Dancing flames on a Morso Squirrel stove
My workspace is close to my stove. It's a poor location for getting anything done. I sat down in front of my MacBook, listened to the wind howling outside and rain rattling against my portholes. Flickering flames and a swaying poker seduced me. I sat there slack-jawed and drooling for an hour.

Warning: If you want to wake one morning to discover that you're incapable of hard work or stressful thought, live afloat on England's inland waterways.

      Yes, I agree that I should have added more (some) videos to my narrowboat blog. I would have had some great content during my seven years on the English waterways. Half the problem is the mobile data required for video upload. I pay €50 a month for 15GB in the Netherlands and manage to use most of it with my day to day internet work. Having said that, I promise to try harder from now on!

    Very interesting, you have a nice boat. I'm cutting down on stuff at the moment and one way of saving space was by binning all my DVD covers and just putting the DVDs in paper sleeves. Saves quite a lot of shelf space.

    • @Originalsmoothie
      @Originalsmoothie 9 років тому

      That's not a bad way of doing it, and while you're at it, convert your music albums to digital and get yourself an eReader for your books.

      Paul Smith Yes I love my ereader! I very rarely buy books - I only have a. ones that look nice (old leatherbound ones that I inherited) and ones that are practical if for any reason the electrics fail - first aid, survival tips, maps etc.

    Good one Paul. Looks the business. I'm bursting to see the secondary glazing episode!? I simply couldn't stop laughing when I read your wows when fitting it. I've always found that sitting down with a cup of Coffee and studying it all for a while, even a day or two, before the 'attack' seems to work. But having said that it's all great fun and another feather in ones' cap. Happy Christmas by the way!!!

    Hi Chris... I can't comment directly to your comment because of inherent problems with the UA-cam comments system but hopefully you'll pick up my reply here. Yes, good idea about the insulation/secondary double glazing video. I'll do one over the next couple of days.

    Hi Paul, Really enjoyed looking at your video - a great start and I hope you'll do more. It was great to see your boat for the first time; I've been reading your newsletter for some time and it really helped me envisage your surroundings. Perhaps we could see your new door panels fitted next and see how your insulation projects have changed the damp problems

    • @HelenaMikas
      @HelenaMikas 10 років тому

      Paul Smith Thanks so much .I wondered but since you said 'this video ' and given UA-cam has been so odd of late it was best to ask ........

    • @Originalsmoothie
      @Originalsmoothie 10 років тому

      The "videos" I'm uploading at the moment are audio files of some of the more popular content I have on my site. It's an experiment. I have over 4,000 posts and pages on my site (livingonanarrowboat.co.uk) so converting the content into audio will be a rather time consuming task. I'll only do it if there's enough real interest. Can you tell me, did you find the content interesting?
