    This is insanity. Go to Tractor Supply and ask for 16 gauge livestock hypodermic needle and barrel. Get some liquid gorilla glue and warm it slightly in the microwave so it flows and fill the barrel of the syringe. Pull the steering wheel as forward as you can and with the hypodermic needle inject the needle to the steel core and push in some glue. Let dry overnight and that’s it. This is too much work!

    I see that you have placed a small strip along the length to provide structure along with the polyurethane foam. The main problem with these trays, being so long, is to combine the length with a low weight and to prevent sagging in the center due to their own weight or when placing something on top. I just finished a tray for my car using 5 mm plywood, some wood strips to provide structure, and some fiberglass, but I can't get it under 2 kilos and it tends to bend at some point. That's why choosing the most appropriate material is important, considering that wood is a living material that tends to change with humidity and temperature. Did the foam really provide the structure, light weight and strength needed for this?

    • @DavidRoadworthyish
      @DavidRoadworthyish 2 місяці тому

      I guess it’s a choise. My underlying sheet is still Perfect. And the car lives outside… But yeah, getting to weak a board Will make it sag, and then the foam will let go.. The Only reason for the foam was to make the shape close to the oem corolla parcel shelf

      Good point.. I didn’t have any air in. I Think it more meant for mechanical mixing, like with a drill or mixer… When I pour it’s free of bubbles, and I always tap the moulds.. normally basicly no air bubbles comes up.

      Yes and no… The electrical draw on a desent fan will strain your alternator, and that in turn will take power to run… I Would much rather run the mechanical. SO much more cooling than an electrical. But I get your point.

    The “safety drive” sticker is from the Tokyo rubber Company, and it was on alot of japanese race cars in the 70’s. Many belive that it was due to the fact that racers had a bigger influence on the youth than add campains, and there for the racers were paid to have them on the cars… Truth was that it was the sponsor of the races, and that they Would have to put them on the car…🎉

    • @fritsified5952

      Well you missed an important point about this sticker. Yes, it is from a rubber company, called Okamoto, and they did sponsor race events. The point is that they are a manufacturer of condoms. It still exists, some packages still have this logo. And so there is a different meaning to the "safety drive" words :)

    Hey Roadworthy! Great job! As always, the algorithm doesn´t do justice... This is one of the cleanest custom harnesses I have ever seen, a little shame you had to recycle some broken connectors (here in Japan you can still find replacements), but, as a guy who bought a crazy Trueno Zenki with two harnesses installed from the previous owner (and terrifying turbo...), I would love to have the engine bay as you have there! And about the exhaust manifold with surface rust, just apply a rust converter, it´s a little shame to have to add the heatshield there with that beautiful-looking stock setup. But of course, is your AE86! :)

      @@DavidRoadworthyish Well, you are lucky, you have the space and knowledge to do a turbo conversion, in my case I don´t have the tools enough and got an AE86 with so illegal turbo, so I have to return it to stock due Japanese laws... But it´s fine, I got with 70000km and the intention is to use as a daily, not like a racing car. Here in Japan I use the one of SOFT99 brand, when you apply the first reaction is turning the rust into purple, and after curing it looks like black painted, but its not. In your case David I think it will be better if you can find the Würth one, I see similar results. Remember to use metal brush to lose all the surface rust particles first and then you are ready to go.

      @@CrakerMc Youre too kind. I would love to do the turbo kit for it at some point... I´ll look into it. I used some left over stuff I had at some point, but I think it was over due, so it just fizzled and did nothing.. 😖

    Also, please note the position of the oil cooler ;-) I think I always wanted to have it like this, and not out infront of the front bumper anyways... But the comments made me decide that it needed to go behind the bumper

    Hello. The celica is coming along very well. You spoke about the alternator being a modern one. What type of alternator are you using? Did you have to fabricate a bracket for the alternator? I had a few oil pressure gauges go bad internally. I just replaced it with a AutoMeter one. Keep up the great work and keep the content coming.

      Thanks… some progress has been made. I’am running a 1996 Carina E alternator… it fits the V-belt. Had to make a bracket, tensioner and new harness, but HUGE upgrade over Stock… I removed the autometer gauges that came with the car when I Got it… so I wanna stay with the Stock gauges… dash isn’t done yet, and wiring not hooked up, so all dead apart from coolant temp. Will get them all hooked back up when I finish the dash. Thanks, I’ll do my best.

      It’s map sensor Stock. Well I Think it was… It ran, and later on I found a broken suply wire to the ecu… so the setup was fine… but still opted for the speeduino
