I am the original owner of a 1976 Les Paul Standard (LPS) with many of the same components of your dad's Custom. It has the 3-piece maple neck, 5-piece headstock, T-Top pickups (I have verified this) and the pancake mahogany body. I love my LPS and it just sings. Heavy too, weighing in at 9 lbs., 7 ozs. Your article has got me thinking of who in my family I will give my LPS to when I am too old to play. I'm 68 years old and still playing in a band that features some my guitar work with the LPS. Thanks for sharing your story with us in UA-cam world. Stories like yours are such an encouragement that many can relate with.

Nice . You’ll find lots of mics may sound better than a 57 on snare - I have . Nothing wrong with the 57 it works well mostly . To my ears it’s a bit ‘boxy’ sometimes . Often tradition takes preference to innovation .

My parents are from the South side, and my Dad talked just like him. We’re Irish Catholic, Mom was an orphan and they were both raised by Nuns. I grew up on the North side, Antioch, Ingleside, Fox Lake, Waukegan. They were born in the 40s, Dad passed on. But this weekend all of the grandkids and of course me and my two brothers and sister are all doing a reunion in the Orlando St Cloud area for Mom’s 80th. I’m 52, based in the Tampa area. Worked construction my whole life, that’s a gift from Dad btw. I can see it in your Dad’s shoulders. You need a transmission dropped, a new set of head gaskets, rear main seal… he’s probably the guy to call. Unless you just want to buy new. He jams. Lucky you. 🍀 [edit] I also love those Victoria amps, they’re a recordists dream come true. Must be nice to be local. Another really good sound tech company I adore is Cranesong, up in Wisconsin. I have some Dave Hill mic pre’s outboard that really do the magic. Keep em coming Vic. Make some noise for us.

Love your playing, man. I typically go for the Slate FG red on my drum bus for glue compression. I usually have a infinity EQ before that for tone shaping. Then maybe mix in a little decapitator for saturation. Curious what you had going on at 13:22 ? Sounded real nice.
