and welding teeth bars to my grapple rake. I used a 3 foot long x 1/4 inch thick flat bar and drew a line down the center and cut out teeth on one half. The pieces are 4 inches long. I welded them to the outside of the crossbars and two on top on the outside edges. Thanks for watching. Check out the links below for deals. I took a shipping cage from my MechMaxx stump grinder and turned it into a welding table. I added extentions to the legs to make it 37 inches to the top of the table. I welded 5/8"X3 1/2" bolts to the angle extensions to make it mobile. Thanks for watching. Yes sir, they are exactly the same except for color. Made in the same manufacturing plant in China. Some people want to argue that, but they are.
@@MartyHenderson-ie9spI would have bought this one. Matches my tractor better. Where did you get it from?
I ordered mine directly from MechMaxx. I have the link in the description as well as my discount code for anyone who orders anything from MechMaxx.
We don't need a video of you welding, just show and demonstrate your grapple work
This video was about the build. Which included welding and cutting to make that happen. There will be a video on the use of it. Having a bad day?
It's strange that there are grapples without teeth out there. Is it for logging with minimal damage?
Believe it or not, the majority of grapples and especially rake grapples such as mine, don’t have teeth. A lot do have them though. I know of several people that prefer not to have teeth. I used this one hard for over a year and a half. I finally decided to try this. Thanks for the comment and watching.
Hi Marty I use the EDT and we had -10f the other morning and the 494 started like it was a warm summer day. EDT Hot Shot and the Kukje engine work well together. I will be trying the new grease because I believe Hot Shot makes a good product. Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching! Hey that stuff is awesome AND affordable. This new grease is great stuff. Make sure when you use it to push out whatever you were using beforehand. I am not sure which "flavor" >G< you are looking at using. For loader pins and bushings, it will not be that critical, but high speed, high temp wheel bearings, I would make sure all the old grease is completely purged out. My compatibility test I posted about on FB is still going strong and zero issues after 3 weeks. Thanks again for watching. I appreciate you.
Nice install.....good video production
Thank you so much. Thanks for watching.
Original thread on weld table is 10mm x 1.5. Can buy set of 4 heavy duty swivel/locking casters for $35 with shipping. I was planning on doing it like you but found the right thread and ordered. You’re right that makes it mush easier to use. You don’t have to bring heavy items to the table; you roll the table to the heavy items! Big saver on my back. Great job.
I appreciate that very much. I plan on getting another table and this will help save me some time. Thanks again and thanks for watching.
Had some issues with my install on the brotek yesterday so now I get to study all the tricks of maneuvering tires that are ballasted 🤦🏻♂️
What kind of issue did you have? You may need to borrow a pallet jack and build a lean to frame to hold the tires while off he tractor and putting them back on again.
@ brotek sent the wrong threaded bolts and they wouldn’t thread. I called them and they said their new shipping guy had messed up the bolts but we didn’t know until the mobile ballast guy had showed up at my place to do the job. So we took what we could.
@@EricDodgeMusicAndDance Oh my.
When I did a similar caster install on mine I noticed that rolling it over bumps/seams the sheet metal bottom of leg would bend so I welded 4 tabs inside of leg to help support the caster stems about an inch above the leg bottoms and this worked for me
Thank you. Great idea.
Thanks for the video! The more you do... the easier they will become
Thank you. That’s right. Thanks for watching my friend!
?
You cannot see the grinder rotor from the seat of the tractor. So I mounted a rear, wireless camera so I can see the rotor in order to place it on the stump correctly.
I dig it. Subscribed
Thank you sir. I appreciate you.
I like the paint stick . I will recheck mine tomorrow I dread the thought of a broke tractor. Mine is a nightmare to replace. Thanks. I set the slip clutch when the grinder was new and the plates moved but it won't hurt to recheck. This grinder is the greatest I have a DR walk behind I am 76 and that thing will give you a work out and only get the stump about 2 to 3" below the ground. 10:28 und.
Glad the video helped. Thanks for watching and replying.

Good info. Mine didn’t come with any instructions so I couldn’t measure the spring. I did make sure it was loose and then slightly tightened it up. Good tip on the screw driver slip method

Thanks my friend!
AWESOME video! That trail had some breath taking views! Beautiful cabin as well. Good stuff, sir!!
Thank you sir. It really is a beautiful place. This is our third time to ride this area. Mainly because we love this particular cabin. Thanks again.
if youre using a 2 row planter on the back and use these spacers on the back wheels, would you also need to add spacers to the front wheels?? since the planters would be following in the front wheel tracks.
If you are going to be using row crop implements such as a planter, cultivator etc, you would need to measure the row width for the implements and your rear tires. The spacers are sold in 1/2" increments from 1 inch all to way to 5 inches spacers. So they make whichever size would fit your needs, row spacing wise. Thanks for the question and for watching.
But generally, the front wheels do not need spacers.
@@MartyHenderson-ie9sp thanks for the info!! i have a mahindra 2638 and i used my 2 row jd planter but the rows are too close together bc i dont want to plant in the tire tracks. i think ill look in to the spacers and i think i can get a few more inches between the rows. Thanks again for the info!
@@Richard31406 You are most welcome sir. You should be able to get the exact spacing between rows you want just by adding the correct spacers to the rear.
i have a 2022 TYM T494H ROPS the rims and the inserts can be flipped to 4 different widths . does the 474 do that on the rear? we have the same KUKJE A2300 engine. the most simple modern tractor engine on the planet. mech. fuel injection. mine has 94 hours and still no regen. i hear some go 200 hours b4 a regen. how long did yours take?
Hi there. The rear wheels are fixed and non adjustable on the rear of the T474. I have over 200 hours on mine and no regeneration yet and don’t expect one. I know of several T474, T494, 4820, T574 with well over 300 hours and no regeneration yet. Thanks for watching and commenting. I love my T474.
@@MartyHenderson-ie9sp KUKJE A2300 mech fuel inj. is the # 1 reason to buy a TYM. I was told 1 computer (data logger) and 6-7 sensors on KUKJE and 7 computers and 22 sensors on the TYM YANMAR. 445 and 455. yanmar makes fantastic engines but they are loud and complicated. no dealer needed if you are good with trouble shooting when you own a mech fuel inj. engine. I'm told if you have DPF issues ten years down the road you can easily bypass/delete the particulate filter. you have to unplug the data logger. since 2018 I had Yanmar sa-324 TLB then KIOTI NX4510 then to the TYM T494. ALL fantastic machines! I did get a 2021 COVID KIOTI with a trany problem so they gave me the T494 to replace it.great vidjas. thank you rick Canadarago lake NY (Cooperstown)
Yes sir, that’s all VERY true. Simple to maintain and simple to repair if needed. These A-Series engines are just solid as a rock though and extremely rare repair needs besides owner neglect. Thanks again sir.
Looking good Marty! The T474 sure does a good job with a six food rotary mower. The older Landpride RCR2672 I found for $500 is a beast mowing. It's got such intertia it goes through most things without slowing down.
Thanks my friend. Yes sir, it is amazing what this T474 pushes through with no problem. That is about as tall and thick of stuff we have had to deal with. This past spring was ultra wet and I could not even think about getting to this particular location. As a matter of fact, I was exactly two months late getting this mowed down. Thanks for the comment and watching sir.
I have a T474 and I'm entertaining installing spacers. I feel a little uneasy on slight slopes. Both 3" and 4" are available for the tractor. My question is there a reason why you choose the 3" over the 4"?
Hi there! I chose the 3 inch to make my rear 6 inches wider. The 4 inch would make it a tighter fit on my trailer. I too was contemplating 3 or 4. But ultimately decided the 4 inch would be too much stress on the rear wheel bearings. 3 inch has been perfect for my use. Totally different tractor since adding the spacers. Thanks for watching!
@@MartyHenderson-ie9sp Marty, I appreciate the response. Great video.
@@rpoirier.westhill Thank you so much.
I loved mowing at night the other night. The headlights are great
Thanks for watching! I have an almost invisible flood light bar mounted underneath my tractor canopy. It’s great. I need to add side lights to the Rops that I bought.
I was on the first trip in 2019, where the Bigboy was traveling together with the 844. Unforgettable!
I bet that was an incredible experience.
Just bought a TYM 474C, Great tractor, very happy with it.
That is fantastic! Congratulations on your new T474. I love mine. Over a year old with 200 hours and zero issues. It just keeps asking for more and more. Enjoy and thanks for watching.
Well man!.. that is what you bought.it is a smaller frame, that is the selling point. Should have bought a T494 full frame
I sort of agree with you to a point. But we have three tractors, two of which are full frames. By adding spacers to my T474, it made it the perfect tractor for me. I like the compactness of the T474 and yet the power. I use my T474 on lawns sometimes and our full frame John Deere 5103 is just too large for that use. Thanks for watching.
Do you have liquid ballast in rear and front tires ?
Hi there. No, I do not have ballast in the front or rear. I may not put ballast in this tractor because I use it on lawns too and do not want that extra weight. Thanks for watching!
I agree with you, but I like to have casters that have a locking brake.
Yes sir, if it was going to be used on a completely flat surface, I would have too. But it sits on the grass and dirt and doesn’t move when I’m using it.
What's better than seeing 1 tractor in the wild? 2 tractors!! 😂 That scenery is beautiful!
😂Right! And thank you.
Nice looking place Marty
Thank you very much. We have spent a lot of time and money getting this place cleaned up and decent. New video upload coming up tonight. Thanks for watching and the comment.
Beautiful land
Thank you sir. Thanks for watching.
That's a beautiful ride. Any day in the seat of a tractor is indeed a good day!
Yes sir, absolutely. Thanks for watching my friend.
Good work. I would like to attach an attachment point to each of my axle flanges to allow me to chain my T474 to my trailer. Do you know a vendor or the bolt circle? Thanks again.
Thank you for watching. I have not seen anyone try that, but I would think that would be some added stress pulling outward on the end of the axle. I am not sure of the bolt pattern, I have never measured it yet. But I probably will now. LOL
Thanks for the video, As for using a straight extensions, it's ok as long as it's held straight. I see you have some sort of flexible socket and that's ok also as long as it's held straight.
@charleschapman2428 Thanks for watching. I was hoping it would help others that were thinking about doing the same installation. I almost did not make this video and stopped and got the tripod and camera out. I figured someone would benefit. Yes, at that time, my regular long extension was at another location so I had to resort to the ole wobble extension which is a real pain. LOL. Thanks again.
I have partnered with Nova Tractor and if you us my code MHAR7 when you purchase something, they will send you free extra parts for whatever you buy and use my code. Thanks.
I'm in northern Arkansas, I've had a couple close calls already. Same issue, inclines. Great video install and presentation. Thank you.
Thank you very much. I appreciate that. I am very happy with the spacers, it totally changed the way the tractor handles and rides.
Good stuff Marty!!
Thank you Sir! Thanks for watching.
What is the maximum offset to the right with the hydraulic offset? Are still pleased with your purchase? Any reason why you didn’t purchase a larger/wider model? Thank you, I’m looking to purchase a flail mower.
Thanks for your questions. The offset is right at 2 feet past the rear tire. I chose the MFZ-175 for rear width coverage with my TYM T474. I thought about the next size up but they were out of stock last year when I bought. I’m absolutely happy with it after 50 plus hours of hard use. If you choose to buy one from Nova Tractor, you can enter code MHAR7 and get yourself some free stuff added in on your order. Thanks for watching.
Does your MFZ175 have shear pins or do you have a slip clutch for your PTO?
@@stevenjacques6208 Good morning. The PTO is direct drive and is protected by a belt drive system on the mower. It has 4 heavy duty belts that run from the top pully down to the the drive rotor. If anything ever binds up or hits something really hard, the belts will slip instead of harming the mower or the tractor. I have not had any issues at all with either slippage or anything. As a matter of fact, the mower is being used on my tractor this week. It has been a flawless 60 plus hours since last year and the belt tension is just as tight as it was when I checked it when new. To me that is amazing, just knowing how hard I have worked this thing out in the woods clearing underbrush limbs and trails. Thanks for the questions.
So I purchased the exact same flail mower after shoot six months of thinking. I have a 3038E John Deere and boy have I put that flail mower and some thick trees. I don’t have a third function so I had to put both hydraulic ins into some fluid and then I used a ratchet strap to set it or I want, but I figured whenever I add function it’ll be a great thing to have. I’ve been meaning to make a video, but I haven’t. I thought well over 50 hours on it and like I said, I lifted it full up reversed onto a 4 inch tree and just pushed it down slowly as it ate it and it shredded that tree the 3.3 pounders hammers.
@@user-vd4bk1ll9m It is definitely heavy duty as Nova Describes it. I have also done some things with it that aren't really supposed to do and it never backs down. Thanks for watching and commenting.
