Toyota Land Cruiser F engine fuel pump rebuild

Toyota Land Cruiser F engine fuel pump rebuild
Have you installed a relay for your headlights and used the steering wheel switch?….. I am upgrading the headlights on my FJ62 and trying figure out where to tap into the steering wheel switch.
Looks similar to my FJ62 FL? 2 land cruisers, 2 alternator issues SMH
Similar for sure but smaller. The FJ62 fusible link has 5 wires vs 3. We are going to release our FJ62 specific rebuild kit very soon. :)
@@cruisercult Yep I pulled the trigger on it anyway Ive owned mostly FJ60s/FJ40s the only failure I had on my 60 was on the Alaska highway driving from FL, that failure was the fuesable link.
Great stuff. This should all be written down some where. Is it?
would this work if it doesnt turn into 4wd?
Yes. You should test your Vacuum actuators. One engages 4wd and one disengaged 4wd. If it isn’t turning on or off one of them is likely not working. Or there is a break in the metal vacuum tubes that run from the fire wall to the frame or the hose from the metal line to the transfer case has a leak.
@@cruisercult thank you! much appreciated
Where is the link for the lights?
hi chase, may i know what roof rack you are using?
@@jonathanlee34 hi, I am running a flat rack from Trail Tailor. Super happy with it.
Hi @jonathanlee34 this is a flat rack from Trail Tailor. A couple companies make a similar version. You can also check out Gamaviti which also has a similar “flat rack”. The low sides make it easy for large items like lumber.
@@cruisercult hey chase, thanks for the prompt reply! Cheers
Thank you for the video. Why not just replace the seal rather than purchase a whole new housing. Also, I could not appreciate the difference between the two seals.
@@bobs2440 so the original housing only accepts one seal. Over the time seal and the shaft surface it rides on degrades over time. Even a new single seal won’t fully stop a leak. The new housings from Valley Hybrids are machined to accept two seals. This gives them a new surface to seal against and prevent leaks.
Perfect explanation. Thank you! Imagine a similar outcome with a new seal and a Speedi-Sleeve approach. I will look up the vendor you referenced. Thanks again.
I just bought a fj60 with that engine what do you recommend me keep it or chevy swap its manual 4 speed
Congrats on the new 60! I think you should first enjoy your truck for a while. Really get to know what you love and don't love about it. Also, what do you want this 60 for? Some people love the 2F and stick with it no matter what. Some people love the power of the LS swaps. If plan to load it down, do tons of miles, want to keep up with modern traffic and have a fist full of dollars for a swap... A v8 sure is nice. hahaha. But again, enjoy your new 60 for a while and get a feel for it and what you want. :) Cheers!
@cruisercult thank you, you right i want the rig to explore Baja and also California a little bit of beach and camping .
Kirsten said I really want to come home
I have a 3 on the tree that I need to rebuild on my dad's 72 Chevy would you happen to know by chance please who might have the parts to rebuild it... I need a part for the steering column... I just cannot find them!!
Man I cant even get the light to come on haha (but it was locked) reversed it unlocked trxfr case.
Thank You so much for all your videos. I'm in Delaware state and i would like to know WHERE i can buy Toyota Japanese Part\Aftermarket " Made in Japan ". I own a 1977 FJ40 with 2F motor with a Manual Transmission.
There are a great number of parts still available from Toyota that can be sourced in the USA. Some parts are not sold in the US but can be purchased from overseas Toyota parts houses. The best bet for domestic Landcruiser parts if you are not sure how to look up part numbers using the Toyota EPC would be to contact a Landcruiser specific company like Cruiser Outfitters.
What would make a 3fe run very well and after maybe 30min start to act like it’s running out of gas, stalling, unresponsive throttle but if you take your foot off the gas will idle perfectly fine, and after a minute or two go back to normal and after 20-30min start acting up again?
Hey, Have you hooked up a vacuum guage to the vehicle? I would and look to see if you have a vacuum leak when you get that stumble. If that theory tests out look at all your rubber hoses to see if you have any cracks. If not related to vacuum it could be that the wire loom near the exhaust manifold is getting warm and causing resistance which is throwing sensor signals off and causing the stumble. Check the vacuum first before jumping into wiring.
mine is 1981 fj40 i rebuilt the engine after 767 thousand kilometers as well as the trans and the transfercase it is a great machine ❤❤❤❤
When you make a how to video, you should show you actually doing the thing. "Here's my beer and here's the finished product"
Good point! We needed both hands for install. 😂. So you will need to have a place to set the beer down.
Where can a person source the rebuild kit
You can get them here: cruiser-cult.myshopify.com/collections/40-series/products/copy-of-fj40-fuel-pump-rebuild-kit
Domed 2f pistons were from 75-80. 😊
Thank you for the valuable information. I am restoring an FJ45V in Japan and have been gathering information to overhaul its carburetor. My SD-40 is stamped with 【H 9323】, which might be slightly different from the date you mentioned. Currently, I am looking for a repair kit for this carburetor, which I have been unable to find in Japan. If you happen to know where I can find this repair kit, I would be grateful if you could let me know. Thank you.
Hey! We will have some SD40 repair kits in stock soon. Should be about a week. :) Send us a photo of your FJ45! We would love to see it. 😍
Nice
Thanks! I’m changing the seal today! …. Grr 4 hrs later, I’ve been reminded to replace 50yr old bolts, before torquing them to spec! Off to bolt store tomorrow! Still, thanks for your tuition!
what door skins do you have on your rig?
Australian Door Cards
hey chase, great video. I was watching your 80 steering box swap video and have a question regarding the install. what steering gear fluid did you use during the install? also, did you have to purge air, or bleed the steering gear box system?
Hey! Sorry just saw this. For the power steering system I used DexMerc III compatible fluid. That was the type specified in the factory service manual. Valvoline still sells a fluid at the local auto store that should work well. :) For bleeding: I filled the system, jacked up the front so the wheels were off the ground, turned on the truck, turned it lock to lock once, turned it off and checked the reservoir. Topped off the fluid, turned it on and the wheel lock to lock a few times. Kept repeating that until the reservoir stopped needing fluid and there were no bubbles. 👍😁
This worked for me! Much appreciated!
I have so many questions for him...I really wish I could have been the interviewer. The last two digits of 12 digit part numbers (-XX) aren't just for color like he said. They can also designate things like material/build quality, whether it's made by Toyota or they have used a third party manufacturer, etc. Part numbers with specific letter combinations added to original part number sequences can also mean that the one containing the additional letters is a lesser quality version available to the public compared to the original one used during original assembly. So many questions!
Thanks for the great post.
Thanks for the excellent info. Do you know if John ever published or shared his document/paper? I would love to read if possible.
I have looked at the price for this kit like $360 does is shipped with bag of cocaine?
Hahahaha, I don't remember it being that high, maybe the price went up?
So I did the vacuum line switch and tried turning off the 4wd drive and the 4wd light is still stuck on. Thoughts?
Is the 4wd still engaged as well? Can you turn the front driveshaft by hand?
I have a 5/85 FJ60 - I don't have that connector. Is it possible that connector is left-over from removing the Headlamp Cleaner Relay/Timer, that would be right under Emissions Computer (Black Box with blue/sliver foil decal)?
Are you talking about the extra connector in the Driver's kick panel? If so, that does seem a bit odd since a buddy with an earlier 60 does have this spare connector kicking around.
Your video is awesome! Next chrisfix!!
Junk video , doesn't show how to do ANY of the stuff you might need help with. If you need help with the door/window rebuild go to the 40 Channel, he's got a good video
Mine has the double seal and the speedi sleeve and it leaks along the spline. I have used orange Toyota fipg and it still leaks, at this point just living with it but embarrassing on the trail.
This may not be your issue but I've seen MANY people remove the speedo gear off output shaft. This is what causes gear lube to basicly flow out of rear and will cause bearing chatter among other things before cases are damaged. They do this because they are not using factory speedo or just don't realize this is also a spacer to get bearing preload on output shaft so if you haven't looked to see if yours is on the previous owner may have taken it off. It is a possiblity. The splines of brake drum butt into the speedo gear keeping gear oil from flowing out
Thank you for the reply and I am not using the factory speedo I will look
Do you know where I can buy the parts for the internals of the backing plate
Sorry, did you ever find the parts you needed? If not, reach out to Georg at Valley Hybrids, he can help you out for sure.
Hey guys. On a Toyota starter motor eg 28100-0T030 why is there an F or C after them? what is the difference?
The part I need for my Prius v 2012, is a (master cylinder) 47050-47110 which ranges from 1200-1700$, there is a part number that is 47050-47140 specs and pictures look identical but that part is 700$ at most at the dealer. I haven’t been able to locate an interchange list for the part at all. Could I just go with the cheaper part? Would there be any internal differences? I appreciate ur time and help here so much! God bless
I will be doing this on my fj40 soon. I couldn’t find the kit on there website I’ll probably email them.
Very very powerful motors 👍👍
This was exactly what I needed!
Very informative ! Thank you
Such a cool vid!! Where in the world did you score this... I wonder how many guys have been yanked out of that vehicle by the buffalo!!😂
Hahaha, no joke. I am sure many people got injured from that rodeo. :D I found it digging around on the internet just by chance. Figured it would be good to host! :) The footage is just awesome.
cool loved it thank you
This is a goldmine of info. Amazing. Subscribed!
is the 2f better than the 3f?
Thanks for this video. Very helpful and straightforward. My 40 suffers from this and now I understand why. Will definitely be a project in the near future. Thanks again!
I’ve got a ‘78 FJ40 and an ‘87 FJ60, and I’ve always thought it was a different gear set that made the ‘87 cruise so much better on the highway…but now I know the truth! Great video, thank you!
I had the opportunity to meet Nolen at his home earlier this year. What a nice guy!
Thank you for posting this video. Would you know if the pin arrangement the same for 24V 60 series cruisers?
Awesome video. Do you know if the early F is the same rubber components as later F’s?
also forgot to mention we used to use the car sector numbers for engine parts IE oil filters were 15601-33021 then Toyota industrial changed our numbers to 76 numbers IE 15601-76001-71 as Toyota know we could buy them from car dealers or visa versa and it was to stop us from inter trading
Hey guys. On a Toyota starter motor eg 28100-0T030 why is there an F or C after them? what is the difference?
I work within the industrial section and our numbers end in 71 indicating Industrial only IE 16100-78300-71 water pump for 1Z engine we are also seeing numbers now with letters 33110-H8003-71 we are trying to find out what the H stands for any help appreciated
THANK YOU - NOW I UNDER STOOD WHY THERE IS NO 18
