Transform Vintage Recordings into an Electro Swing Remix in Logic Pro
How to produce Electro Swing Remix in Logic Pro. Convert old jazz to electro swing.
Transform old recordings into electronic remixes using Logic Pro. I just recently learned how to analyze the track and make it follow the beat of the project. This way you can easily quantize midi-instruments and use audio loops to layer them into mixes.

I use looper a lot in my practice sessions. I've found out that it's really useful tool if you don't have a chance to play with other musicians so often. I prefer it over backing tracks since it helps you to practice rhythm. Creating loops as I go gives me nice live feeling and it's closer to on the spot improvisation than playing with backing tracks. How I learn jazz vocabulary

In this video I show my favorite application for slowing down the music so it can be easier to transcribe. By transcribing I mean just figuring out things by ear. In context of learning jazz it doesn't necessarily mean writing things down. The app I'm talking about is called Anytune, and it's available for Mac, iOS and android. This is not sponsored video. I'm just a huge fan of this software. ...
9 Blues lines from Barney Kessel

In this jazz guitar blues lesson I transcribe 9 blues licks from the great Barney Kessel. All lines are from recording of Billie Holiday from a song called They can't take that away from me (1957). These are simple blues lines but they are played with great feeling and there is much to be learned here. I did the transcription live in front of camera so you get to see the whole process. This video is about a ”brain hack” to change your time feel so you make it easier to play in fast tempos. i searched for how to convert old jazz to electro swing, and your video came up. its a really great tutorial and also love your minor swing video. well done
I'm happy to hear that! Thanks for commenting!
@@niilooikari7243 im one of the composers in a music project that is creating new songs in 1930s jazz style. now do it with two fingers!
@@darianvanderswag his time feel, at that speed of licks, w two fingers. Untoppable. Which you can’t say about many artists. Especially in music. And that’s not even what makes him the best. What makes him the best is his melody making and overall emotion
I need to use all my fingers. Guitar is hard enough that way 😄
Very nice Niilo, Django was magic!
Yes he truely was! Thank you for comment!
another great lesson. i like how you break down the phrases into sections. great job and thank you again.
Thanks for comment! I really appreciate the feedback. I’ll keep new lessons coming every now and then 😊
What’s crazy is that a lot of what django did he couldn’t have really been learning from anyone else. Unique guitar technique + folk trad + horn style jazz + etc, etc = magic. Truly new and to some extent still new now.
He was such an unique artist with unbelievable creativity. Yes he had his influences but the style he created was something new. It still sounds fresh to me. I really like classical music influences in his music alongside folkmusic, musette and swing.
good work
Thank you!
Watching this, I realise I've missed a whole lot of Django recordings, as I didn't hear this phrase in the ones I have. I'll now have a go at playing this. Thanks for posting!

Thank you!
Hi friend. Great analysis and explanation of this resources. Beautiful guitar, otherhand.
Hi! Great to see you! Yes, this guitar is a keeper! Thank you! :)
Self taught guitar players from early Blues to Jazz greats, Lonnie Johnson to Wes thought in terms of sound. Of course a musical ear, natural talent and practice help. I spent one afternoon with Mario Maccaferri in the Bronx (early 80s) He never met Django but called him a "miracle of Nature" and cited Ida Presti whom he taught as a child ,saying she played any new phrases on the spot. She learned theory of course, but she also was a natural.
Thanks for this comment sharing this story! It’s inspiring to think of all these greats focusing on sound and feel first. Maccaferri’s 'miracle of Nature' description of Django feels spot on. For some reason I have never heard of Ida Presti. Just listened to her recording for the first time. Astonishing player!
Fantastic!!!
Thank you!

yesssss - amazing techniques by the great DR. Have you been to the Fontainebleau Festival and especially Samoreau camp sessions? That is such an amazing place to go and pickup a motivation and inspiration boost for those who love this music.
@@67er_matze97 yes! I try to go there every year. Visiting festival few years ago was the reason why I wanted to really start learning this genre. Such an amazing place indeed!
Honestly really impressive solo, big bag of licks well used, good balance. And your rhythm is actually quite good too. I don’t even want to give constructive criticism (cause you’re really good) is that your notes don’t ring out fully at times.
@@RootinrPootine Thank you for nice comment! Still so much things to practice and learn. Thanks for pointing out the ringing of notes.
@@niilooikari7243 your welcome. I mean it, I’m stocked you can play this well. Very impressive. Perfect tone is no doubt devilishly hard to achieve. Advanced. Powerful clean rest strokes perfectly synchronized with your right hand… idk it’s like magic when you hear it. Django’s touch was just beyond good. A lot of gypsy players good don’t get close. Yet, for example, It’s interesting to watch the young master Sam Farthing. When he was really young he could still handle advanced lines but the way he struck the notes wasn’t so powerful. Now you can see it clicked. Every note rings out and dynamics are always in play. Every note is controlled, not an ounce of slurring or dampening, strong vibrato. Very Clean and very Gypsy sounding. How does he do it!!??
@RootinrPootine Yeah the tone is sum of so many things. And perfect tone is always subjective… but Djangos touch for sure was a godly one. I also really like Sam’s tone. He truely is a young master and we can expect lots of great music from him. Much have been said about technique and there are some rules and patterns, and teacher always helps but… In the end it’s something everyone has to figure out by themselves. Like you said about Sam: something clicked and now he has this tone which is close to perfect for style that he plays. Fascinating… The study continues. Each of us play with our current technique. If worked hard enough and be lucky enough, it hopefully get’s better over time.😃
Jestas miten hyvä soundi! 😍 Ja soittaja myös.
Kiitos!
Unbeatable.... Humans need great practice to play this

I think it's great to use a looper to become aware of rhythmical issues while comping!
Yeah! It might be hard to hear those issues unless you record your playing. Looper is a great tool for that.
Do you ever use a looper in your practice sessions?
I will start after this one.
The chromatic slides are the hardest part for me and I’m used to very fast picking
