*Ramsay Hunt syndrome (RHS) type 2 also known as herpes zoster oticus is a disorder that is caused by the reactivation of pre-existing herpes zoster virus in the geniculate ganglion, a nerve cell bundle, of the facial nerve.* Ramsay Hunt syndrome type 2 typically presents with inability to move many facial muscles, pain in the ear, taste loss on the front of the tongue, dry ears and mouth, and the eruption of an erythematous rash. Treatment with the corticosteroid Prednisone and acyclovir has been shown to achieve complete recovery in a majority of patients if started within the first three days of facial paralysis, with chances of recovery decreasing as treatment was delayed. Delay of treatment may result in permanent facial nerve paralysis. Patient MUST take corticosteroid to fight inflammation, this is the ONLY anti-inflammatory drug works on Ramsay Hunt syndrome type II. Also MUST take Acyclovir, it helps suppress the virus. Most doctors will prescribe these two anyway. *Optional alternative medicines and treatments that can help* *_( HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)_*: 1) *Acupuncture needle*, done by licensed professional acupuncturist only. Mostly done on facial and ear acupoints, one session every 3 days (to lessen inflammation and pain, *helps restore facial paralysis*). Note: Between professional acupuncturist sessions, home electronic acupoint stimulation device can be also be used twice per day every day on facial and ear areas, avoid eye areas. Must operate carefully according to device manufacturer's instruction, and with extreme care not to cause shock. Only very gentle and faint stimulation in acupuncture needle mode or massage mode. 2) *Bee propolis*, 2 to 3 grams per dose every few hours on empty stomach for fast absorption (to lessen inflammation and pain, this works better than pain killer drugs). . 3) *Vitamin B12* (make sure it's the Methylcobalamin type, it helps heal nerves). 4) *Vitamin C* (1 gram per dose with every meal or every 3 - 4 hours with solid food or liquid food). 5) *Calcium* together with other minerals and vitamin D to combine with it for absorption (corticosteroid depletes calcium in bones, this mineral must be replenished quickly through supplements). 6) *High quality multivitamin supplement* with every meal, helps strengthen immune system. 7) *Lots of sleep and water*. If the patient starts these treatments within 3 days from the first sign, the recovery rate is better than 95%. Corticosteroid should not be used for more than 2 weeks because it's very damaging to organs and bones.

This takes me right back to June 1, 2006: The Day I Awoke With 100% Paralysis to the Left Side of My Face. Yes, it, too, was Ramsey-Hunt Syndrome. Awful but survivable. I remain partially paralyzed. The eye still doesn't close properly and I have a little trouble with my mouth/lips on the left. Watering or dryness of the eye can be troublesome at times. The left eye brow/forehead still looks as though it has had a Botox treatment. I'll try to post a video of my progress. Thx 4 yours!!!

The Ramsay Hunt Syndrome is BELLS PALSY PLUS vesicular eruption INSIDE auditory canal and oropharynx. somtimes the vesciles can take days to occur and may not occur at all in some cases. the nuerologist would have to look INSIDE your external auditory canal on AFFECTED side to vcerify this.

I suffered from the same thing this past March......You can have Ramsay Hunt without having shingles or blisters......no it isn't deadly, just annoying. Since it is a elevated form of Bell's Palsy.....once you get it, you have it for life. You may recover, and be fine for a while, but it can start up out of nowhere. Good example is WWE announcer Jim Ross. He has had Bell's since 1996, and has been fine for almost 10 years. But he just recently had another attack, but this time it is much worse,
