Habits That Allow You To Be More Focused and Present in Meetings
Sometimes, I feel you’re a philosopher.
Can you give 3/4 real life examples from work space / office - corporate jobs.
At 3.36 Shreyas went full Vedanta..
Hello Shreyas ..great content. I have sent you a message on linkedin. I m looking for advice within the PM space and would highly appreciate your response. Thank u Shreyas
I just watched a 7 minute video explaining you should prioritize features 🤦♂🤦♂ Worse is people in the comments going "Amazing" "Brilliant"
I agree high agency is largely the responsibility of the individual. High agency has been my MO through school, grad school and in the first 7 years of work. However, when you're up against senior mgmt who are known to be sexist - high agency will cost your sanity and wellness. Let's not excuse discrimination. Let's hold everyone to the same standard for decency and respect.
Just because you pay bills, have taxes, and have a family doesn’t mean you’re emotionally mature. Right on point. Plenty of older indian folk who got big egos and talk with a lot of immaturity
Just finished a professional coaching certification. This is basically the gist of the 50 hours training they provide.
You become what you think about. You become what you behold. Universal truths.
Reviewing my experiences, i’ve seen examples of what you shared. But i want to ask, can upper managers or supervisors look at other metrics to decide who delivers more value, and not get biased on the problem scope that people broadcast? What kind of works/projects in which u think this kind of move often takes place? Thank you.
Oh man, I have had this exact conversation with myself . Are these thoughts so common?
Hi Shreyas. Thanks for this video. How do you deal with a manager who is incompetent and is just going to tell you that no the 1:1 is useful time for me and let's keep doing these 1:1 or in my case I know my manager will say I am okay with whatever you propose. Essentially he or she doesn't want to deal with anything but I do want him to leave me alone.
Shreyas Doshi, I love most or almost all of your videos. But I found this one garbage
I thought it was just me. other than "knowing more about themselves and their clarity of thoughts" I could not connect one point to another.
Such an example of an accurate trap in product. Shreya - for those of us aspiring to be future founders what should be our focus? - impact for customers - impact of business - delivering/executing in a timely manner
Love it. 🤩❤️🤯
Peak self awareness.
Intersection of Kapil gupta & product management is Shreyas.
@shreyas love your concept of high agency. How do you identify this in a job interview?
The art changes the artist ❤ Enjoyed this video. Thanks so much for sharing 🎉
Not a feedback, an observation - you swear more in this video (than usual).
Love it so much when Shreyas curses 😂
Metric for Shreyas's videos: "Itna bhi sach nhi bolna tha" per minute
7:10 By living in a world of rationality and hardships, we love any moment of fantasy. Thats why bollywood heroes sell so much. 😬
Love how you approach coaching
Great video! Gold!
Great masterclass. Have my opinions on personality and ability for people to change, what you said gives me a lot of food for thought and great points all across. Loved the feedback vs. observation..
This is so good Shreyas! I love these 10-15 mins videos more than shorts because it allows for more depth and is not so time taking as a podcast. Having said that, any length of content including podcasts will be great because quality is so high in everything you put out :)
When are you going to start your podcast series?
Best case, Q4 2024.
It’s amazing that he diagnoses the problem correctly but entirely misses the elephant in the room when it comes to the solution - therapy.
thank you for sharing useful advice! Can you share an example Concise and Clearly VS non clear and concise? Thank you!
Love this!! To be highly successful as a Product Person, you must understand how human beings think and feel - so true!!
1. Competent 2. Srong urge to improve 3. Right Role for themselves 4. High Agency 5. Optimistic 6. Have Friend(s) at work 7. Satisficer
Please continue doing these. It is extremely helpful.
Very Helpful Thanks for the content
Thanks for sharing this framework shreyas will try to implement
Any example of how to effectively drive optics - regular status updates being one. Anything else ?
One more reason I have experienced is team trying to react to internal org politics. It comes under dysfunction environment point you mentioned, just wanted to specify.
This was the critical aspect of my challenge in my last role. Love the question to apply in the future: "Is there new information now that requires us to amend the strategy?" Thank you!
I noted that many of your videos aproach skills and perks related to management or management like roles, making them usefull for most of management positions, not only product related ones, this is great. The lenght of the videos and direct aproach to the subjects is excelent. I'm an enthusiast of product field, both because I like it and because it affects the results on engineering side of things, wich is my field. That being said, I wish there were a version of you for software engineering. Also, if you have some kind of perspective for good/bad interactions with engineering teams that you would like to share, I think it would be nice.
Thanx for spotting the problem i.e. "Most Adults are Babies". Can you please suggest a solution as well i.e. How to transition from "Adult Babies" to "Well Formed Adults"!!
Sounds a lot like the "makers schedule" concept by Paul Graham. Product strategy belongs in the makers schedule, not the manager's schedule.
Great to hear about the high leverage tasks. I didn't know about it
Awesome, jahapana tussi great ho !! had an epiphany. This fixes my days, weeks, months, quarters....
Any good resources that you would advise to get better at Optics ? Books /Courses
This is great. Thank you.
Love the Seinfeld/CYE tip!
This is great! Do you have similar tips for the next 30/60 days as well?
Hey Shreyas - can you make a video on how to build "trusting" teams and ensure you've hired secure people
Shreyas, nice video. What is your take about, whether EM and PM ahould report to the same manager? Is it a successful practice?
Great video.🎉 I have a small tip to add, don't go to meetings that don't have an agenda (if possible), or just say "no" to meetings that are not purposeful. I can't tell you the number of hours I used to spend on pointless meetings. You can only groom the backlog so much. Learn to identify the people that like to meet for the sake of wanting to look busy and avoid them if possible, lol 😆 loved your video and look forward to the next
