Everyday when I came home from high school - I turned off my main bedroom light, put on my fairy lights and listened to both albums without fail. I did this everyday. Now it’s 2023 and they’ve toured a bunch of times again and released 2 more albums and now back to do even more! Dreams come true 🥲
Yeah Busted are back and McBusted happened but look at poors James' face. You can tell his dream is and was peforming and writing songs and at that time his world just changed rapidly
I love that Busted are back, but there’s part of me that will probably always feel conflicted over Charlie’s decision to break up the band, I get that he wanted to go in a different direction but to know that for two years he led a double life going behind Matt and James back makes me feel so uncomfortable, Matt admitted that after Busted broke up he felt washed up, he was only 21 fgs and then turned to drink and drugs as a coping mechanism, of course I don’t blame Charlie for this but it upsets me that both Matt and James although both successful in their own right had to go through crap whilst Charlie was receiving critical acclaim, it proves what decent guys they are that they were able to not hold anything against Charlie
Honestly, the whole Busted phenomenon: the band, their history, the sheer stardom they had in the early 2000s, it's just always been so fascinating to me. Despite growing up in America, and only really getting into them in 2016 when I watched the Thunderbirds movie, and later only really knowing them for Thunderbirds are Go and Air Hostess (still absolute pop punk gems in my opinion), I kind of moved on from them. I just kind of left and forgot them. But then recently as far back as 2020, I decided to listen to both those old tunes for nostalgia's sake, and it was there where I'm not gonna lie, I kinda felt glad (at the time) I got out of them. The songs were still nice and fun, but the cheeky, juvenile "boy band with guitars" definitely felt out of place with me at that time. Not to mention 2021 when I gave What I go to School for a spin and definitely (for lack of a better word) felt some hints of "cringe" listening to the lyrics (still a bop tho). But then I decided to give A Present for Everyone a spin the last day of summer vacation, and, while admittedly going on a bit too long, Jesus Christ, that album sold me on the band again. And honestly, since August, I'm probably more in love with Busted than ever. They're genuinely pretty good singers, they've got charm, the energy, and the feel. And the "Present" Era of late 2003-2004 was absolutely them in their heyday. The height of their popularity. No one but Charlie thought or maybe even wanted it to come to an end. As Matt said, he thought they'd just be Green Day and keep chugging forever. But of course, Charlie's creative differences and overall disillusionment to the whole "popstar" life gave in, and he decided to call it quits. For what it's worth, one thing I always admired about James and Matt is how they pretty much decided that there was no band without Charlie. Each of the trio was an asset to the band. There just simply was no band with one member leaving. And the fact that they decided to respect Charlie's decision and not hold anything really against is definitely admirable. Of course, now we arrive at where Busted is back, and quite frankly, it just feels "humbling" to say the least. It feels (to me at least) like a genuine, solid return. Charlie actually seems happy to be back, James and Matt seem to be doing better, and of course: the music is still great, and arguably better than before given the time passed and new freedoms the guys now have musically. It's definitely a different world in pop. music compared to when Busted were at their peak. I think you can definitely tell through the music that they really are just chillin' around and just actually having a good time making music. The whole Busted story just always intrigued me. And the drama between Charlie going on to solidify himself as an artist to be respected by and James and Matt's journeys in the near 10 years gap before the comeback really interested me. Personally, I don't have anything against the three of them, I really appreciate them, and I'm glad things turned out good in the end. But yeah, the insight into Charlie leaving and just kind of neglecting James and Matt while they ended up kind of worse off is kind of somber in a way. Son of Dork never really went anywhere for James, and yeah, Matt's substance and addictions were pretty sad, and I really do hope he's doing better. But with all that said, I guess, on a much lighter note, it does make going back to songs like "Meet you there" feel more bittersweet and have even more emotional weight behind them. A break-up that was pretty messy, and sad, but you still have some glimmers of hope that maybe we'll all find reconciliation. And well, now they're back together. (ya might as well forget her, so looking baaack (sorry couldn't resist)=).
I miss Busted, but this press conference led to Charlie being happy & looking back I couldn't wish for much more! It also led to Fightstar who are my favourite band & Charlie's solo career (: James & Matt are happy as well! Don't get me wrong, I love that Busted fans are still behind them & love them, but I wish Charlie got less grief. I've met him twice since & even now, 7 years on, he still gets abuse for leaving! Imagine how much that took out of him, must have been a difficult decision!! x

I was literally crushed when I found out. Busted meant so much to me and I'm not gonna lie, I was so angry at Charlie, perhaps I still am, I just don't understand why he would join the band if it's not his style. Thank god for McFly the newly formed band back then.

I was 8 when they split.. I cried my eyes out when my mum told me. They were ending.. But Mcfly has been going for 10 years now and i love Mcfly and I loved Busted still have their CDs and their music on my ipod!
I remember as a nine year old kid ( I think that how old I was ) listening to busted when they did that thunderbirds song for the movie in 2004, my dad told me as a kid they not together anymore but I carry on listening to them though the years they won’t together then stop when I was 16 because I got bored listening to the same thing then when mcbusted happened I was sharing it on my Facebook then got shock when Charlie was coming back to start busted again, it was unbelievable but it was a special memory of one of my favourite bands coming back together unknowingly.
The first time I saw this interview on UA-cam was in 2009 so I was old enough to know really well that they actually ended but I always iove them and with the jumping up and down with guitars 🎸 even though it was two guitars and bass but it a good look for a band to be named busted including their spiky and colour hairs.

@thechosen2010 Fightstar haven't been inactive for a couple of years, they put out a deluxe edition of their last record out last year, I saw them in September and they're getting together soon to start work on the next album. They took a brake so Charlie could do his solo album which is almost finished and should be out in summer. He's doing fine, he will never go back to Busted.
I still remember listening to Year 3000 in bed after watching this. Sadly one sentence was "Everybody bought our seventh album" and I know there'll never be a seventh album. LIARS!

Charlie formed fightstar near the end of Busted, and continued with that for a few years, then fightstar went on hiatus and Charlie is now doing some solo stuff which is pretty good.

I remember watching this when it came on and my heart sank in front of the television because they were my favourite band. I put all my Busted merch in a box and shoved it under the bed, then I cried. People also rubbed it in at school because they knew I loved them and that they were my favourite band. This is the moment when Charlie ripped apart my heart and ruined my childhood. :'( But I got over it and respect Charlie. It's very sad he kind of ruined Matt and James career though.

The difference is anyone who likes busted now only does so because of sentiment and nostalgia. They remember being a child who was subject to a lot of marketing tricks without realising. We still see this with one direction and bieber fans. Fightstar is actually about the music and creating pure art. Fightstar's music is skillful and meaningful whereas busted was pointless and talentless genericisms for little girls.

Charlie obviously didn't want to hurt James or Matt's feelings, but seriously if you were put in that situation, what could you do? He's pretty much trapped in a genre that isn't his thing and he's got the chance to do what he wants (I'd totally go for it). I remember watching this when it came on and my heart sank in front of the television because they were my favourite band. I put all my Busted merch in a box and shoved it under the bed, then I cried. People also rubbed it in at school because they knew I loved them and that they were my favourite band. This is the moment when Charlie ripped apart my heart and ruined my childhood. :'( But I got over it and respect Charlie. It's very sad he kind of ruined Matt and James career though.

I was just saying that they don't compare because everyone was saying that they're better, which i totally disagree with.
The difference is anyone who likes busted now only does so because of sentiment and nostalgia. They remember being a child who was subject to a lot of marketing tricks without realising. We still see this with one direction and bieber fans.
Fightstar is actually about the music and creating pure art. Fightstar's music is skillful and meaningful whereas busted was pointless and talentless genericisms for little girls.
Sorry but you are slightly wrong Busted was about the music and they wanted to break into the same market as Fightstar has done but because of their success, they got called a boy band. Busted has far too much talent for a boy band
Compare Busted to the style of All Time Low and the silliness of Blink 182

Charlie obviously didn't want to hurt James or Matt's feelings, but seriously if you were put in that situation, what could you do? He's pretty much trapped in a genre that isn't his thing and he's got the chance to do what he wants (I'd totally go for it). I'll bet if James & Matt were into the kind of stuff Fightstar is, Charlie wouldn't quit. It's annoying to see all these fans living in the past and hating on Charlie for following his heart.
I like the fact that charlie was late for that big dvd arena show, dunno where it was, cus he was rehearsing with fightstar
hey there fightstar's a great band.. and you can see charlie's real happy with what he's doin' now.. he's just tired of the pop world and nowhe's playin the music he really wants, and no one can stop him.. anyway busted was great..

Aaaw! Poor Charlie Simpson! He really seems nervous! But I'm a bit happy that they split, 'cause I don't really see how they had a future as a band together, though they were amazing together. I listen to Fightstar EVERY day, some days I listen to a lot of Son Of Dork, an occationally Matt Willis, so no harm done from my point of view!
Charlie was never happy in busted, sadly. But we'll always have the music and of course Mcfly, which may never had happened, if not for Busted.
matt and james are the only ones making something of themselves, matt won i'm a celebrity and is presenting on tv, james is launching a musical in the west end and wrote songs with tom from mcfly and charlie (the guy who quit to do something else) where is gone now?
and people complaining about Charlie need to grow up. Why would you want a musician you're a fan of to be doing something they can't be 100% into? and Charlie wrote a lot more than just Why and part of 3am.

am i the only one who understands charlie?! i think it was one of the greatest decisions he ever made?! I loved busted dont get me wrong, but fightstar and his new solo stuff are so much better and have made him the great man he is today :)

one thing ppl r saying Charlie was tired of the pop scene, thts not true thts not y he left Busted well obviously its cause of fightstar but he left because he wanted to pursue fightstar and thts it not because he wanted to be in fightstar and he didnt like being in pop music. i like fightstar i like busted more but im happy tht they all got on afterwards alright except for matt who went to rehab a few times, but after tht he got on fine.

That same day Charlie went to play a gig with fightstar. He has never talked to James since. :-(
And now they're back with two more albums!

Oh! I guess Busted were very popular in UK, weren't they? I knew about Busted due to Mcfly just about 7 months ago.(Busted and Mcfly aren't popular in our country) But I Liked them and their music so much! Then in some days I knew that they broke up in 2005! I was shocked! It was really good band!And now I can see how it was.. It's a sad video. I wish they were together...
