Wind Turbine Site Check: Thrive or Fail?
Переглядів 1,1 тис.7 місяців тому
Most important: Checking the wind your site! Investing in a small wind turbine is the first step towards energy independence. But without a thorough site check regarding the local wind resource, it's easy to end up with a system that falls short of expectations, leading to both financial loss and disappointment. It's a common misconception to assume your property is sufficiently windy; however,...

How much noise do wind turbines produce between 3 and 15m high for example? Some people say as much as a 'fridge' but distance must be an important factor?
30.000 dollars for the turbine alone ... lol. I pay ca. 300 euros per year for electricity. Which means, even if I live for another 100 years I still would not have spent as much money as for this turbine alone.
I want to know more about small wind turbine specially the Savonius, where can I find more detailed data?
I would be interested in knowing the generating motor size on each... As in, at 50rpm = 10watt ? (If the horizontal has a larger motor, then the test is flawed) Traditionally a horz has 9 points of wear, while the vert only has 3.... Which makes the vert cheeper to maintain (some tests also say verticals will turn on less air)... Stay Safe
I wonder if you have time and we talk about promotion of small wind turbines in locations where I live
I enjoyed the presentation. Very practical .thanks
30K? 20-30 years payback. Only viable in very small range of situations. How do they even sell these?
So I have to wait till the system cost doubles n price? Here in southern Spain I just got quoted 11200 euro for a 5 kw sys all included ( yes battery as well) installed… what is going on here? Meanwhile one of the largest electricity distributors offered and I signed it a rate of € 0.1023 per kWh… I can sign up for a night tariff (less that 0.8 ) charging battery (purchase =2000) , i am considering that…as the electrical would have a smooth feed not influencing my high end sound system….
I didn't understand why we want half of kw we need?
*Who need small wind turbines?!? With solar panels you produce at least 10x more electricity!* All real life tests show that small wind turbines produce hardly any electricity and don´t last long.
*All practical tests of ground-based small wind turbines show: 1) They hardly produce any electricity. 2) They do not last long!* With solar panels, you can generate at least 10 times more green electricity with the same investment! Reliable and almost maintenance-free.
What is the best wind inverters for wind turbine?
I am interested in getting into some types of partnerships for the promotion of these small turbines for improving the living conditions of people in the off-grid areas in my part of the world. great presentation
most relevant to my situation in the Karakoram and Hindukush mountains. a wonderful presentation

I appreciate your opinion but wish you would have found a vertical and horizontal example with closer match with regard to their annual power output. Then, the examples would be more fair. Thanks for your efforts though.
Please give your mail id sir . I am ph.d student working in vawt
Everything is made in China, buy expensive or cheaper ones but the results are the same .
DEAR FRIENDS I AM FROM PERU I AM LOOKING FOR A HORIZONTAL WIND MILL ABOUT 5KWS MY QUESTION IS WHAT IS THE BRAND THAT YOU CAN RECOMEND TO ME? THANK TO YOU FOR YOUR RESPONSE
Great work, brother. Thank you 🙏
I am also interested in how long each wind turbine will last before they become land fill.
Based on my calculations, even if I lived right on the coast and the wind blew all the time, based on my current power bill, it would still take a minimum of 15 years to breakeven. Realistically, I don’t believe it ever would
One consideration that I find very much understated is in the comparison between horizontal and vertical wind mills, is the sheer footprint required for horizontal mills when you take anchoring and wiring into account. For our own location as an example, I can say we're in a consistently windy coastal area. Yet our property is in the vicinity of trees as well and space is limited. The vertical mills might generate less in a 1:1 comparison to an equal size horizontal mill, but considering the horizontal mill will require more turbulence free consistent winds, it would require height and potentially cutting down of some trees! For the same ground area with less height I can have multiple vertical mills instead with each a much smaller footprint on the property. So basically looking at the kW per square meter on a property for mill footprints.
Criteria number 1 wind storm survivability. Ability to repair slip ring brush burnout that verticle multi directional doesn't need
If you want yoy should get in Contact with me. And i can BLOW YOUR MIND with new Revolutionary wind turbine for the HOME. my idea is GOLDEN.
As a so-called "neutral expert", which court cases have you testified to? Or are you just full of it? Anyone can call themselves a "neutral expert".....
It's only 5 watts and blades 2 years
Another mistake is overestimating the wind. Consumer wind turbines have rated speed, often above 10 m/s. Unless your area gives much wind, a mistake of installing it would only produce a nearly useless amount of energy that you'd get per day - barely just for lighting purposes.
Yes. He said that ...
I’m sitting here asking myself why??? Why does it cost so much ?? How much does it cost to produce a turbine and accessories?
Thanks for this information. I'm fed up with all the other channels with stupid thumbnails with random numbers in them, like "740% wind power!" and the video is poorly narrated by AI and filled with irrelevant stock footage.
There is a lot of room for adjusting the height and width ratio of the trusses and sails. I think it is best to look around and even do your own experiments. It is an open field and the more the merrier. Watching a video of lab wind tests it seems that cylinder sails capped with discs cut into small fins not only is the most efficient but doesn't require starter blades
We got 9000 kwh from the ds3000 in southwest minnesota. Almost 4x what is rated at.
I am more interested in the high wind speed servivbility as we're i am i had 2 die & i know of 3 small to medium industrial wind generators that have died due to high wind speeds. Also if thay servive will thay still produce any electricity at higher wind speeds.
30 000 USD? OMG it will never be profitable and probably would need a repair in 5 year
many thanks
Very true and neutral explanation
Maybe off topic slightly, but in the early 1980s I stayed in an off grid rural shack that had a couple of car batteries 12v fed trickle charge by a small wind turbine. This powered a somewhat function, if gloomy low voltage home light system and a portable TV set (B&W). The thing is we never ran out of power for 2 of us. It occurred to me the technology for this set up (minus the TV) must have been around since the 30s or 40s, but I cannot find much in the way of evidence this was in use back then. I guess most people used candles or kerosene lamps. Of course with advances in LED lighting our 1980s lighting system would be more effective. I’d imagine that the sort of set up in this YT video would leave our DIY “primitive” 1980s system in the dust.
very imformative thank you
Excellent video. Good eye opener for novices 👌😀
Hi, thank you for the video and Clearing a few things up. I am looking to add a Wind Turbine to a Solar Array for an RV for off Grid Camping. Do you have any recommendations for a Turbine to be Mounted at around 6 Meter Height.
Check out the RV You-Tube videos. They discuss wind turbines.
Is it advisable to use 1kw wind turbine without batteries and the inverter? Using the ac wave
39% more at which height? Are they tested at the same height? If I should to raise at 50 meters to get those 39% everything not obvious at all.
30k usd :) I would need 30 years to get the money back 🤣🤣🤣 provided I have wind every day
Not worth it in most places on earth.
What about very high wind speed areas & survivability every wind turbine in my area has died due to high wind speed except the extremely large commercial industrial. Inc large industrial ones.
There’s no such thing as one size fits all….some environments require different solutions.
You had me at "German!" Bravo! Cheers.
There must be better designs for low wind speed locations. Attached fabric sails, like the old- fashioned windmills used for milling? More blades? What to do in high winds?
