17,000 Miles so far on the truck and she has treated me well. Let me know in the comments what you think or if you have any questions on the build.
All the music is a bit much
Definitely a good healthy hobby to have! I love those mountain creeks! I could hang out there all day easy. Your fiance is absolutely getting better at calling out obstacles and movements. That last obstacle looked like the most difficult you have attempted thus-far.
@@boldger13 haha thanks Max, next time your in the Smokey’s be sure to check out roan mountain state park!
Nice build, bro! Trucks coming along nicely. Corn :)

CONGRATS on the new Fiance! And awesome video!
@@BroncBro thanks AZ! We need to go out again!
I'm interested in getting a TB and putting a lightweight 400-pound pop-up camper on it. I heard there is a sticker in the glove box that says you shouldn't put a camper on the TB. What do you know about that?
@@mickeybrumfield764 I haven’t seen said sticker, I would go by the manufacturers payload capacity for my truck in particular is 1,559LBS. I have seen many ZR2’s with campers installed which have less of a payload capacity.
@rossoverland From what I understand, there is a sticker in the glove compartment. I have seen Colorado trucks with lightweight campers on them also. I know Chevy and GM now put a sticker in the glove compartment of their Silverado trucks with a maximum load recommendation for their trucks for carrying slide in campers. It is usually significantly less than the payload on the door jam. I also would have thought the normal payload of the truck would be the thing to go by.
@@mickeybrumfield764 you know what, I just checked again and you are right. It says “THIS TRUCK SHOULD NOT BE USED TO CARRY A SLIDE IN CAMPER” and looked at some more GM pdfs on the subject.
@rossoverland I think it says that even on the Silverado 1500 TB. I am interested in getting a Colorado TB and putting a pop-up camper on it, but it won't be a slide in variety. I'm interested in getting a much lighter only 350 to 400 lb type that doesn't sit in the bed of the truck. Thanks for the info.
@@mickeybrumfield764 glad I could help!
CONGRATULATIONS GUYS 🎉🥲🥲🫶🫶
Trail looks awesome also !!! 🔥🔥
Thanks dude!!
New fiancé puttin in work ! 👏👏
I’m missing the smokies and it’s nice to see it again through your lens. It’s also nice seeing a full-size rig do some off-road action. Congrats to both of you, wishing you two all the best! 🤙
@@maxdexpeditions thank you! It’s an amazing place for sure!
I’ve owned my bought new 2023 Colorado Trail Boss for over a year now, I’ve only put 4K miles on it but I can say these trucks ride a little rough! My wife’s 2019 Toyota Highlander is way smoother! So if it’s riding worse than stock that’s gotta be a rough ride and I believe you when you said that ✌️ but it looks way better than stock!
@@jimmycline4778 thanks man! With the stock setup I think it rode quite well for a truck. Atleast coming from my 2nd gen Colorado it rode way better. The leveling kit definitely makes it more harsh and combined with the higher rated and heavier tires!
Looking to do a similar build once I purchase my '23 Trail Boss! I'm super new to the overland-community, and from the PNW. Would you ever consider spraying the bed? I've seen other builds spray with Rhino Liner?
@@JOCKINBK nice man! Yes 100% the bed is getting sprayed before my smart cap goes on.
Awesome Rig you have! You would have enjoyed the rest of Hurricane creek!
@@VDRC20 thanks man! I know such a bummer! We are going back up next month and I intend to complete it!

@@MeGustaGuerra No, although I can see it helping when towing for long periods of time. I don’t think this truck needs it with these tires. It is still very peppy, and I can get after it on and off the trail.
Those aren’t 35’s lmfao.
@@user-dw4cv3xq5u 315/70R17: Tread width (315mm) and overall diameter (34.4-34.5 inches) are equivalent to a 35-inch tire. Additionally only a couple select manufacturers make a “true” 35” tire, most do not truly measure to 35”.
@rossoverland true, most 35s are 33.5, maybe 34. Just like 33s are 31.75
I thought you could only stay on the main roads there. I go fishing there every so often and all I been told are you can't be on this road lol
@@davesimpson8943 You are allowed to drive vehicles on these trails. The only trails in a FL State forest or WMA’s are NAMED and NUMBERED roads. We are on the blue and small section of the pink trail. If you see a sign which reads “no vehicles past this point” then you know it is not a legal trail. Currently due to the summer rainy season the forest service has temporarily closed them due to heavy rain and mud. They are open seasonally depending on conditions. You can read and find out more on the FDACS website. www.fdacs.gov/Forest-Wildfire/Our-Forests/State-Forests/Picayune-Strand-State-Forest

3 engine options, turbo 4, turbo 4, and turbo 4.
haha, technically 2 engine options, and three different tunes.
Maybe I'm alone in this, but I'm 100% fine with the interior. I'm fine with my maverick XLT as well which is similar level of plastics. Stitching is a fair point, make it feel like it's a somewhat special model, because it is. It's a hell of a truck for the money and really the only truck I'm considering.
This interior looks easy to clean for a truck that’s ment to be in dirty places! Would be nice to have some style on the inside but the truck speaks for itself on the outside!
ua-cam.com/video/YX-8WpfH0d0/v-deo.htmlsi=hukKZleNKgkRbIpF incredible Trail.
Coming from a long time Taco user, been debating between Ranger and TB. So far I’m leaning towards TB, but not happy not having fog lights it’s definitely needed on trails in the evening. Awesome post by the way.
I need a vacation! This video was more unique in the series, in that it let nature speak for itself. Thanks for all of your hard work sharing this captured moment in time with the world.
I agree, appreciate it max!

if you are running 50 watts of GMRS, that antenna is too close to your face.
2 things, we live in Zephyrhills Florida, ride our atv up in Ocala national forest, I have a 2022 colorado 2wd, had a 2016 Silverado z71 off road, constant transmission issues, I don't need 4x4, I am liking my v6 colorado a lot
I had a 2018 Z71 offroad Colorado, loved the V6 Colorado. No issues, great throttle response.
@rossoverland yup, my Silverado had that annoying cylinder deactivation bullshit, my colorado has some pep, I do wish it was 4x4 at times so we can go into the forest more like we used to, but oh well, we just park at the trail head and off load our atv there and go exploring, be safe, and I like your truck
@@woofman4796 we’ve been to ONF several times with the truck, some super fun trails and camping out there. But honestly if you don’t want pinstripes, you’ll have more fun on an ATV lol. Thanks man!
@@rossoverland yup, my Silverado had a bunch from branches down both sides 😁
God damn jeep Cherokee !!
Was definitely a major buzzkill… can’t wait to go back and try it again.
Your candid review is highly appreciated , thank you sir ! 👍
Nice vid. I like your review. I have had one about a month and it’s been my favorite truck I’ve ever had.
Having been a Chevy technician, you don’t want LED headlights. Instead of 50-100 bucks for bulbs. You’ll have to fork over 1000$+ for the whole assembly.
I wanted to jump into that creek by the looks of it! Dang Jeeps....always in the way! lol
Sad… I’m hoping to complete the whole trip this October
Those views were so epic that they were surreal! Cool inclined roads....did you ever have to back-up to let someone pass you? That was definitely a hike.
There where so few people out due to the time of year and it being a weekday so we didn’t have much trouble, but it was awesome
Tellico plains is awesome. Can't wait to camp there again during the fall season!
I had never been to that area, it was one of my favorites!
I cannot wait to explore trails with elevation unlike FL! Great video!
I can't wait to go back!
Makes me want to go on a long adventure again ! 😢BEAUTIFUL!
Thanks! And me too! Hopefully next year I can come out west!!
I want to run the SM 1000 myself! Looking forward to the next one 👍🏻
You absolutely should! You would have a great time.
Plus side of going in the colder months, 105 is empty! It's always packed when we're out there in the summer with all kinds of vehicles. Great episode!
Thank you! Took inspo from you on that! The 105 was awesome
Nice video! I have a 2024 Z71 that I’ve had about a month that I am really happy with. What is the mount system you have in there that holds your phone and radio? I’m looking to get a nice portable HAM radio in my truck.
Thanks man! Check out www.bulletpointmountingsolutions.com/products/rubigrid-2023-chevrolet-colorado-gmc-canyon-dash-mount-phone-holder for the mounting bracket, you can pretty much add anything you want to it.
Thanks! Gonna get a Chevy Colorado either 2024 or 2025! 🔥
Very good review.
Thanks!

@@Shadow-lq7rx Glad you had a good time!
Awesome vid Question is there cell phone reception out there or do you have a gps with the preloaded trails? Here in Miami wanting to start getting off road more often.
There is decent cell service out there. I recommend OnX offroad, or Gaia GPS. With those you will be able to have offline routes downloaded to your device.
such a fun weekend!
It sucks that LED headlights aren't standard for the price of the truck. Then again, we had a Honda with LED headlights and they died after a coupleyears and were a couple grand to replace. I haven't heard of GM LED headlights failing prematurely, but it's always something to consider. Halogens suck but are cheap to replace. I think they held back on features in the Trailboss in order to try to push people into the ZR2.
Totally agree
Have a TB and swapped the halogens for LEDs.
What trim did you have in the 2nd gen? Did you enjoy your experience? Debating on getting a 2nd gen ..depending on how much cheaper they are compared to the 3rd gen trucks. Prices are F'in nuts these days.
I had a great experience with my 2nd gen. No issues I had a 2018 Z71, traded it in at 80,000 miles. It had the V6, I absolutely gave that motor its run for the money. If I were buying one today and you wanted to do the offroad stuff. You can get a 2nd gen ZR2 at a great price.
I’m picking my 24 Colorado TB late next week, wheels have not arrived yet. Kinda funny that the wheels on it are for delivery only.
