How to Do the Moss Stitch
You need only to be able to do a chain and single crochet - making this beautiful moss stitch very beginner friendly. Sometimes referred to as the linen stitch, the moss stitch makes a lovely feeling, beautiful to look at fabric.

Flamingos rock. Awesome work 🦩
Beautiful
Thank you <3
We don’t have a ikia store where I live
We don't have one nearby either - but we have a container store not too far away so that was really helpful in doing my craft studio!
I’ve used them for decades. They’re all I use, I’ve never minded weaving in ends. The plastic might have molding ridges from manufacturing, I just take a fine nail file to perfect them. Also the best for when you want to split the thread into which you’re weaving.
Good idea re: fine nail file - I love these little needles!
Love the banner 😊 in the background, need to make myself one.
Thank you! When I made it, i intended to rotate banners with seasons but I loved this one so much I've just kept it up :)
Where can I find the light strips for under the shelves?
On Amazon! I just added them to the top of my craft studio supply list so you can find them easily amzn.to/4cUBjy9
I'm the opposite! Picking out colours is the hardest part of every project. I get into a paralysed indecisive mess. I now have just 5 pastel colours that I rotate, and then I'll sometimes use neutral greys, tans, creams etc for specific clothing items. Plus white, of course. It means everything I make matches. It can get a little dull sometimes tho. And if they ever stop making the colours I buy ... ... ... ☠️
I love the idea of everything matching / having a consistent look, though!
I just recently learned how to do moss stitch and it is fast considering it is single crochet
Yes, works up quickly and feels so nice!
"oh im not that good at crocheting" proceeds to make a beautiful bag
<3
Would love to see you demonstrate how to weave in all those loose ends and not adversely affect the pattern. I've never had success doing so unless I'm doing at least two rows of each color. Btw, love your blanket - good luck in winning a prize!
I used moss stitch for the first time as a border for a blanket I’m currently working on. Weaving in the ends didn’t affect the pattern. If we were on facebook, i would show you pictures of what I am talking about.
Can I start with a chain 4 and slip to the first.
Yes, this will work the same!
I like the needles with the bent tips.
Those are good, too!
Those are based on beading needles! I used to used them all the time when I used to make jewelry. Great idea. Thank you!🤍
You know what, you're right! They are like the ends of the collapsable beading needles!
I love the tall drink container!!!
Enjoyed the video. I liked how you glued them for the stiffness. Good Video and Tutorial.
Thanks, Beverly!
Your book turned out so cute 🎉
I used an ice cream bucket or empty box or even a huge wooden salad bowl 😊
Agreed 👍
it looks good!!
Love that you document your projects. I mainly make cards and this year I’m doing a makes book so I have a record of all the cards and challenges I’ve completed. I’m loving it and have decided to go back and do one from the beginning of my journey. This has given me so much inspiration on how to do it. Thank you for sharing ❤
I love hearing that it inspired you! I love to look back on previous projects this way. So often we make things and then give them away but this lets us hold on to a little bit of it :)
I don’t know if you have this where you live, but where I live, the police departments are always looking for donations of any kind of stuffed animals. They keep several in their trunks for children that have just been in a fire, or other call that they go on. The fire department also keeps some on their trucks. Maybe there is something like that where you live. Here the premature baby ward here in the hospitals where I live want donations of hats, blankets, and small stuffed animals to put on and in with the babies. Just a thought.
Great ideas - I never thought of the police station or hospitals for little stuffies <3
soooooo agree about the tail gambling!! i weave my ends in INTENSELY, i'm pretty sure that my ends can't possibly come undone once i'm finished with them lol, if i'm spending 15+ hours on a projects then i'm gonna take the extra hour or two to properly weave in the ends :)
i learned the hard way to weave in the ends at the finish of a project cause when i would have to frog and it would not come undone 🤣
Exactly!
Thanks! I will get it.😊
Hope you like it!
Nice video! Glad I found you. I taught my daughter to crochet & we both hold our hooks differently. We love to crochet together, but you'd never know I taught her. What worked for me, didn't for her -- but she's a marvelous creator!! 🥰💕
I love that you crochet together - my oldest daughter and I crochet together as well (the youngest one isn't into it yet, but I say she will be with time) :)
I can’t stand these! They always snag
Really? Tell me more? Is it with a certain kind of yarn or all yarns? I've used these for a long time and have only experienced notable snagging when I use the largest one on really chunky yarn so I'm interested in your experience!
Wow! I have NEVER used a needle! I use a much smaller hook to pull ends in! If anyone has never done & tries it, let me know! Thanx! ❤✌️🤘
Yes I have used smaller hooks, but the needles is MUCH better!!
@@charlottebruce6841 Thanx Charlotte but am TRYING to picture it! Taking time to "thread" yarn thru needle vs sliding hook under stitches & pulling yarn end thru! Maybe I'm just too old to grasp the concept! I never knew there WAS another way! Hmm... So, you think I should TRY teaching this old dog a "new" trick? Taking callers now! Cast your votes! 👍 or 👎 on whether I can learn or not! 😉😊✌️❤️
i use to do a lot of commission work and started to loose my love of crochet then i made the decision to lets do this on my terms (i promise i getting to the point lol) so now i crochet whatever my little heart desires and give it away, i really love helping/blessing others and i dont have a bunch of finished crochet projects taking over my house, the one item i will NEVER do is those plush animal thingies, it aint for me
I love that approach - crochet what you want! I often think it would be great to make money crocheting but I never want to not love it / look at it as work, so for now, I just make things and blab on and on about crochet online :D
I bought a pack of these about a year ago. They are great. You can weave in either direction using the shortest thread. Never have to take a short tail and rethread it to weave it in.
Agree! they save me a ton of time.
I love mine...I've used mine for over a year now and haven't had a single one break! Well worth the money in my opinion! ❤
Same! I don't have them break on me but I definitely lose them all the time :D
first ????
Ty
Chain 1 then turn
I so needed to see this great idea😅 thank you for sharing ❤
Awesome, thanx a lot😊
Welcome!
They're really cute 🎉
I have that same 'washi shelf'. It's from Martha Stewart and is originally a spice rack.
oh my gosh - I looked it up and I'm so excited - I never would have know that! And to think that I paid less than $10 for it at a thrift store -- thank you for telling me!
I think it looks sooooo good with the washi on it.
I had one stamp pad leak when it was stored on its side.
ahhhh that would be a nightmare! So far, years into this, I haven't had that happen, thankfully because that sounds messy!
I can’t find the link for the work table. 😊
I have little scrap yarns left so i use it for stuffing but its slowly getting smaller so i decided to use my low quality scrap yarn 😅

So cute ❤
Oh my God I've never thought of using hair clips for the ends This is inspired!!
Yay, I'm glad :)
Wonderful space!
Thank you!
Okay, I make and sell accessories for both people and their hobbies. I recently added that style of hair clip to my shop. I am so adding pics of them being used on yarn balls, now! Thanks for the idea!
I'm so glad this was helpful!
im just starting so this is a great project! thank you
Welcome to crocheting!!
I love all the color when you go around the room! What a great space and its not too often that you see a room with paper crafts and yarn. You definitely made it work for you!!
Thank you so much!
I would get bored after 2 squares
TBH I kinda did :D :D :D
Thanks for your honesty and openness about not having a perfect room while creating/
