Honestly, the whole Busted phenomenon: the band, their history, the sheer stardom they had in the early 2000s, it's just always been so fascinating to me. Despite growing up in America, and only really getting into them in 2016 when I watched the Thunderbirds movie, and later only really knowing them for Thunderbirds are Go and Air Hostess (still absolute pop punk gems in my opinion), I kind of moved on from them. I just kind of left and forgot them. But then recently as far back as 2020, I decided to listen to both those old tunes for nostalgia's sake, and it was there where I'm not gonna lie, I kinda felt glad (at the time) I got out of them. The songs were still nice and fun, but the cheeky, juvenile "boy band with guitars" definitely felt out of place with me at that time. Not to mention 2021 when I gave What I go to School for a spin and definitely (for lack of a better word) felt some hints of "cringe" listening to the lyrics (still a bop tho). But then I decided to give A Present for Everyone a spin the last day of summer vacation, and, while admittedly going on a bit too long, Jesus Christ, that album sold me on the band again. And honestly, since August, I'm probably more in love with Busted than ever. They're genuinely pretty good singers, they've got charm, the energy, and the feel. And the "Present" Era of late 2003-2004 was absolutely them in their heyday. The height of their popularity. No one but Charlie thought or maybe even wanted it to come to an end. As Matt said, he thought they'd just be Green Day and keep chugging forever. But of course, Charlie's creative differences and overall disillusionment to the whole "popstar" life gave in, and he decided to call it quits. For what it's worth, one thing I always admired about James and Matt is how they pretty much decided that there was no band without Charlie. Each of the trio was an asset to the band. There just simply was no band with one member leaving. And the fact that they decided to respect Charlie's decision and not hold anything really against is definitely admirable. Of course, now we arrive at where Busted is back, and quite frankly, it just feels "humbling" to say the least. It feels (to me at least) like a genuine, solid return. Charlie actually seems happy to be back, James and Matt seem to be doing better, and of course: the music is still great, and arguably better than before given the time passed and new freedoms the guys now have musically. It's definitely a different world in pop. music compared to when Busted were at their peak. I think you can definitely tell through the music that they really are just chillin' around and just actually having a good time making music. The whole Busted story just always intrigued me. And the drama between Charlie going on to solidify himself as an artist to be respected by and James and Matt's journeys in the near 10 years gap before the comeback really interested me. Personally, I don't have anything against the three of them, I really appreciate them, and I'm glad things turned out good in the end. But yeah, the insight into Charlie leaving and just kind of neglecting James and Matt while they ended up kind of worse off is kind of somber in a way. Son of Dork never really went anywhere for James, and yeah, Matt's substance and addictions were pretty sad, and I really do hope he's doing better. But with all that said, I guess, on a much lighter note, it does make going back to songs like "Meet you there" feel more bittersweet and have even more emotional weight behind them. A break-up that was pretty messy, and sad, but you still have some glimmers of hope that maybe we'll all find reconciliation. And well, now they're back together. (ya might as well forget her, so looking baaack (sorry couldn't resist)=).

Ollie Fletcher There wouldn't even be a Fightstar if it wasn't for Matt and James. That's the only reason they got famous, it was because people in the music industry knew he was from Busted but Matt and James are better off without a user anyway that forgets where he came from.

Well you never know fightstar could of gotten famous without busted and don't say "well they wouldn't" because you don't know that for sure and fightstar are way better because they don't play the same genre while busted does and that's why I like fightstar more

Playbackjunkie Actually Fightstar had a hell of a hard time starting up and were shunned because he was the kid from busted... Him being a part of Busted actually hurt his career with Fightstar, not benefited it. Plus, you realise Charile is from a family of musicians and has a long family history of famous musicians right? Saying there wouldn't be a Fightstar if he hadn't been in Busted is hilarious. There would have been a Fightstar ALOT sooner if he hadn't been in Busted.

Fightstar (Charlie's band) have been doing pretty well together and have released 3 albums. They're currently on hiatus but are planning to reform in 2014 to work on their fourth record

well maybe he left busted to form a band because he wanted to make music he was passionate about instead of just being famous and popular

Yeah i understand why charlie left and the same with you as you cant carry on if you don't love it as Kurt Cobain for example he said before he committed suicide that he didn't love it anymore and it was better for him as well as his fans because he cant fake it for any longer...I would hate for anyone to get to the same stage because they felt like they couldn't leave or whatever so in all you and charlie have done the right the in the long run although it might be hard now.
