Does this also work with Ollama?
Yes. But I have not tried it github.com/yetone/avante.nvim/issues/442
No AI huh
Hello…I am implementing the same thing u hv implemented in GCP but currently I am getting one issue “Expected each attachment to contain a content string”…. Even though I used toString(‘base64’)…Can you please help on this
where are the remaining parts Alex!
Awesome content man, I've been messing around with avante lately, but feature to use project files with '@codebase' is not working as intended, and that's kinda really bummer, have you got around to try that feature?
I havent tried it yet no. Dont see any documentation on how it works either. Ive struggled to understand what prompts avante is actually doing on my code. I worry that @codebase prompts would be quite large and therefore expensive. Also wonder how they decide about what to put in the context window if your project is quite large
I am going to do python programing with neovim, but my working is mostly relevant to AI development, and anaconda is a important tool of package management for me, is the neovim works well with anaconda
Sure, but I dont use anaconda anymore so I haven’t tried it. Im sure you can find resources online to help
Full Stack Data Science for the win!
😁
Hi , seems that your config file has "shrank" a bit in the meantime when i checked your github - is that correct? Do you still somewhere have that original config being used here in the vid? cheers
I still use obsidian in neovim exactly like this! You should be able to see all the config in my dotfiles repo on github
github.com/zazencodes/dotfiles/blob/main/nvim/lua/plugins/obsidian.lua
Hey Alex, have you tried using claude with avante? I used avante for a couple of days but the cost per message seemed high so i went back to cursor, i was spending about 2 cents between the input and output tokens, per question. :S
I think it adds your entire file as context so if its large then costs would be proportionally high - even for small tweaks on the code. I have tried claude yes. I would assume costs are the same - probably more than gpt-4o-mini but on par with 4o. Claude does work a bit better with avante Ive found
It’s good stuff I use it daily with sonnet. I tried to setup ollama but I failed. No big deal sonnet api costs pennies. I will watch your setup video your content is good.. and… I’m addicted to vi since around 1992
You're using a great ergo keyboard and at the same time the most uncomfortable mouse ever :)
Hahah- you know I always liked that mouse! I’m using a more ergonomic one now though
Another bomb! Avante is great
Really nice video on Avante.nvim. So far the best and most comprehensive I’ve seen. Very well done. 😊 Off topic: what monitor do you use? 😅
Thanks! Monitor is Dell 32 4K UHD Gaming Monitor - G3223Q. I like it but miss the contrast of my old VA panel.
Hey! Did you manage to try the auto suggestion feature? Thanks for the video, I'm also trying all AI coding tools available in neovim and Avante is def one of the most promising ones.
I’ve not tried it. The next thing I want to experiment with is the “ask project” feature (chat with multiple files as context).
Thank you!!!
Thanks, I’m glad you liked it
Open source and nvim is a win win
impressive setup, very nice. lets see paul allen's
I tried avante but for some reason the response does not get updated inside neovim, I know it should work because it consumes credits but the response does not comes through
There's no difference compared to gp.nvim? That's a disappointment
is GP nvim free? it do I have to pay for open ai API key?
@amqndin if you have a self hosted ai it's free but otherwise you need a key for anyone of the big providers
That’s cool
amazing mate ....
This is impressive. You're doing amazing, man. This changed everything for me. I really appreciate your videos on Obsidian and Neovim. Keep going!
Thank you!
how much do you pay a month for 4o mini credits, roughly?
it all depends how much you use it, you could easily rack up $1/day or more. I would add like $10 of credits and disable auto-recharge and see how far you get
😮😮
😤
Very interesting how this AI plug-in works in neovim! Definitely wanna try it
Yeah it's awesome - especially if you already work in neovim
debugger?
This was a bomb!
Nice! Thanks
So much value in just one hour! loved it, thanks Alex!
It’s great to hear feedback in the value of this video! Thank you
thanks for the great content let me try this with sonnet. for using 4o-mini how much does it spend approximately?
I typically put my virtual environments as .venv/ in the project dir, that way the local path is the same for all my projects
Thats cool, so you reference a relative path in your neovim config or something like that? I dont really understand. The way I do it now is to activate my virtual env first then open neovim.
Atm I just have a line in my zshrc that automatically enters a venv when the .venv folder is present in the cwd. I didn't know that you can directly configure the path for your LSP (like you did at 23:28). So made me think maybe its possible to just use a relative path in the config (./.venv)
The moment I saw him using the mouse, I closed the video. Thanks, but no thanks.
A really helpful video. Kudos!
Great video! Love all the deliberate mindfulness in your morning routine
What version of nvim you use with what personalización?
I’ve got a video you can watch for my neovim setup in 2024 - search “neovim zazencodes”
Since you are using pyright you can probably somehow tell nvim to look for config file pyrightconfig.json where you point to a venv path. So you can work on different projects in different environments.
And when one of them gets a small update, it can cause a breaking change that's incredibly hard to track down, and requires constant vigilance to maintain. Not to mention if the company running one of those services decides to not do that anymore....
ive been waiting for a video like this all my life
I'm still looking into obsidian and I'm sorry but the only thing I got from this is - use a text file and a good file system, nothing on why obsidian should be part of my note taking process. You read your notes in vim, you reference your notes in vim, you review your notes in vim, you basically only used obsidian as a markdown reader - at least in the context of this video. I know this video is about you showing your note taking workflow and not an advertisement for obsidian but I watched your video as reference on actual use cases with obsidian and so far, I don't think I would be using obsidian yet. The actual workflow seems good though and gave me some ideas for my own personal workflow.
mine is eat the same breakfast every day, water plants, shower, cycle commute, gym
Reaally good advice!!!
Thank you
thanks for sharing :) good Morning routine from France😄
Salut!
it's way too much work to achieve something as basic as this...
Thanks for effort, Man, But you make a tutorial for windows please
Hi Zazen, Thanks for sharing your routine! I did not know the 'labeling' approach :) I also like how you make your thinking about different things habitual :) It would be great to see how do you manage energy levels through the day especially after meals. I also work in tech and I know this may be challenging when sitting a lot.
Thanks for the feedback! Happy labeling! I’ve struggled with energy levels in the past, most notably the afternoon crash. Effective energy management is definitely a skill. I’d love to share what I’m doing now.
I’d check out uv, super fast and joyful to use
Great content! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
I've struggled with yaml so much, specially in the beginning. So I tried this approach of yours and it really helps. And this even works with the hydra package 😅 So, thank you for that!
This is that kind of moment that you think: "How I didn't think about this before!"
Arc'teryx shirt, VS code, runs htop to looky techy & proclaims data engineer... but clearly dude seek massive youtbe validation as a bougie analyst at best.
Damn you got me pinned
I've never saw videos like yours before 😮 Great insigths!
