Decided I didn’t want to pay for an atlas stone so I made one. Unlike all the other DIY builds I’ve seen on UA-cam, this one doesn’t need stupid and messy plaster of Paris or expensive atlas stone molds. This is definitely the easiest way to make your own atlas stone... eh, even if it did turn out a bit mis-shapen. Please leave any questions, comments or any advice in the comments. Now let’s ge...

These 4 runs/licks/patterns/sequences, or whatever you wanna call them, have been the 4 corner stones of my guitar playing for nearly 2 decades now. With the exception of fret tapping almost all my lead playing revolves around variations of these 4 patterns and right hand techniques. I’m completely self taught and when I started learning I had no guitar teacher and no UA-cam. Boohoo right?! How...

    Turned out very nice! However, I wonder how you managed to have the blance exactly right? Since it is a natural log, the geometric center might not actually be alligned with the center of balance...

    • @robinwilliamson95
      @robinwilliamson95 Рік тому

      Thanks man 👍 simple answer is… you’re absolutely right, it’s probably not perfectly balanced, plus it’s not possible to know if I removed exactly the same amount of material for the hand pockets. But because it was a telegraph pole it was milled really evenly and I measured really carefully, so it feels pretty evenly balanced in the hands. Still going strong though, you should give it a shot, great Saturday project. Thanks for watching 💪🏻

      @lk-ip1xs Рік тому

      @@robinwilliamson95 Thanks for the answer! I will consider my options, I thought about using a tree that has to be cut down anyways, but since that will not be already milled, I think I'd have a really hard time balancing it well...

    Hey. I just finished doing this build, but the spray foam on the threaded rod utterly failed. Curious to figure out what I did wrong. The pvc pipes weren’t on hard at all, and they pulled right off after 8 hours, and it’s wet inside, and it’s almost as if the foam just became a liquid. Thoughts?

    • @robinwilliamson95
      @robinwilliamson95 Рік тому

      🤔 No idea my friend, sounds like there was maybe something wrong with the expanding foam? I use mine regularly and I chuck it about, I’ve not had any problems so far. The expanding foam I used was, I suppose, what you’d call a “premium brand”, and it’s held up ok. Hope you manage to get it sorted.

    • @davidshaw8846
      @davidshaw8846 Рік тому

      @@robinwilliamson95 did you put the pvc on the rods, in position, then spray the foam down? That’s what the video looks like. I was worried that the foam may not reach the bottom because the tube it comes with isn’t that long, so I sprayed foam inside first, then put it over

    • @robinwilliamson95
      @robinwilliamson95 Рік тому

      The first way you mentioned, I put the pvc pipe over the rods so they were sitting in what would be the finished position, then I sprayed the foam into the gap. The expanding foam I used had a long nozzle that unfolds so i was able to reach right down into the gap between rod and pipe.

    • @davidshaw8846
      @davidshaw8846 Рік тому

      @@robinwilliamson95 Hmmm. I tried again with a new can of foam, it definitely filled just fine, but once again there's no airflow for the foam in the pipe, so it collapses in on itself because foam needs the airflow, so I'm not sure how it worked for you. I'm sure I'll find a different way to make load the plates. Thanks

    Good stuff. What kind of resin is that?

    • @robinwilliamson95
      @robinwilliamson95 Рік тому

      It’s called Anchor Bond. I’m in the UK so depending on where you are in world that specific product may or may not be available, but it’s just a cheap polyester resin mortar that designed for attaching metal in to masonry, I’m sure there will be something similar wherever you are.

    • @robinwilliamson95
      @robinwilliamson95 Рік тому

      Hey. That’s a difficult question to answer... but I’ll try. I periodise my training, so sometimes it’s heavy (3x3), sometimes it’s light (3x12) sometimes it’s heavy singles, sometimes I work my lifts in to giant sets to get more conditioning work done. Basically, I like to change it up every 2 or three months to keep it interesting so I don’t get bored.

    • @robinwilliamson95
      @robinwilliamson95 2 роки тому

      No, as long as you don’t over inflate the ball it’ll hold it’s shape. The duct tape stops it from collapsing. I tried it before with a ball that I over inflated and it did exactly what you thought would happen, it shrank and shrivelled and didn’t work. Put enough air in it to just inflate it, but without stretching it 👍
