I agree high agency is largely the responsibility of the individual. High agency has been my MO through school, grad school and in the first 7 years of work. However, when you're up against senior mgmt who are known to be sexist - high agency will cost your sanity and wellness. Let's not excuse discrimination. Let's hold everyone to the same standard for decency and respect.

Just because you pay bills, have taxes, and have a family doesn’t mean you’re emotionally mature. Right on point. Plenty of older indian folk who got big egos and talk with a lot of immaturity

Reviewing my experiences, i’ve seen examples of what you shared. But i want to ask, can upper managers or supervisors look at other metrics to decide who delivers more value, and not get biased on the problem scope that people broadcast? What kind of works/projects in which u think this kind of move often takes place? Thank you.

Hi Shreyas. Thanks for this video. How do you deal with a manager who is incompetent and is just going to tell you that no the 1:1 is useful time for me and let's keep doing these 1:1 or in my case I know my manager will say I am okay with whatever you propose. Essentially he or she doesn't want to deal with anything but I do want him to leave me alone.

This is so good Shreyas! I love these 10-15 mins videos more than shorts because it allows for more depth and is not so time taking as a podcast. Having said that, any length of content including podcasts will be great because quality is so high in everything you put out :)

I noted that many of your videos aproach skills and perks related to management or management like roles, making them usefull for most of management positions, not only product related ones, this is great. The lenght of the videos and direct aproach to the subjects is excelent. I'm an enthusiast of product field, both because I like it and because it affects the results on engineering side of things, wich is my field. That being said, I wish there were a version of you for software engineering. Also, if you have some kind of perspective for good/bad interactions with engineering teams that you would like to share, I think it would be nice.

Great video.🎉 I have a small tip to add, don't go to meetings that don't have an agenda (if possible), or just say "no" to meetings that are not purposeful. I can't tell you the number of hours I used to spend on pointless meetings. You can only groom the backlog so much. Learn to identify the people that like to meet for the sake of wanting to look busy and avoid them if possible, lol 😆 loved your video and look forward to the next
