@@user-ge7qp4jq7z That’s because there was an old Morning Rush train #1501 I believe that ran from East Williston to Penn Station. The EMU trains can run up on the Oyster Bay Branch until East Williston only because the third rail ends just east of the Station I hope that helps!

@@Larry_P Didn't they used to have K5LA horns? Why did the LIRR replace them with louder horns? Why do they have horns louder than the ones on the M3s, M7s, and M9s? Why couldn't they just used the same horns on the Diesel Locomotives that the EMUs use? The horns on the Current Locomotives are more suitable for use on Intermodel freight trains like CSX.

Back when they were delivered into Service they had these older cast K5LAS that sounded very different than the K5LAS that some of the Locomotives have now. I am not sure they why replaced them with the K5LLS, K5LAS, K5LS, and K5LLAS. I know that the Long Island Railroad back in 2016 decided on Restricting most of their horns on the Dm30ac/De30ac Locomotives and that backfired greatly they got fined a lot of money per each horn that was Restricted they are loud because so people can hear them better cuz the Restricted Horns weren’t loud enough.

@@Larry_P So they go replace the old K5LA horns with the louder K5LLA horns used on many newer freight locomotives. Aren't those horns way louder than the RS2M horns used on the cab cars and EMUs?

From what I heard right is whenever one of the De30ac/Dm30ac locomotives horn something happens to it like it gets damaged, or starts to wear overtime they get replaced with a Brand new K5LLA horn out of the shops because they don’t make the K5LLS anymore

Oh wow that is very interesting thank you for sharing you're Story! Yea it is crazy how much the Mineola train station has changed. All of the crossings are now gone expect for the one around the curve heading up to the Oyster Bay branch. Also such a shame that the Nassau tower had to go as well it really symbolized Mineola train station for what it was. I hope to head back to Mineola again sometime in the future I would like to do a Evening Rush there.

Hello there Rob thanks for commenting on the video that is cool that you moved to Pennsylvania I have went on vacation there believe it was Dutch County and I visited the Strasburg Railroad while I was there it was a great experience defiantly a whole different life style than Long Island. Oh and also I went to Dutch Wonderland the amusement park to had a lot of fun on the rides and rode the train that brings you around the park. Yea I am very sad that they had to remove the crossing gates I miss all of the horn action over there but like you said I understand why they had to do it.

Hey Gregory yep they have been running the 7-8 car double engine sets on my branch a lot more since late January I believe but it hasn’t been happening as much as it used to lately. They are most likely moving equipment around or have an equipment shortage or finally what I was thinking is that they need an extra train for #14 on Fridays.

@@Larry_P yeap I guess they will continue to use the equipment then they should have been used it a lot in my opinion they should just use it a lot because those trains with that many cars don't run a lot

@@Larry_P I know I said this before but they should have been started using that much equipment since 2021 or 2019 but back then they didn't use it now they are using it now I guess times do change man If I do come to New York and I see They Using that much equipment then that my Golden Ticket to catch the 8 car sets and 2 local motives or 7 car sets it depends as long as I'm onboard a a train with double engine im good Heck I know the Cannonball Express train gonna run soon next month and everyone gonna catch it I mean I already know it runs from May Threw September I know the schedule of the Cannonball Express yeap 😎

I know right it does not make sense I am not sure why they don’t just put the extra 8 car set on train #44 which is from Penn Station to Speonk instead they only give that train 5 cars. They do sometimes give the train 6 cars and 2 locomotives as well sometimes but not all the time I believe

Yea it depends sometimes it can be 5 and sometimes it can be 6.

Hi yea there is third rail at those former crossings at Mineola the whole station got redone and the crossings at Main Street aren’t there any longer

Yea it happens all the time when I Railfann cars blow right through the grade crossings as soon as the gates go down and I see people walk under the crossing as well when the gates are down and even sometimes as the train is departing the station

The next stop after Locust Valley is Oyster Bay

Yep that is correct here is a little fun fact after Locust Valley there was another stop before Oyster Bay called Mill Neck however the station has shutdown years ago and is now a post office they still pass through there its very pretty over there

Hey Gregory hope all is well and thanks for watching man! Usually the most common reason they run Double Engines is due to when they have a cab car shortage so they just run a double ended set. Another reason I believe is in the winter they tend to run them in the winter a lot to something that has to do with the cab car as well but I am not so sure.
