Please tell me where you got the mounting brackets. Thank you!
Here’s the link! www.amazon.com/dp/B0CG69P33T/ref=pe_386300_440135490_TE_simp_item_image
Lol, we took our suburban over it.
I just wanted to see how well the lights works. Wiring harness.... Not that interesting.
No. Black Bear is the most Dangerous. Schofield is the Deadliest.
Best video I’ve seen on this app, thank you. I kinda wish you would go on a deeper dive in another video!
Noted!
Where did you end up mounting the switch on the inside. I know you said that was not something you were a fan of. I feel the same way.
I have it in the slot where the factory locker buttons are supposed to be right now. My intentions were to dremel out a spot next to the buttons but I’m still undecided.
Thanks for the video and links. You are a life safer.
Can't wait for this trip!
You’re gonna love it!
They spank youbwith the wire harness lol
Can you adjust idle speed? Have a 2019 JL with 2.0 and the idle is always around 1500 for emissions when start up but hate sitting there for 90-120seconds till drops. Would love to get rid of that emissions rpm setting
So my experience is only with the JK, but I want to say no. You can temporarily raise the idle for winching, but you can’t modify any engine running parameters. I assume JScan purposely avoids anything that could tamper with emissions to start off the EPA’s radar
@Vex_Offroad damn I hate this high reving especially with aftermarket exhaust. Sounds like the jeep wants to take off and super annoying
4:44 stir the sauce
If you don’t think $70 is worth it for that harness, then make your own. It’s just some wire, a switch, a relay and some deutche connectors. 🤷♂️
Bro acts like his entire jeep isnt standard Chinesium.
Good point 😂
Great video! I run a 21 jlu 4 door with RC 6 switch pod. Normally with my off road lights i just run the negatives and postive to each little slot and im good to go. Assuming since this is a 3 postion switch. Running low and high needing a rocker switch that will match my RC 6 wouldnt work would it?
Thanks! So the thing to watch out for is powering both the high and low circuits at the same time. I know the switchpros system can be programmed to only power one circuit at a time but I’m not sure about the RC one. You could probably get crazy with relays and set up a “nand” gate, but it’s probably just easier to buy the harness 😂
Thank you for this...! I don't need these lights as much for distance, as the side shooters. I wonder if aiming them a bit apart would give me the desired effect. Either way, great informative video...! Thank yoy.
Thank you! And I’m sure they definitely would! I was surprised with the amount of side light they produce!
These lights look great. Thanks for the review. I believe these would look great on my 48 ford super deluxe. Or I could put them on my wife's jeep for a mother's day / birthday surprise.
Not a bad idea!
Wish they made the spread a bit wider
I agree
The rock lights look great. How do you think they would look like on the bottom of a camper? Do you have a link to purchase.
Link in the description!
How can someone determine what their axle ratio should be set at? Thanks!
Have you changed gears/axles?
@@Vex_Offroad I haven't but I bought the jeep used and it was already lifted, has 35" tires and some other mods so I'm not sure if the previous owner made any changes to the gears/axles unfortunately.
@@travisyuga if everything is behaving normally (shifting properly if it’s an automatic) I wouldn’t touch anything. On the JScan you should be able to go into the adaptation for the gear ratio and see what’s programmed in if the previous owner has changed them.
@@Vex_Offroad yes, everything is behaving normally so I will take your advice and just leave it alone. Thanks for your time and help!!
Nice lights! Might pick up a set for my JK. And finally another appearance by Big Lew!!!
😂
I already have pods/wiring done. I'm assuming i will not be able to use the wiring harness i currently have because of the high/low feature of the switch theirs come with. Is that correct?
Yeah I’d say if you have no way of preventing both leads being powered at the same time you should just wire it to the high beam. I know the SwitchPro’s can be programmed to act as a 3 pole switch, but idk about others. I believe there’s also a way to do it with relays, but that’s above my pay grade lol.

What’s confusing me is your steering wheel going left when you unload the suspension. It kinda looks like your front driver climbs first and if so, that could explain a lot. You might want to take a step back and look at how the entire rig is moving. Compression/rebound could be goofy and you should be sure both front and rear track bar pivot planes are even. Lack of a rear sway bar can even make the frame twist over soft suspension during acceleration. I’m just thinking you may have one or more other things going on here. As good as you seem to have your track/steering dialed now, it doesn’t reason that it should be that bad still.
The way the suspension is set up in the rear right now I do have a lot of anti-squat. That’s why you see the front rise so much. And with 12” coilovers, that pretty much just comes with the territory. And I agree, soft suspension is definitely playing a big roll in the overall handling. But the goal however was to fix that steering wheel turn as the front end lifts because the bump steering it causes makes the steering unpredictable and darty. If in a perfect world I could make the drag link and track bar exactly the same length and plane, the steering wheel would stay dead straight as the suspension cycles. So in the end what you see in the video was as close as we could realistically get to that goal. It’s not perfect still, and obviously doesn’t handle like a race car, but it’s much better than it was and doesn’t pull all over the road with every bump anymore.
Does one wiring harness go to both lights? I would love to pick up a set of these but I'm far from an electrician so this needs to be idiot proof. haha I have an spod and an empty spot for these so I'm assuming it just plugs right in? I have my fog lights set to come on when the vehicle is in Drive and would love to do the same with these so they all come on at the same time. Do you know if that's possible somehow?
Yes the harness runs to both fog lights and is plug and play. The only “wiring” you have to do is attaching the red and black to the battery and tapping into whatever circuit you want for the amber glow. I used a fuse tap on a circuit in the fuse box that is only powered when the key is on. As far as having them come on when you’re in drive… I’m not 100% use that’s going to be possible. Since the JK lights use “pulse width modulation” it’s going to cause the relay to buzz and chatter, likely leading to an early failure. I even tried powering just the amber glow off the fog lamp circuit but was getting weird flickering and behavior. So running it off the SPOD or the harbor freight harness might be your best bet. Just be sure to read the instructions carefully because you have to make sure you don’t sent power to the high beam and low beam wires at the same time.
@@Vex_Offroad Appreciate this. Your rig looks good, too. We have a similar set up. Mine is a 2015 JKU with 40s with air lockers off a twin ARB compressor. I went by Harbor Fright earlier today to pick up a pair of those 6" lights but they only had one in stock so I guess I'll have to wait. Thanks again for the reply and good luck out there on the trail!
Same here with the JL but the wire harness is pretty descent. I like so far.
Honestly my only complaint with the harness is the price. Other than that it’s pretty decent!
They are decent lights but your thumbnail is rediculous. They are not in the BD class.
The thumbnail is a question, not a statement.
Ahh, fair enough.
Is that because BD paid $0.07 per LED and HF paid $0.05 per LED? It's all the same Chinese stuff just some people like to flex and spend more for the same LED.
Good information on trying to use the OEM wiring.
In case you missed it, there’s a voltage setting on JScan specifically for DRL’s. I have Rough Country headlights and they flickered on drl, but not since I maxed that voltage setting. Obviously my drl’s are now running as bright as full headlights, but that’s okay with me. You could get creative and tap the vehicle high beam and fog lights circuits and relay them into the individual functions of the off-road lights. With the 3-way switch you have, you could choose to turn each on independently without the vehicle switching or using the high beam and fog light stalk switches.
Unfortunately I cut that part out for time. But I tried changing the DRL voltage to 12 volts and still had the buzzing issue. Also I tried doing as you said by powering them off the fog and high beam circuits, however if you pull the stalk you can power both circuits at the same time. And for some reason I was still having flicker issues even if I tapped into power down stream of my anti-flicker box for my headlights.
Nice, not many of us 2doors out there!!
Definitely not!
Uh, won’t do much good aimed at the ground…
They’re aimed in the same spot as my headlights.
Clicked for lights, stayed to catch a glimpse of that bagged MS3 !
😂😂😂 if there’s enough interest in it I’d be more than happy to bring it into this channel
That’s mine! I’m his younger brother, planning on starting a channel of my own soon
Hi would you like to review some RGBIC headlights?
I don’t believe my viewers would be too interested in the headlights since they’re already aware I have Truck Lite LEDS. However, I do believe they would be interested in a set of rock lights. I could compare them to a set of oracle rock lights (that are terrible).
You could have used an Amazon harness for half the price work just the same
Most likely
You can use the factory light to trigger a relay to power the lights. I'm doing that on my JKU (2007). You have to be careful not to send power to the high and low beams at the same time though. It will fry the lights. You can also protect that using relays. Just double checked if you have fogs on and turn on the high beams the factory fogs turn off. BUT if you have the fog lights on and flash the high beams (pull stalk towards you) the highs AND fogs are on. That scenario would fry these lights.
I ended up cutting that part out unfortunately, but I tried that as well. Unfortunately it was making the relay buzz with the pwm. So it would have fried it pretty quick
@@Vex_Offroad what mounts did you use to attach then to your pull bar like that?
@@adrianpedregon8712just some cheapo tube mounts from Amazon!
I would make those the same link I don’t think it’s gonna make a world of difference but I think it has a little bit to contribute. He gotta remember how those work ones longer than the other. It’s probably gonna throw something off as well
I agree. It’s gotta make some sort of difference, but I don’t know what!
You’ll get that on these bigger jobs
Good stuff! Where's Big Lew?
Lew is what I’d consider a “fair weather friend.” He’s there for the wheeling, but conveniently absent when it comes time for maintenance.
No shame in stacking rocks, I did it when I wheeled Metal Masher in my stock Rubicon It was either stack rocks or turn around and not complete the trail
What trail is this? I'm in Staten Island
Just a local trail near me. If you’re ever in the area, hit me up on Instagram!
You missed the part where you cut up your hands and cuss a lot while trying to get to the security bypass cables in, the reason mine has been sitting on the workbench for over a year.
No bypass needed on the JK’s!
@@Vex_Offroad must be nice! That alone is worth keeping the JK forever 😂
@@Vex_Offroad do i need to bypass on wrangler rubicon jl 2021?
Do I need bypass for 2021 jeep wrangler unlimited sahara
Great tip, thanks!
I'm thinking should just find a JK to build up and wheel it instead of trading my KL Trailhawk for a daily driver wrangler.
If you have a spare funds I’d definitely recommend it. You can pick up an older jk for fairly cheap now. You can even find one built for a decent price.
