Lighthouse Photography...in a storm.
I spent two days (well, a sunset, and the following sunrise) at Crisp Point Lighthouse on Lake Superior. If you've never been to Crisp Point, let me warn you, leave the Harley and the Fiat at home. To access to the lighthouse, you will need to travel nearly 20 miles (one way) of rough dirt road that had me down to 5-10mph for much of it.
Several of the images in this video were created using the Lensbaby Sweet 80. If the sweet spot of focus is an aesthetic that is appealing to you, check out the Lensbaby website here: www.lensbaby.com
This was a great trip that yielded more great photographs than I anticipated, and I only shared about half of the keepers here. Had I shared them all, this video would nearly be a feature film.

Long Exposure Photography at Whitefish Point

Short video this week. I was having such a blast with the photography, I nearly forgot to record video. Frankly, I don't count that as a bad thing, apart from not having much to share with y'all. I do apologize for being remiss in regular uploads. I have spent plenty of time afield with the camera, but I have also been attending to other obligations. Discovering a passion for Long Exposure Photography with my Canon 6D MkII

As a combat veteran living with PTSD, photography is my therapy. It is my creative outlet. It is the manner in which I meditate. After my surgery, I spent a lot of time in bed unable to engage the world with my camera. So, I did the next best thing, and I watched A LOT of landscape photography videos on UA-cam. A pattern emerged and I realized that I was gravitating towards certain photographer...
Landscape photography on a motorcycle: 220 miles and 5 lighthouses.

In the end, I ended up paying for the frivolity of getting on my Harley so soon after heart surgery, but I absolutely do not regret it one tiny little bit. Spoiler alert; I didn't make all of the light houses in a single day, but that ended up being a good thing as the last lighthouse enjoyed "good" photography weather when I got to it.
Don't let social media be your reality.

The poison of social media will have you believing that if you aren't cranking out dozens of portfolio quality images every week, you're an utter disgrace as a photographers. For me, personally, the lion's share of what I create never sees the light of day. My indi...

Well, 30 plus years of treating my body like an amusement park has finally caught up to me. On April 15 at 0500 Eastern Time (US), I'll be having double cardiac bypass surgery. Henry Turner is full of $h!t!

Plot twist: Henry Turner @HenryTurnerphoto is NOT full of shit. He is one of my favorite photographers on UA-cam. He is absolutely correct regarding the versatility and speed of use of a zoom lens. I'm just riding his coat tails in my attempt to illustrate how a prime lens can be useful to a landscape photographer. See Henry's "hate filled rant" against prime lenses here: ua-cam.com/video/dIxQN...
Upgrading to the K&F Concepts X-Pro square filter system

For years I've wanted a square filter system, specifically to be able to use graduated/gradient neutral density filters. I stuck with my rusty trusty screw in filters because I just couldn't justify the expense. When I discovered the K&F concepts X-Pro system could be had for less than $300 USD, my inability to justify vanished like a wave in a long exposure photograph. This is not a sponsored ...

What a difference a day makes! Day one scouting trip to Waugoshance Point under "average" conditions. I didn't find the location to be terribly inspiring, but the next day, I just had this nagging feeling that I didn't give the location its due diligence. So, I guilt tripped myself into returning only to find an enormous fog bank covering the entire area.

Change the title to "Is Henry Turner Wrong About Primes?" and I might subscribe, but the current clickbait is not funny. Sorry! BTW, you appear to be conflating woodland photography with landscape photography but they are definitely different disciplines and styles. Then, having said Henry is wrong about primes for landscape, you then only use a prime to take a picture of a tree in a woodland scenario, not landscape, but then move back to zooms as soon as that single shot it taken! So much for primes! Other than that, I enjoyed the video. Keep them up, but please, change the title!

Absurdly poor choice of a title. And WHY? If you just wanted to "ride his coat tails" you could have easily titled this "Henry Turner Didn't Tell the Whole Story" or even "Henry Turner Got it Wrong". To use such a derogatory reference to another photographer for click bait then immediately claim that it's not really true leads me to question your judgement in general - including your photographic advise.
