Restoration of a 100-year-old Japanese riding lantern
This is a restoration of a Japanese horse riding lantern from about 100 years ago. These lanterns were used by samurai when they rode horses at night. I bought it at an antique market in Japan. This was my first time trying to make a lantern fire bag, and I managed to make it quite well.
I would like to try a new restoration again.
Thank you for watching.

Restoring a rusted Zero fighter padlock from the 1940s without the key
Переглядів 6092 місяці тому
This is a restoration of a rusted Zero fighter padlock from the 1940s without the key. I was worried whether I would be able to make the key, but I made the model first and then the real version. I used SUS303 as the material for the clasp, but it was too hard so I had a hard time securing it. The hook and keyhole should have been plated, but I don't have the skills to do so and would like to t...
Restoration of manual hair clippers 80 years ago
Переглядів 2 тис.2 роки тому
This time I repaired an 80-year-old manual hair clipper that I bought in the antique market. It was quite rusty, so I had a hard time removing the rust. Rust was removed from the spring part carefully so as not to scrape the spring too much. It was necessary to sharpen the entire blade horizontally in consideration of the meshing of the blades. For this reason, I sharpened it with my palm to ev...
Manually restore the rusty barber's razor.

I tried to manually restore the rusty barber razor that was used in Japan a long time ago. I attached a new handle to this razor. The material of the handle is hard wood, and it took a lot of time to make the handle. I used an impact driver only to drill holes in the handle and razor. I want to shave my beard with this razor from now on. Thank you for watching.
Restoring a rusted Japanese sword 150 years ago
Переглядів 1,1 млн3 роки тому
I restored a rusted Japanese sword 150 years ago. This Japanese sword was used by "Samurai". First, the rough rust was removed with a # 240 whetstone. Next, I sharpened the Japanese sword in the order of # 320 → # 1000 → # 2000 → # 5000 → # 8000. The Japanese sword was too bright, so I applied "haze" with abrasive powder. I made the scabbard and handle by hand. I didn't apply wax to leave the s...
Manually restore a rusted hammer

I tried to repair the rusted hammer by hand. The rotten handle was removed using an electric drill, but the rest is all manual. After removing the rust with the rust remover, the rust was completely removed with a metal file. In order to smooth the surface of the hammer, sandpaper was applied in the order of # 80 → # 150 → # 400 → # 800 → # 1500 → # 2000. The handle of the hammer was made by cu...

I tried to restore the rusty Japanese kitchen knife I bought in the antique market. After the restoration, it became the best sharpness. First, I used a # 120 whetstone to flatten the knife surface and remove rust. Rust that could not be removed with a whetstone was removed with # 80 sandpaper. Next, sandpaper was applied in the order of # 240 → # 400 → # 1000 to make the knife glossy. Next, fo...

Sanding off the rust destroying the Hamon. You could have used chemicals, that habaki is meant to be permanent as well. It should never have been left to degrade to this level everything about this poor wakazashis treatment has made is a husk of its former self. Letting it decay would’ve been a kinder death

You're ab idiot to remove rust from the tang!!!! The rust on the tang indicates the age of the sword; the darker the rust, the older the blade.
