LG Dishwasher model LDT7797BM showing AE or OE error code fix.
LG LDT7797BM dishwasher issues. One possible reason you’re receiving an AE and or an OE error code. You can find tons of possible causes and fixes researching the model online but I never saw this cause or fix.
Hope it helps someone out there.

Your video legitimately saved me a bunch of time and money, and was so much more helpful than LG.
Is this also for a OE error? Drain pump replaced, will do a random cycle with no issues.. next time get the code with water build in unit. Pulled the drain hose and force drained the unit into a bucket and no issues can’t find any clogs on the drain line..
@@TheSponge945 it might, check the air gap assembly and see if there is some build up there.
@@JP-ky3lp I’ll have to. Cause I checked my drain line and it seems fine. Unit errored out this morning, now it’s doing a cycle just fine. My dishwasher is only 1.5 years old..
@@TheSponge945 sounds like the same behavior. I received the leak code that turned into OE (pump issue?). All due to the blockage which prevents the water from being removed from the system.
@@JP-ky3lp thanks dude. I’ll have to pull the washer back out and check this thing on the side. Maybe the original drain pump was fine and all it needed was a cleaning of this air gap..
4 years later. you are a life saver. Juggling Newborn Twins, a toddler and post partum wifey when this code popped... filter was clean, drain ( at the sink) was clear.. man... thank you
@@F1rebirdTA Glad that it helped out and congratulations on the twins!
Will this fix the OE code as well? For drainage
@@johngordon1977 it should.
👍🤠
All good and thank you but can you Explain how did you shoot that hot water inside the reservoir?
@@eintweihencrothen4502 flip the air gap upside down and slowly fill it up at the inlet of the pipe you disconnect. If needed you can use the sprayer on your sink to fill it.
@@JP-ky3lp Thanks, my model is not exactly like yours, I just can't flip it upside down. It has some pipes attached at the bottom, and not the 2 big ones like yours, but 3 more. I tried to tilt the dishwasher entirely upside down but the pipes that puts water off of it are too short. 😔 Thanks for the reply, you are very kind
Thank You!! I went directly to the assembly & had the same issue. After cleaning, dishwasher worked perfectly! Thank you again!!
Thank bro bless 😊
Great video. Had this exact issue tonight and was able to clear it up because of your video. Thanks brother!
Vertical , not horizontal
This is the main reason the LG diswasher gives the DE error it is not OE, it is drain error. That air gap assembly has a rubber valve that closes the door the top of that compartment is when there is residue built up the valve does not have to close and air escapes and the drain water does not go in high flow to the sink drain. You will hear a slow flow noise from the drain pump and and if you check the sink drain with a torch, you will see water flowing slowly, the diswasher will struggle to remove the water and after 3 attempts it will show DE in the display. Make sure you clean that rubber valve very well with detergent or alcaline drain unblocker. Once you feel. It is clean and moving freely and closing the compartment reinstall it and run a short cycle. More likely you will get the DE error again. YOU WILL NEED TO RUN THE SHIRT CYCLE WITH DISHWASHER CLEANER MORE TIMES, may be 3, 5 or 10 times until the water water and air in that assembly get stabilised and the diswasher complete the cycle. AFTER THAT IT WILL RUN PROPERLY. I had this issue 2 times before and know from experience how to fix it. The more likely cause of this issue is that the diswasher has not been cleaned for long time. CLEAN YOUR DISWASHER REGULARLY, USE A BOTTLE OF DISHWASHER CLEANER DESCALER AT LEAST EVERY 6 MONTHS OR LESS TO AVOID RESIDUE BUILT UP O THAT AIR GAP. ASSEMBLY
Starts at around 3:45. Thank you for making the video, I will try this fix.
Worked well... opened and cleaned it.. Thank you for sharing this video 👍👍👍👍👍 Please add more life hacks videos to your channel ❤❤❤
Thank you for posting this. I NEVER comment on UA-cam but this was a lifesaver for me on Father’s Day no less. Thank you.
You’re welcome and I hope your Father’s Day turned out excellent!
thank you so much my dude! you and your cats just solved an issue and made me look like a hero!
Thank you good sir! Also your cats are awesome!
Thank you very much. I did it and so far so good. Thanks a million
You’re a fantastic instructor!!!
I did all this work for few days and same error Comes up.any suggestions?
As I understand the part would need to be replaced at that point.
Excellent video. I followed your instructions, but I couldn't free the float. Any ideas on this stubborn float? Thanks
Others have used anything from boiling hot water, vinegar, dish soap and other ingredients to break it free. If you haven’t done it yet check the comments for what worked for others.
Can anyone tell me if the black float in that compartment is actually supposed to rotate 45 degrees? Like does it pivot on the anchor if it’s working correctly? Mine is all cleaned out but I don’t see it actually rotating or floating at all
It will not rotate but it will flap open and closed
Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video. I have the exact same model DW and the same problem, thank you for sharing it saved me big bucks.
I dont have an codes showing but I have the same dishwasher that doesnt always drain out the water. Ill have to look into this. Excellent video. Thank you!!
Man, thank you for all the time, frustration and money you just saved me.
I followed all of your steps earlier today, now I am washing a load. The blockages was exactly where you said it would be. You saved me money on repair costs and possibly buying another dishwasher. Thank you much- By the way, you were more help than LG :)
Has anyone determined a fix for this or do I have to just pull it off and clean it every year or two? Mine was clogged and it's not even 2 years old. I feel like it's just going to clog again and I will have to do this all over.
Based on what I found this will become a routine cleaning and in some cases you have to eventually replace the part.
Thanks from Saudi Arabia, I've implemented your instructions and the dishwasher works fine again 👌
Thanks awesome!
Thank you so much! You saved me so much money! We couldn’t run it for a week because of the AE code🤦♂️. Thank you for taking the time and making a great video! I got it working because of you!
I just subscribed because of this video 😊
Sir your advice and instructions were PERFECT 👍🏽 I have been looking at the debris in that chamber since yesterday wondering if that was culprit……you completely clarified that…….why you don’t have a UA-cam channel making millions is baffling…… 🙏🏾
Thanks good
Bro! You have no idea how much of a headache you saved me. Not to mention money. I once before called a repair man but he could figure it out. And still billed me! Thank you for this video.
Glad to help, thanks for the kind words!
Do you have any idea why the water won’t drain from the air gap assembly? We keep getting a E1 error code and we’ve cleaned it and ran water through it.
BOOM! Worked great! Ended up using boiling hot water and dish soap to get my vent clean, but point is this video saved me $$$$$. THANK YOU!!
Thank you so much sir. I was stumped as to how to fix this AE code. Appliance repair guys are booked out for months here, so i was trying to fix it myself. Mine was super clogged with grease. Took a while to clean out, but i got it eventually. Now im up and running!
Dude you seriously saved me hundreds!!!!!
I am having the same issue where even if you cut the power from the breaker the error code would not go away. I will clean the filters for the drain and check the side air chamber too.
this is why i love youtube. you rock, dude. fixed my issue!
Thank you. Worked like a charm!
Came back from vacation to an error. Found this was the problem and fixed it based on your explanation. Thank you for the help!!
I had this same code (ae). Made the machine level again,by adjusting the feet, fixed the problem. This has happened a few times now and levelling the dishwasher has worked twice so far.
Excellent advice.
I have to try that way. My drain line froze and didn't realize it use plunger it all went into dishwasher. After it flushed everything back into the sink that's when the ae code popped up. If there are any other suggestions I'll be glad to take them
Had the AE error on my LG dishwasher. Found this video to be very helpful diagnosing the problem. Took my time and used CLR to clean out the float chamber and very hot water. After reinstalling and pouring in hot water into the basin of the dishwasher I turned the power back on, and watched the water moving through the plastic valves. I then sponged out all the water in the basin and noticed the internal purge pump stopped cycling on and off, however the AE code was still present. Powered off the machine holding the power button and powered it back on, and the error was finally clear.
That was super helpful!
Yet another success story. Your video was the key to fixing my dishwasher. It's amazing that the troubleshooting steps from LG say nothing about this. Thank you so much!
So, so, so happy to find your video!! Thank you!
I had lots of fat build up too. Poured simple green inside and some hot water came out nice and clean….AE code went off going to try a load tonight
Thanks for the great video. It fixed my problem. Here is a tip for cleaning the mass. It is mostly biofilm bacteria, If you soak it in 90% isopropyl alcohol then expose it to a very bright or ultraviolet light source it will deteriorate a lot faster.
I have one same code. My back wall in the right and the right side of the cabinet in the rear wet. Not sure what the issue is yet. This is my 2nd lg with the same issue. Last one called a repair guy and couldn't duplicate it. Just threw it away
You are awesome. You just saved me so much more aggravation. Thank you
