I like them. they are sweet people.
I love your your approach and concept for plant selection, placement and watering. I’ve practiced all of those concepts for years wondering if I have been doing the right thing or not. Geographical locations from the LA Basin, to California deserts, California mountain elevations of 3000 feet, to Nevada elevations of 5000 ft and finally the Southern Utah desert range of 3000 feet with temperatures in the winter to freezing upwards of triple digits of over 100 days in the summer. Location, selection, watering and finally fertilizing make a big difference. But I have found that the biggest difference has been soil. I use worm castings, coffee grounds, miracle grow granular fertilizer, blood meal and bone meal. I get great results with that mixture in my fruit trees, landscape plants and trees, roses as well as cactus. There are failures to be certain. It is an on going experiment but that’s what makes it interesting and challenging. I stay away from native soil because it really is not soil but granulated rock. I try to plant shallow rooted drought tolerant plants and after fours years I have had great success with disappointing failures. Don’t stop trying. As Thomas Edison once said “I did not have 130 failures at designing a light bulb, I found 130 ways not to make a light bulb “.😂
Lovely place
Great job!!!
Moving to Mojave Desert come January and will be on cisterns for water. This was a super helpful video. I found that how Miriam “tests” plants hardiness, etc. should be a good way for us to go about landscaping our acre. I know plants will be different; different desert, different plants, but this system really appeals to me. Thanks for sharing! ❤
What kind of soap do you use? 🤔
Really gd advice. I’m in Oak Glen working on understanding what will grow here.
Hello, Laraine. I just saw your UA-cam Video. I really enjoyed the presentation on trees, water conservation, and planting various items. I live in the Hemet/Sage area of Riverside County. I am always experimenting with multiple trees, plants, and others that, once established, can take low-maintenance water. I suggest some California Pepper trees. Once they are based, they grow very fast and become delicious. Also, please look at Chinese Pistachio Trees, Silky Oaks, Pinus Eladricas, Allepo Pine trees, Silver Dollar Eucalyptus, or Mexican Fan palms. Again, I can't thank you enough for the wonderful video. I learned a lot. Blessings to you, your family, and all your trees and plants. Ann Burchard
Very inspiring
Very inspiring. I can see you love gardening and it shows.
Look at all these fake as comments. This is goverment propaganda, and you should be ashamed of yourself hiding behind noble causes . Less goverment =more freedom . Keep communism out of my desert !!!
You know . I'll rent you Porta potty.
Great video production, the we have more people than Jobs up here. What makes you think more government is going to solve your anonymous employee housing problem . Let's dump tax payer money in nonprofits hands and surrender our private property rights to the corrupt government in exchange for what exactly. How about people secure housing and employment then have babies. . What color is your hair going to be next ladies
This is great. I lived across from the JTNM for a while. Beautiful space.

Desert gardens are more beautiful than gardens here in Hawaii due to the unrelenting growth of weeds and grass etc......
Nice garden! Have to deal with a lot of weeds in my backyard garden (in Hawaii); although it doesn't seem to be a problem with a desert garden!
What a pair. Gas lighters with no intention of being stewards of preservation. Delusional city slickers.
The problem is lack of regional oversight. We have two cities trying to do their own thing and do right, and we have San Bernardino County who has lacked oversight. This video was released over two years ago, however there doesn't seem to be an adequate amount of staff/resources at the two main tourism entities that currently exist the Morongo Basin. I was so proud to participate and speak up in this interview hoping it would effect change, and it sickens me that this desert that had so much meaning to me now leaves me with a feeling of embarrassment and shame to know that I played a part in the destruction of our community. I have spent a great deal of time going from agency to agency trying to get everyone on the same page. During the pop up community resource event last month in 29 Palms, I had a 20 minute discussion with Steve Reyes, field rep for Sup. Dawn Rowe. Steve genuinely seemed to understand or at least take interest in what we were trying to do. It took weeks for a response. On the day I was about to present the concept to our Tourism Board in 29 Palms, I received an email basically declining a request to meet with Dawn. Steve's response: "I discussed your idea with our team and at this juncture I am going to refer you to the City of Twentynine Palms to continue your work with the TBID program. There are multiple entities already in place such as the 29 Palms Downtown Business Association and the Yucca Valley Chamber of Commerce which I encourage you to continue your efforts with" As for the 29 Palms DBA, Steve and Glenn should be well-aware that Desert Beacon was instrumental in founding that and we spent upwards of $10-20k in staff time to get it off the ground. The 29 Palms downtown businesses are struggling as it is and can barely fund its own event's, let alone solve the regional tourism advocacy role of an entire county. As for the Yucca Valley Chamber of Commerce and the California Welcome Center, their combined operating for both is limited. Per CWC's form 990 from 2022, they had revenue of 126 k in contributions and $70k of that is from Yucca Valley. I am awaiting a public information request on SB County's contributions and TOT receipts from 2020-present, so it will be interesting to see exactly how much revenue goes to the general fund. How is there supposed to be any type of regional oversight when you have two cities and an entire county with a massive influx of vacation homes and visitors. It is time for everyone to be on the same page and understand that direct and indirect impacts are not confined by the geographic borders of our two largest incorporated cities. I have addressed many of our concerns with San Bernardino County Administrative Offices and have received a meeting with Dawn. I have requested reps from CWC and City of 29 to be in attendance as well. Now is the time for residents to speak up at the next board of supervisors meeting. If you don't speak up, nothing will change. Eric Menendez CEO, Desert Beacon Inc. @thedesertbeacon
Beautiful property yard. I love desert landscape. Hello from Spain.
You and your Family are A True Beautiful Garden! re: Voltare
We’ve been riding there for over 30 plus years and understand we destroy some of the vegetation but really don’t notice any change from year to year.
Bravo Ms. Seger! Thank you for your dedication, the beauty is inspiration!
Beautiful landscape. Hello from Serbia.
gorgeous
Love your work thank you
This is great! I just had an offer accepted on a house in wonder valley and this whole series has been so helpful in understanding the land and how to make the most of its resources. Your guys’ entire series deserves more views and an award!
“Who the intruders actually are.” Love this.❤❤❤
I loved this clip. Very good information about the beauty of the desert. 🌵 ❤
Clean plants
That looks like heaven...gorgeous. ❤ 🌵
Wow, that is seriously dry. The driest region of Australia in South Australia's far north gets 100mm of rain a year. (4 inches)
super cool garden and person!! loved the resilience and to make this beauitiful garden in harsh conditions!!
I wanted to put larger trees as well, but my budget is restricted. I am about an hour away from you.
Wonderful hearing about your place and see how well you are doing. Your cousin Frieda
Love Morongo. Spent a month there in 1996. Never seen so many stars in my life.
🎉❤❤❤❤
Outstaing video, very well done in informative. I will send this to the powers that be. I, mysofe, and our nonprofit The New Earth Army are focused on homelessness and affordable housing, among other things and we completely agree with this. AFFORDABLE HOUSING NOW!
You guys are awesome, but please don’t popularise Morongo Valley. It deserves to stay a small town.
Watering is also my meditation.
