For the relics and curios part, I remembered the devs said that for shovel knight since both SoH and PoS happened at the same time, they wanted to emulated the player going back to explodatorium to fight plague knight with everything they got. But since you can't be in the position of spectre knight in king knight's campaign (I hope I worded this correctly to avoid confusion), it kinda suggest that curios are implemented to tell a timeline so theory do hold up in some way. The devs also said that for each campaign the main character's are the storyteller, they could add some lie to make themselves look cool. That's a good way to reach some conclusion to a timeline confusion, "maybe some things didn't actually happen". Both of these you can find on yacht club stream, I can't remember which one though sorry...

28:21 Actually, when you think about it, Plague Knight was more rigged than King Knight. Because Plague Knight campaign was said to basically be a backstory to Plague Knight, but of course that didn't happen, and given many like Plague Knight and possibly voted for him to know more about him (similar to Specter Knight, who won the poll), it's possible that Plague Knight wouldn't have got as many vote if the story was the same as what we got. But that's just a theory (plus Polar Knight got 7th place in the vote, so it wouldn't have matter as much)

The dialogue in the King knight fight in specter of torment shows that specter is not there to recruit him but to “get him back on schedule” meaning he’d actually been recruited a bit before you see him, meaning he could actually be anywhere on the timeline of knights recruited

It's worth noting that Dig features a bit of dialogue where the actual mole people that exist in the game question whether or not Mole Knight is actually a mole after he asks them about claw recommendations, further calling into question what he actually is under the armor.

About the fish head, Yacht Club has been very ambiguous on whether that's what Shovel Knight's head also looks like. He was included in Rivals of Aether despite all other characters in the game being animals, and he has a special taunt where his helmet falls off, revealing the fish head. Despite that, every time YCG has been straight up asked about it, they always respond with a maybe. For the cheat codes they eventually released an offical google doc listing every single code except for the arby's ones.
