Lola Rennt - Opening Credits
An artistically interesting, if somewhat of a stylistic patchwork quilt, opening credit sequence.

Interesting use of typography in an opening sequence.
both visually and musically one of the best pieces of cinema.
Love this movie, and bought the soundtrack.
Probably one of my favourite German indie film I’m glad to see it has a cult following even now
2:38 I am pretty sure that's where Jeff Lew inspired for Fighting Mood from Killer Bean lol, there is a part that sounds exactly same.
„Der Ball ist rund und das Spiel dauert 90 Minuten.“ Gleiche Wortwahl wie beim Intro von Lola Rennt. Gewollt?
Going to see this at the cinema on Sunday. Totally excited
The hunger lasts forever❤️Forever
And they built the whole house !
The Eliot quotation at the beginning is: "“We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time.” (from Little Gidding). The Herberger is "After the game is before the game."
I remember that time I showed that film to my friends and nobody was able to sit down during the first five minutes and just watch the prologue without gasp.
Such a brilliant movie
Man Probably fhe mosf mysterious species on our planet. A mystery of unanswered questions. Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going? How do we know what we fhink we know? Why do we believe anything at all? Countless questions in search of an answer...an answer thaf will give rise to a new quesfion...and the next answer will give rise to the next question and so on. But, in fhe end, isn't it always fhe same question? and always the same answer? The ball is round. The game lasts minutes. That's a fact. Everything else is pure theory. Here we go!
The scene with the swinging pendulum at 0:30 is very similar to the opening scene from the video game "Chrono Trigger" from 1995.
ストックトンのパポエルの家に置いてきた、本とビデオマーキュリックダンスは、誰が金に替えたかな?
Buying this film was one of the best choices my dad has ever made
This movie was crazy!
crazy good 🏃🏼♀️
0:21 CHRONO TRIGGER ?
I rented this movie on a blind rent and ended up loving it!❤📺
I love that the blind woman's name is written in braille. Genius!
Ha, I've never noticed that before. Well spotted! However, I don't think it's braille. In germany people can indicate their blindness by wearing a yellow armband with three black dots on it. So I think that's what they were refering to here.
@@billfroug Ah, I didn't know that! Thank you for teaching me! I love cool little tidbits of knowledge like that.
@@SomethingSomethingg You're welcome :-)
One of my favorite movies! There’s so much to unravel in every storyline! So much depth, I just love this movie!
Can't stop watching! Maybe the best self critical Movie ever. Thanks to Tom Tykwer
Tom Tykwer was and is a genuine breath of fresh air in the German film industry, an industry dominated by suited men interested only in appealing to focus-group-tested lowest-common-denominator morons with bland comedies, insipid romcoms, hollow romance films, kids' movies and condescendingly moralising war dramas.
They place those credits on every corner of the city!
It´s a great and amazing intro
Why hasn’t this movie come out on blu Ray it has been released on hd digitally I own the one disc superbit release
A masterpiece and brilliant film.
Marcellas money where gunnar is Chris mastro arid.not.love audience no silver tiles friends wanted no love grandmotjer
Fringe ripped this off hard.
Lars Rudolph ALMOST looks like Bill Hader.
Opening title design reminiscent of the best work of Saul Bass for Alfred Hitchcock. I also see a hint of Maurice Binder. Fantastic work. Huzzah.
1:31 "Mankind. Perhaps the most mysterious species of our planet. A mystery of open questions. Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going/heading to? From where do we know what to believe to believe? Why do we even believe anything at all? Countless questions that are searching for an answer. An answer, that pops up yet another question, and the next answer yet another question, and so on, and so on. Yet, at the end, isn't it the same question and - always again - the same answer?"
NorthSea 1981 “...The ball is round, the game lasts 90 minutes, that much is clear... Everything else is just THEORY!!” You forgot the most important bit!
Agree with NorthSea.... REAL football, not that hand-egg rubbish.
I've still yet to see a movie like Panic Room. It was so original to me. Visually the scenes made it original, the story itself was good too, but the scenes and acting transformed it.
If anyone wants to learn how to make titles like this using after effects, head on over to my channel and view my "flyover text" tutorial :)
Best intro ever
Still powerful and unique.
dont mean to sound like a broken record but they just dont make them like this anymore
Yes they do. You just have to look for them. They made plenty of crap "back then" that we simply forgot, making it seem like it was all good.
Well, to be fair they only made one movie ever like this. It was called Run Lola Run.
I just remember this intro through the intro of Enter the Void, so I wouldn't be so worried.
were you born in le wrong generation, Zev?
@@apullcan I was born in a generation when people had more creative ideas for scripts, plus studios were not afraid to experiment. Today, its either a bunch plotless CGI money grabs or boring sequels.

every time i put this movie to friends to see for the first time, they all get silend serious and excited
most people I know wouldn't like this movie.
it's brilliant
First time I saw this movie was when I was 12 years old, and my German teachers decided to take us to the cinemas in 1998, when it was shown for the first time (I am from Sweden myself). I remember that we didn't know what to make out of it, and we were like "wtf was that?", but it left a big impression on me, and I started trying to find it again a few years later.
forgot to add: still pretty much my favorites 5 minutes of film. of all time. fucking masterpiece.
Indeed
Reminds me North BY Northwest opening...
Can anyone recommend similar music?
check out stuff by Cosma, S.U.N. Project, and make sure to listen to some of the Scandanavians like Reefer Decree, or Logic Bomb. you might diggit.
Darude-Sandstorm
THANKS !!!!!!! :D
this whole scene was done with Lightwave 3D software
BRYSON MARI IS A NOOB
The most mainstream thriller movie from Mr. Fincher, but it's good.
I love this movie, its so unique!
This scene never gets old.
