    If he prioritized his inner child he could schedule time to go to the beach and play with the children in his family. He could plan his vacations so they met this need for himself and his family in the real world. Chances are the family all need it. Ongoing self love without guilt, for maintenance, can include and benefit the family.

    I know this is an old video... but is it weird that I had to stop watching the video when they started talking about the upset, scared little part...? Because it was too close to home and personal for my little part, Enari. :( We started crying.... A whole bunch of exchanges between my parts happened after that but yeah, might have to watch this demonstration some other time...

    What on earth is a gender unicorn? I agree there can be masculine and feminine energies but there are only 2 genders. It sounds like you would rather encourage people to be beautiful genderless unicorns and mutilate their bodies to fit in rather than actually address issues, traumas etc and help people heal. Watching this was really uncomfortable, like no-one wants to offend or get called transphobic. Also calling women cis is unnecessary, we know who we are and genuine trans women are women, they dont call us cis, its unnecessary.

    I’m crying. I think I have found the answer to my life struggles at the age of 51. I was bullied at School for being gay. I have a narcissistic Mother and my Father was an alcoholic. I trained as an Actor but then couldn’t cope with the feelings of rejection. Everyone was telling me how talented I was and asking me why I had given up on my dreams but I was so overwhelmed by just the thought of getting back into ‘The Business’ auditions, castings etc. I found comfort in alcohol from a young age but eventually it ravaged my whole being. I wanted to die. At the age of 40 I had a moment of clarity, picked the telephone for the first time in years and broke down on the phone to a rehab treatment centre. I got sober and have now been sober for almost 12 years. I’m sober yes, but still desperately unhappy. I procrastinate all the time, I’m generally unhappy and continually dream of being a working actor but I’m held back by so much fear. It’s got to the point where I feel like a total failure, worthless and depressed. I avoid social situations, I’m filled with resentment and jealousy of others and am starting to lose all hope after I went through therapy to help with childhood traumas. After seeing this video I can see how much this technique would work for me and it feels almost like the possible answer to my problems. Thank you for posting this, I’ll be looking for a local IFS trained therapist and will hopefully begin to heal myself. I’ll keep you updated. ☺️

      The spot identified with the pointer is the one that feels the most calm in whatever part of the body that the client stated felt calm or neutral. This is called the ‘Resource’ spot. (When using ‘Activated’ spot, the body part that is most distressed is identified and the spot chosen is the one where the distress is felt the strongest).

    Many thanks for this, I found it very interesting, helpful & Informative. My dad was very ill, and then passed away whilst my mum was pregnant with me. My mum was understandably depressed, and went on to be diagnosed with bipolar. I have been quite withdrawn, and had regular periods of depression throughout my life (I'm 58 now), I've read 4 books on IFS, and watched many videos on IFS by Dick Schwartz and other IFS practitioners, engaging a therapist is way beyond my means right now, but I feel that I'm making some progress. I had never thought of handing the burden back to my mother before watching this video - my mum has passed away now, so I believe she has been unburdened, so I believe she could take it back. Thanks again, I'm saving this video to watch again.

    Thank you very much indeed for your generosity in being willing to share sessions on different aspects of IFS. I really enjoyed the first session with who I now know is your husband. I live in Australia and am not yet an IFS trained person. I have had one Zoom session with a level 3 therapist trained by Dick Schwartz (Level 3) and am currently reading and working through two IFS books and viewing many therapy sessions online. May I ask a question (and I realise this video is a year old now). Imagining myself as a 4 or 5 year old child (and I clearly can remember myself at this age) I do not believe I would have any sophisticated mathematical concepts such as percentages at this young age. Can you comment please if you read this. This aspect is causing me to be hesitant about trusting. I trust IFS but have an issue with the detail here. Thank you.

      Hi, I'm a audio mixer and your recording is very poor. There are too many artifacts due to the distance from the recording audio device. I'm assuming it was recorded form an iPhone or other. The distance between the device and the subject is too far for the simple microphone that is in the iPhone. Regardless your video caught my attention and I had to replay the audio portion over and over at times to make out what was being said. I'm also guessing that many viewers gave up watching the video because of the poor audio. Nevertheless it was very educational. Thank you. @@empowermentaftertrauma7812

    I have been bouncing between Internal Family Systems and Bowen Family Systems. I can relate to both. I am also in ACA. What I like about IFS is that I can label a part without actually knowing what that part is. I have difficulty in ACA knowing my parts. The Bowen Family Systems shows why we get all the parts and then what approach to use in dealing with those parts. I do agree with Richard Schwartz about when we get good at this we become our own Therapist..

    I get why people get annoyed with this type of therapy. The therapists insist that any negative emotion is a “part” but any positive emotion is the “self”. I don’t know if I totally subscribe to this, but that’s why I’m really loving this upload! It’s way more realistic. If I only ever saw perfect IFS sessions, I would hate myself so much when my session is difficult. I love how he kept at it despite the difficulty, and how both therapists had patience. Edit: of course with it being a demo, its still staged but like, it is what it is

    • @fpalisse
      @fpalisse Рік тому

      I don't see it this way. I have an excited part (that gets carried away by things) and a part that is in love with my rebel part (that is really a manager). The Self is that non judgemental witness in meditation that can see thoughts and understands they are separate than self. Self is simply the witness. The witness can be understanding, compassionate, accepting without judgement, curious, and present. Positive emotions can def be parts, but may not be parts one feels the need to change unless there is some troubling aspect to the positive part - ie the people pleasing part and the overcompensator can feel burnt out.

    Although I would have used a different method and process to access the exile, the way she used indirect access to have the client interact with the old wound was wonderful.The third grader had so much to say and that's so significant. When he said, "he just needs time to play," I teared up. That's so powerful. I also love when the tool transformed into a clothespin and the job changed. That is true transformational change.
