The great part about kayak fishing is that even if the fishing isn’t good, you’re still kayaking! Sawyer always wants to pick something else, but we do end up having fun!
C-Tug R Conversion
Переглядів 1,3 тис.Рік тому
I've been struggling with a cart for my kayaks for as long as I've had kayaks. I bought the C-Tug a couple years ago and always felt like it was just ok. I made bunks to fit on my Old Town kayak better. Recently, I saw the C-Tug R and the conversion kit and decided to try it out!

Gotta take care of things to keep them running. Boats, cars, skills ... all of that needs attention.
Tried to fish, mostly drove!

Sawyer and I took advantage of the great weather and tried to catch some fish. We took some ultralight gear and tried to find some fish at a couple places. There's no actual fishing in this video because the fishing SUCKED! But, hanging out was awesome!

Bank Fishing 2022-12-02

Haven't done any fishing from the bank for a while. I only had an hour. Didn't catch a thing ... but I had fun!
Crescent High Chair
Переглядів 236Рік тому
I've been getting a lot of use out of the Old Town because of the pedal drive, but this LiteTackle is the kayak that I love. I almost always used it with the seat riser, which works fine, but the riser has a few issues. This new high chair is right in between and from my first sit ... it feels great!

Just me rambling about what I do and don't like in a kayak. Making plans. Sharing them ... don't hold me to any of these opinions either! :-D

Fish Finder on the Lite Tackle - Round 3
Thanks for your video. I have a Malone cart, but it doesn't fit my Crescent. I ordered the C-tug and it's on the way to me now. From your video, I see that it's not going to fit, but I can tell that the conversion kit will. The slots on my kayak bottom are 11" apart.
This is really adjustable. I have the big Malone cart, which works, but it's BIG and doesn't break down easily.
I got the cart and conversion kit put together. It works for my Crescent Ultimate--but barely. The setting for the rail supports is at the widest point. I will say that it does fit a lot better than any other cart that I've tried. Our friends in New Zealand have made a well-thought-out cart that's easy to disassemble for transport. Thankfully, there are a number of youtubes to aid in assembly. Were it not for this video, I would have never known about which cart to get so again, MANY THANKS!!!
@@shastastan1935 interesting. For my LiteTackle, they are about halfway out. I just frame the keel. I’ll check my UltraLite tomorrow. I don’t usually cart the UL.
Oldtown is the 106 or 120? Looked like a 106.
Sportsman 120 PDL. It's a great boat, but big and heavy! I'm kicking around getting a 106 to augment the two Crescents.
I will rewatch your reasons for selling it.
Nice! 👍
Rip was trying to figure out that transducer arm how to mount and you total skipped over it rip
I got this conversion kit for my Compass. Frequently have the cart fall over while trying to put the yak on while on the ramp. Will try it out in the morning. Would have been nice to have written directions. As usual, youtube saved the day.
It doesn't stay up the best, but I feel like it's the best function/weight/size/breakdown of any I've seen.
Thanks for the video. Very nice. Just one question…. What is to the left of the Tele, behind the Precision bass?
Hah! Good eye! It’s a Squier Bass VI! Really fun to play.
Hello! I got the exact setup but i am having hard time mounting the transducer. Is that a separate bracket for transducer?
I just used the one that came with the fish finder. I had to fiddle with the hardware a bit and make sure you use the rubber spacers.
4.8 MPH is quite impressive for a 10' kayak!
Hello father (I’m your child)
Hey all, I'm not sure what is going on with the Audio. It's slow and desyncs with the video. When you skip through the video it catches up.

Thinking about buying a Lite Tackle or Ck1 from Crescent. Are they easy to transport?
Overall, yes. the LT is 75 lbs. CK1 is 60 lbs! Their new Shoalie is 77 lbs. I keep my LT loaded with all my gear and transport in a Nissan Forntier with a bed extender. I use either a C-Tug or a Malone cart. I can pick up my kayak fully loaded, but it's a strain. That means3 plano boxes with lures, bag of soft plastics 3-8 rod/reels, small cooler, paddle, lights, pfd, ketch board, 6 lbs. anchor, paddle, etc. If I were buying today, and it was in the budget, I'd get the Shoalie. The layout matches up to how I fish perfectly. That said, I have no complaints with my LiteTackle.
I got me a closed cell waterproof thin workout mat and cut it to general shape of the seat riser. Keeps the seat quiet and from sliding around and was cheap.
Well it's a bummer to see this after ordering a unit. I hope I can counter balance by arranging other items in the yak. I have a pedal drive, so there won't be a paddle to get in the way.
I did separate them and put the battery on one side and the screen on the other. That did balance, but it was still in the way of my paddle stroke. This also depends on the kayak. I don't think my previous kayak (Big Fish 120) would have reacted the same. It's hull design was so much different.
I ordered the same, your video will help me a lot. Have you ever taken it out on the water? I wonder if it mess up the balance of the yak.
I did have to adjust it. I ended up not using the cellblock at all. I made a place to hang my battery in the in hull storage and added a mount for the graph in the middle of the kayak. The Switchblade still holds the transducer off the side.
Curious why you’re not using the cellblock? I’d guess it takes up too much room? Thanks
Looks like sailboat cove in LS! I just picked up a CK1 to fish out of this year. Maybe I’ll run into ya out there!
Nice 👍 this is what I was looking for. I have the same float and looking for a place to month the anchor wizard drop arm. I guess the bow is the only practical spot.
Hey! I did the same type of mounting but use one of the rear handles.
@@JacksonCountyKayakFishing nice! And it functions correctly?
@@darrellnielsen6303 yep! I just uploaded a video showing that setup. It is more reliable to nest into the chute and it’s easier for the way I transport my boat. I do prefer the way the front anchor positions me. For every day use, I’m leaving it on the rear. When I’m doing full day tournaments, I’ll move it to the front.
Not bad, especially with the seat riser. While I feel I can dig better with the riser, I feel slower especially with any wind since my body turns into a partial sail. Do you feel you're faster or slower without the seat riser?
I feel slower with the riser, but that might just be perception. I had part that I cut out where I liken it to a go kart. A go kart and 15 MPH feels fast whereas a truck at 15 MPF feels slow. I can definitely do a back to back with and without the riser. I feel the dig. I think the angle of the blade when on the riser feels like it bites more.
I just got my riser for the Crew and it doesn’t move at all. I think it’s because I have the deck pads. If this bothers you I would suggest getting the pads. They are awesome! Nice video.
Thanks! I’m eyeing the deck pads so that’s good to hear!
@@JacksonCountyKayakFishing deck pads definitely will change things for you
