    If that body filler stinks and uses a hardener to cure I can't imagine it being anything other than the same thing as Bondo. Polyester resin based product. Epoxy doesn't have a strong smell

    these campers are great but they are 1 or 2 thing tops ,as you will go stir crazy if try andstay in the m all day if its raining continuosly,, i think the doors need to as big as possible ,and a decent awning with clip on sides, these days the wight isnt important we put an electric hub motor wheel on 2 of the trailers 4 wheelsand mwhen it syced properly to the bikes throttle ,you cant even tel its therethey were 1000 watt 9 continent hub motors

    Very entertaining video. Folding is great. Nice concept with the kitchen accessible from inside and outside. During breaks no need to unfold. Maybe call it comfyfold? I built a bike camper called "Cup of coffee" from foam and bamboo. It has a cellar that can contain two boxes of beer. It weighs 42.6 kg. The drawbar is made of bamboo and is therefore very light. I am very proud .

    i like the idea, at least you can sit at a table in your design, i don't understand why people make them all look like mobile coffins, if i ever get round to this i'll be making one a 6ft tall person can stand up in. how people get changed or do anything in those coffin boxes is beyond me

    • @makestuffwithjohn
      @makestuffwithjohn 6 місяців тому

      Every creature comfort is a trade off in size and weight. Having the table and seat meant the camper would be slightly larger and heavier, but I don't regret that decision at all. The ability to sit up like a human to get dressed, and not having to crawl inside like a tent were important to me. I had to crouch a bit entering and exiting, but sitting upright was very comfortable. I didn't really miss being able to stand, since the bulk of my time would be spent outdoors anyway.

    as much as I liked the idea, the design and the build, I'll stay with my choice of using one of my tents, or my hammocks, or both...[a hammock can be a most comfortable ''sofa'' next to a tent...] a trailer behind my bike carries my freezer, my power station, and the solar and wind [secondary] options to recharge... thankfully there aren't any bears or bigfoot here in Australia... [not that a mini camper can protect me from that...] I still like the design and build though...

    I never collected a drop of solar power, but the battery kept up just fine anyway. I ran the cooler constantly for the first day and a half, the exhaust fan while I was sleeping, and played music at full volume in order to hear it outside. The foam really absorbs the sound. I put in a jack for external speakers because I thought that might be a problem. My frozen steak stayed nice and cold in the thermoelectric Paw Patrol cooler until dinner time the second day. And I used filtered pond water for drinking, cooking, and cleaning. Setup was quick and easy, and I slept like a baby. I wish I had brought back more footage. I had planned to get some towing and interior shots later, but that plan changed after "The Incident". The tablet "TV" doesn't appear in any shots because I was using it to film. The camper weighed in at about 100 pounds, with the grill, mess kit, entertainment center, cushions, awning and curtains packed inside. All the contents are still intact because they were stored in the lower galley section. The battery and solar panel add about another 10 pounds, but you wouldn't need them if you were staying at a campground with electric and ice.

    I use nylon screening over the phone and I used to see if there's a primary.You can get a super primer and and seal it all together.So that the nylon screw acts to reinforce the the foam and really

    Camper looks great, one question what size foam board did you used for the body thank you

    • @makestuffwithjohn
      @makestuffwithjohn 8 місяців тому

      I used 4 foot by 8 foot sheets of 2 inch thick foam because I wanted the rigidity it provides. 1.5 inches thick would probably do the trick, but I don't think it's available in that thickness. You would have to laminate 1 inch and 1/2 inch sheets together for that to work.

  • @josephdupont

    Use wooden. Scures on the foam before glueing.use screen to reinforce foam

      I finally have the two sections painted and married together. It's been a long slog, but everything seems to work as planned. I still need to construct the sofa/bed and a few other details. I'll be test driving it in a couple of days, and hope to take it camping in mid May. Stay tuned, and best of luck to everyone with your projects!

  • @makestuffwithjohn

    I've added a few dents from all the moving around and fitting things together. Not having enough space to work on both halves at once is not optimum. I decided to wait until final assembly to patch the dents and finish the caulking around the windows. Hopefully the weather will be warmer by then, and I can fuss about the details outdoors. Was not sure what to do about the floor, so I painted it for now. Vinyl tiles were going to be too heavy. I picked up some much lighter rolled linoleum that should work well.

    nice build, but I'm not into ''mini campers''... I use the same trailer you do, just to carry stuff... a bigger [2.000 w/h] solar generator, a wind turbine as alternative source, and a 35lt freezer... making ice I can keep fresh veg in a soft padded bag, and having the extra power I can charge power tools [a small chainsaw for example] a tent or a hammock will be my choice of shelter...

    • @makestuffwithjohn
      @makestuffwithjohn 10 місяців тому

      I have done tent, hammock, and even slept in my pack raft. Double track trailer, single track trailer or no trailer at all, and just load the panniers with ultralight gear. It's all good, and I will continue to use that gear depending on the situation. The camper is more of an all in one glamping solution. No matter where I sleep, I always bring my Eno hammock just for a place to chill. Love your wind turbine idea.
